"Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure" is an oft-repeated Ravenclaw proverb. [HP5, HP7]. Our animal is the eagle (not the raven as some think), and our colours are blue and bronze (though the movies portray our colors as blue and silver). It has been suggested that Ravenclaw refers to the "raven" colored (black) talons of an eagle, rather than the bird raven. According to Jo Rowling, Ravenclaw corresponds to the element of air.

KNOWN RAVENCLAW HOUSE MEMBERSFilius Flitwick, Charms Professor and Ravenclaw Head of House. _________________________________ The Grey Lady, Ravenclaw Ghost. Revealed in Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows as Helena Ravenclaw, daughter of Rowena Ravenclaw.
 _________________________________
Moaning Myrtle, the ghost that haunts the second floor girls bathroom (and consequently the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets). , it is established that the character is the ghost of a Muggle-born witch who died while a student at Hogwarts, fifty years prior to the events in the book. The books indicate that Myrtle was often bullied during her years at Hogwarts, leading her to become extremely depressed and often retreat to the second floor girls' lavatory to weep and cry her depression to tears. It is revealed through the events in the book that Myrtle was hiding there to elude Olive Hornby, a classmate of hers who perpetually tormented her with teasing, when the Chamber was opened and Tom Riddle's Basilisk emerged and killed her. Tom Riddle used her death to create his very first Horcrux: his diary. It is also worth mentioning that Moaning Myrtle was Tom Riddle's (later Lord Voldemort) first known victim. She is also known to have a crush on Harry Potter and then defending Draco Malfoy when attacked by Harry.
 _________________________________
Luna Lovegood, first mentioned in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Luna becomes close to Harry and his friends, notably Harry by being able to raise his spirits when no one else could after the death of Sirius. She is also noted (along with Neville and Ginny) as being the only DA members who answered the call to protect the school in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Luna proves to be a true friend at the end of the battle between Harry and Voldemort, after being the first to congratulate him she notices that he needs to be alone and provides him with a distraction so he can slip unnoticed under the invisibility cloak. Luna later becomes the wizarding equivalent of a naturalist, eventually marrying Rolf Scamander, grandson of Newt Scamander.
 _________________________________
Cho Chang, notably known for being Cedric Diggory's date to the Yule Ball and later sharing Harry Potter's first kiss. Cho is one of the first students to believe Harry's declaration of Voldemort's return in Order of the Phoenix, and when invited by Hermione to join Dumbledore's Army, Cho reveals that her parents wish her not to take part in any anti-Ministry of Magic relations, but she joins because she is determined to fight against Voldemort and avenge Cedric's murder. Cho then left the group over the controversy of her friend Marietta's betrayal, but later returns prior to engaging in the final battle against Voldemort and the Death Eaters. It has been revealed that Cho married a muggle after graduation.
 _________________________________
Terry Boot, the first Ravenclaw student to be sorted in the book series and is a close friend of Michael Corner and Anthony Goldstein in the same year as Harry. He becomes a member of Dumbledore's Army in the first meeting at Hog's Head, asking Harry to confirm information that a painting in the Headmaster's office shared with him. He questions why Hermoine isn't in Ravenclaw in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. In The Half-Blood Prince he is punished by the Carrow's after making a public declaration of Harry, Ron, and Hermoine's break in and subsequent escape on the back of a dragon.

Michael Corner, a Ravenclaw student in Harry's year, and is close friends with housemates Terry Boot and Anthony Goldstein. He dated Ginny after the Yule Ball, but the relationship later ended after Gryffindor (with Ginny as the seeker) beats Ravenclaw in a Quidditch match. , Michael is tortured by the Carrows for trying to free a first-year boy from imprisonment during Severus Snape's regime as Hogwarts headmaster; Neville recalls this incident to Harry, Ron and Hermione when the trio return to Hogwarts. He is the one who pushes Harry to relent and allow the DA's offer of help during the final battle.
 _________________________________
Anthony Goldstein, a Ravenclaw student in Harry's year, and is close friends with housemates Michael Corner and Terry Boot. He becomes a Ravenclaw Prefect and joins Dumbledore's Army. Anthony is one of several D.A. members who assist Harry against Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle as they attempt to ambush Harry on the Hogwarts Express at the end of the school year. He is also one of the members who assists in the final battle against Voldemort.

_________________________________
Padma Patil, a Ravenclaw student in Harry's year, and the identical twin sister of Gryffindor student Parvati Patil. Padma is mentioned in Goblet of Fire and attends the Yule Ball with Ron Weasley. Padma becomes a Ravenclaw Prefect but is taken home, with her sister, after Dumbledore's death by her parents. She then returns for the final battle with Voldemort.
 _________________________________
Penelope Clearwater, a Ravenclaw student and prefect who is described as tall with dark curly hair, and is four years older than Harry. She makes her first appearance in Chamber of Secrets. She was petrified along with Hermione Granger by the reflect of the basilisk's eyes. It was later discovered that she was dating Percy Weasley, Ginny admits to walking in on the two kissing in an empty classroom. There was confusion regards to her blood status, whether she is a half-blood or pureblood.
 _________________________________
Marietta Edgecombe, a Ravenclaw student in Cho's year. Marietta joins Dumbledore's Army, whose objective is to defy the Ministry's methods of teaching defensive magic by secretly training students in combat, against her wishes out of peer pressure from Cho. She becomes an informant and betrays the group to Umbridge, which is not without consequences: The parchment that all the members signed back at The Hog's Head was jinxed by Hermione Granger, which in turn caused purple pustules spelling the word "SNEAK" to break out across Marietta's face. _________________________________
Roger Davies, Captain of, and Chaser on, the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. Known for being Fleur's date to the Yule Ball (and the bushes outside later on).

COMMON ROOM The Ravenclaw common room and dormitories are located in Ravenclaw Tower on the west side of Hogwarts. The entrance is a door at the top of a tightly winding spiral staircase that leads up from the fifth floor. The wooden door has neither handle nor keyhole, but a talking bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle.
In order to gain entry to the Ravenclaw common room, a logical riddle must be solved, in contrast to the Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Slytherin common rooms, which require a password to enter. The riddles given in the book are philosophical in nature such as 'What came first, the phoenix or the flame?' and 'Where do vanished objects go?', the responses to which were, respectively, 'A circle has no beginning' answered by Luna Lovegood and 'Into nonbeing, that is to say everything', answered by Professor McGonagall.
The Ravenclaw common room is described as a wide, circular room, very airy, with graceful arched windows "punctuating" the walls, which are hung with blue and bronze silks. During the day there is a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. The ceiling is a dome painted with stars, which are echoed in the midnight blue carpet. There are tables, chairs and bookcases, and in a niche opposite the door is a tall, life-sized white marble statue of Rowena Ravenclaw wearing her diadem. [HP7pg 587]
