The ASIAN Mark 3 is a fully equipped ship system support processing computer. Each unit serves the general function of interfacing directly with both ship systems and human personnel, making communication between the two faster and easier. In the absence of a ranking officer, ASIAN M3s are capable of taking full command of a ship.
===== 2. History and Background =====
Marks 3s have much more processing power than the M2. The user interface is also much more aware, with a true artificial intelligence, and the capability to develop an actual personality. When in a command position, the units make very calculated decisions, but are capable of taking as much risk as a Human commander would. Their general 'personality' depends on the unit's initial programming, as well as past experiences the machine has had, much like a human. They run on logic rather than emotion, but can factor emotions into their logic. The Mark three was created to help push the agenda of using Machines over humans to save lives and to create a larger amount of personnel to pool from. ASIAN units are commonly called Avatars, which is a bit of a pun if you think about the other usage of the word when it comes to computers.

The M2 is built on a robotic skeletal chassis, with component systems making up the majority of her internal body. The body is coated in a layer of rubbery, protective carbon polymer. Overlaying this is a semi-organic thermosensitive dermal membrane, which serves the dual function of giving it a very human appearance, as well as controlling interior systems temperature.

The M3 is built on a specialized metallic skeleton, with the Quantum computer protected within the metal skull. Various micronized systems are placed throughout the body, mounted on the skeleton. Covering the skeleton is a layer of synthetic muscles, allowing mobility of the fairly heavy frame. Around this all has been grown a specially cultured body (taken from samples of soldiers, and grown in the same way as replacement body parts) This body is capable of taking in and processing food items for energy, and can run on a low powered setting indefenitely as long as it eats once a week. The M3 can also be plugged directly into a terminal, allowing it to draw power as well as function if the enemy is jamming wireless communications.
