Ayidan walked quietly through the trees that lay near his home, his tail slowly swishing side to side. He looked at the lovely fall colors, his eyes shining. It was his first fall and he was loving it, loving the gorgeous colors and the way the air was getting chilly. He was eager for this 'winter' he'd been told about by his human, he wanted to know what snow was like. The way it had been described, it sounded lovely, all clean and white! But cold, apparently. And wet. But he'd see. In the meantime, this weather was interesting, and pretty. He just had to avoid the rain.

Far from the teepee of her new guardian, Kuwanyauma zipped through the trees of ther forest as if she's done it several times or more. Of course, this was her first time here, but that didn't stop her from having fun. She stopped every now and then to inspect flowers that caught her eye, nickering happily, before continuing on her way. She even had paused once in awhile to leap into a pile of fallen leaves, just to enjoy the crunching sound they made. Oh how fun Fall was... she wondered if the other seasons were just as great around here.

Ayidan heard an interesting sound, the sound of... wings perhaps? He looked up, and around, trying to find the source of the sound. Finally he saw a blue form leaping into a pile of leaves, and he moved nearer, to see. He stared, jaw dropping, at the pretty mare, and finally he stammered out "Uh... uh... ohhhhhh!" His cheeks blushed red and he went into bashful mode, his head half lowered, as if ready to run.

Kuwanyauma continued to jump through the leaves, rolling in them as well. The little flutter was completely unaware that another had spotted her antics, much like she would have cared if they saw or not. It wasn't until she heard the faint sound of someone's voice when she realized that she wasn't alone.
Stopping what she was doing, she looked around until her golden eyes caught sight of the much larger stallion. A smile formed onto her features as she quickly lost interest in the leaves and fluttered over to him. "Hello there. Who are you? Where'd you come from? I haven't seen you here before."

Ayidan froze, and tried to make his brain formulate more of a thought then just RUN! He looked at her, then he managed to stammer out "I... I... I'm... Ayi... Ayidan...." He pawed the earth a little with one hoof as he tried to work on the second question. "I li... live duh-down by the.... the river..." He gulped a little, then says "I duh-don't get out muh... much... to muh... meet others."

The small mare fluttered around him frantically before stopping in front of him once again. Once he had given his name, she gazed at him quizzically. Finally, she giggled and hopped in place. "Ayi-Ayidan... that's a funny name. Did'ja know you talked funny? Yep yep yep. I'm Kuwanyauma, that I am." She nickered excitedly. "The river... you mean the one by me? That's the only river I've seen. Unless there's another river. Do you think there's another river? Huh, huh, huh? And why don't you go out much? Going out is fun fun fun!"

Ayidan blushes red, and says "Nuh... no. I muh... mean..." He focused, and then practically spat out "Ayidan" to make sure it came out right. "I.... I... I'm.... Shu.... shu.... shy... Th... that's.... whu... whu... why I stu... stutter...." He blushes and looks down, scraping his hoof along the dirt. "And I... juh... just don't... cau... cause I'm... Ah... afraid... that puh... people... wuh... wuh... will lu... lu... laugh at mu... mu... me." He paused, then said "I... is thu... there suh... osmething... I cuh... cuh... can call you for shu.... short? Ku... Ku... Kuwan... Kuwanyau... Kuwanyauma's huh... hard to say, esp... especially... whu... when I stu... stu... stutter." He pondered her other question, and finally said "Wuh... well I on... only knu... know whu... one ri... ri... river, suh... so it's pru... pru... probably the same?"

Kuwan listened intently as he got his words out. "Now... Ayidan sounds much nicer." She replied with a giggle, but blinked at his next statement. "What's to be shy about and who would laugh at you? I see no reason to laugh at you. Nope nope nope. Unless you know good jokes. Do you know good jokes? Huh, huh, huh?" She asked, fluttering around him once again. "Something shorter than Kuwanyauma? Yeah, yeah... I have Kuwa or Kuwan. Yauma doesn't sound to pretty. Nope nope nope nope." She landed back in front of him again, smiling widely. "Same river? Then why don't I ever see you getting a drink then? I'm sure you get thirsty and would go to the river for water, yep yep... everything gets thirsty, yes they do."

