Does this mean I should stop trying?

No, I'm not thinking of giving up on stuff, but I've noticed an odd trend. Whenever I try any sort of seeing, or predicting, whenever I actually try to get the stuff to work, it never does. But on the other hand, if I don't really try too hard and just give a soft nudge, it more often than not works.

Let me give an example. Playing a game with a friend and we flip a coin to see who goes first, I'm the one who calls it. if I sit and go "Heads or tals, heads or tails, hmmmm..." then I almost always call wrong, but when I just go " heads or tails-heads!" then indeed, it has come out to be heads. it like the first thing that pops into my head is always correct. sweatdrop

The problem with this is that it makes it hard to catch things when I want to and makes any effort to try something over a period of longer than maybe five seconds practally impossible.

Any advice?

I occasionally have that problem too - it only ever works when you put no effort into it.

If, like you said, the first thing that pops into your head is correct, then your ituition's probably pretty sharp -- instead of practising, deliberating, and debating in your head, try going with the flow. Take it lightheartedly and whimsically, never try to 'make' it work, and try your best not to think about it while you're doing it. The moment you try to improve on it, it disappears.

That's my two cents, anyway. >.>

When we try really hard to make something work, we often tend to analyze any sort of impression we get, and usually dismiss the ones we find to be incorrect. Those very impressions are the ones that are usually the right ones. I remember reading once about exercises in psychometry, and one of their big tips was "say the things that come into your mind, no matter how strange they sound". I think that can apply here; you can't FORCE your mind like that, or your own perceptions start to cloud things. As you said, it's more of a small nudge.

Ha ha, I have the exact same problem.

My theory is, it has something to do with "talent"...natural inclination. If you ask an athlete to try hard on their next marathon run, they will do worse; it's because of how our consciousness works--once we truly get something, us trying to actively, consciously do it actually slows us down and causes us to fumble. If this works in reference to sports, music, drawing, art, and other academic venues...why not psychic and magickal venues as well?

dont try to force it. you need to let it flow naturally and harmoniously with your body and mind. i suggest that you take a break, about a week, let your body and mind rest, then jump right back on the horse and try until it works for you.

I don't really think thats predicting, its natural human behavior, your first guess is almost always the right answer.

actually predicting is an art and science, even if you dont use magick, the mind is always adding up the facts and trying to figure out the most likely result.

but the magick way is more interesting.

The same thing applies to psychokinesis. When you stop trying so hard is when you get the most results. I think that just about anything in this field of study behaves that way. "Focused inattention" is a term I've seen a few times.

Choco, this has to be one of the first of your posts to really sound genuine. Bravissimo.

;o I've been known to send the opposite vibes.

For example:

Me: Flip a coin damnit!
Coin Flipper: R Call it.
Me: - Say tails betch-
R: Tails?
Coin: I'm head's silly effs!
Me: Hah! I mean, coins don't talk... ;__;

Then again, I'm pretty good at being psychic. So. ;;>> I don't come across that problem.

I always take my gut instinct first.