Ayidan was a little overwhelmed by her bubbly personality, but couldn't help smiling. She was very nice, after all. "Ku... Kuwan. I'll call yuh... you thuh... that. An... an... and Suh... suh...s ome pe... people wuh... would laugh cau... cause the.... they're muh.... muh... muh... mean, and thuh... thu... they wo... wo... would lau... laugh at my... stu... stu... stutter." He sighs softly. "I don't knuh... know whu... whu... why I am shu... shy... I juh... juh... just am. Huh... huh... have been since I was a fuh... foal." He blinks a little, then says "Wuh... well muh... maybe we're nuh... not at thu... same puh... part of the ru... ru... river? It's luh... luh... long. Or we duh... duh... don't go to it at the su... su... same time?"

"Kuwan it is. Yep yep. Heeeeeey... can I call you Ayi or Yida... or even perhaps Dan? Dan's a silly name, isn't it? It sounds funny." She stated with a giggle, hopping away to jump into a pile of leaves again. She frowned deeply when she heard about others possibly being mean to him just because he stuttered and stammered. "Well... well... that's just not nice. They need to get a good talking to if they're mean because of that. I mean, I like the way you talk. Yep yep yep yep!" She exclaimed with several nods of her head. "Aww... that's no good. It would be fun to see you at the same river. Yep yep... we can splash in it."

Ayidan blinks, never having considered a nickname for himself before. "Ummm... Uhhh A... Ayi wah... would be go.... good, I thu... think. Y... yeah. Du.... duh...Dan sounds fu... funny." He watches her move around, and then softly laughs as she jumps into the leaves, before considering her words. "Wuh... well some puh... people ju... ju... just aren't nuh... nice. A... and I duh... du... don't wanna get teased. I'm.... shuh... shy en... en... enough as is wi... with... without being tuh... teased." He ponders her statement, and then nods. "Nuh... not ri... right nuh... now though, it muh.... muh... might be to cuh... cuh...cold."

She squealed in delight at his agreeance to call him Ayi, trotting back to do an odd little dance around him. "Yay! I can call Ayi, Ayi! Fun fun fun!" She giggled as she looked up to him, frowning only slightly when he mentioned some horses weren't nice. "Weeeeellll... then you'll just have to ignore them and listen to what your friends have to say. Yep yep yep... friends always have good things to say. Yes yes!" She exclaimed, almost in a singsong sort of fashion. "But the river is fun when it's cold. Nice and refreshing too. Almost like licking what the humans call ice!"

Ayidan laughs happily and shyly. He then ponders her second statement. "Wuh... well I juh... just am ne... never shu... sure wh... what ku... kind some one wuh... will be bef... before I tuh... talk to them, so it's huh... hard. And tuh... teasing ma... ma... makes me wa... want to go huh... hide." He ponders what she has to say about the cold. "Tr... true. But we... we don't wa... want to g... get to cuh... cold or we mu.... might get si... sick. An... and I'd hu... hate fo... for yuh... you to ge... get sick."

She snorts and frowned at what he said, one thing she hated doing. "You can't live your life fearing what others will think of you. You got to live the way you want to." She told him, stomping a hoof firmly onto the ground... though she got distracted temporarily by the sound of crunching leaves. Kuwan just sighed and shook her head, letting herself get back to her bouncy demeanor once again. "Awww... being sick is no fun. Nope nope nope nope."

Ayidan sighs a little. "I... su...suppose..." He sighed, and pondered. "It... It's just th... that I wh... want fr... friends, a... and if pe... people la... laugh at me, th... they wont wa... want to be muh... my fri... friend is all." He then smiles a little and nods. "Nu... no it's nu... not. Th... that's wh... why I wa... wasn't sh... sure th... this is the right w... weather fo... for pl... playing in the ri... river."
