Is it just me or do you just hate holiday concerts by middle school, and of course on to high school? You play basically the same themes (Jingle bells, up on the Roof Top, and others) almost every year with maybe a bit of a twist on it, then if you are in jazz band same deal just everything has a jazz feeling (Who woulda thought!?!?) but does anyone else dislike holiday concerts other then me? I mean at least in he spring you can play anything.

I hate Christmas music anyway, because its always 2 months early and by Christmas you've heard the stupid songs so many times you're sick of them, well, at least that happens to me. I'm in marching band, concert band, jazz band, and now honors band, and in all of them except honors we are playing basically the same thing. There is a limit to how many times i can listen and play the same songs year after year after bloody year!!

Sorry to hear you don't like middle school holiday concerts. We had ours last week. I'm in eighth grade. I actually enjoyed it. We played American Christmas Rhapsody, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Angels We Have Heard On High, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

I don't like them because we have no time to prepare for it... >< We have to play Sleigh Ride... Original Version... and two other peices... Prepared in two weeks. Oo; It's nuts.. It usually turns out alright, but nobody's ever really happy about it. ><

i do.
we recently had a concert where all the bands and the choirs did a big concert. we sat on our butts for an hour and a half in the BACK of the gym listening to the same things played with different groups. it was torture! ;~;
also, it went by grade levels in the concert, so the high school was the second last one, and by that time my warm up was totally useless. and my first note was a high B flat, which is a bit hard for me to hit without warming up... XD [i'm a trumpet ;D]
wow, sorry for rambling. the point: yes, holiday concerts are one of the worst concerts ever, in my opinion. D:

hate christmas concerts with a passion. The songs I had were sleigh ride, jingle bells, carol of the bells, Noel (which somehow has a crash symbols part) and this hebrew thing called hebreic rhapsody. The thing is none of the songs sound like they should, like Jingle bells where its all jazzy and s**t. same with Noel. it was so ******** up.

Hm, I WOULD agree with you, but I actually enjoyed my most recent holiday concert. Normally they're pathetic and even the parents hate them, but with this one we actually had some variety. We played.... Oh, let's see... Carol of the Bells and Greensleeves, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Danza, Elanor Rigby, and Witch's Sabbath... Well, others too, but I can't remember them at the moment. So yes, it was actually quite an enjoyable concert.

In my 1st high school concert, we didn't play the well known jingle bells, rudolph or whatever, we played: Carol of the Bells (too damn hard man) Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (beautiful) Fantasia greensleeves (something like that) A Christmas festival (hard but nice) The Polar Express (That song was EVIL!)

I like spring concerts MUCH better. This year we're gonna play a lot of cool songs, like stuff from Pirates of the Caribbean. =D
My favorite this year had to be The Polar Express. The music was so pretty! Not to mention I had an awesome sax solo. cool
This year we played something called Hallelujah it's Christmas. It's like...every single Christmas song jumbled up into one. It's scary...and I didn't like it. xd
This year the sixth graders also played an easier version of Carol of the Bells...They sucked at it. xd At least my grade was OKAY at it when we played it in sixth grade.
My favorite song we've ever played at a winter concert was in seventh grade, it was Rites of Tamburo. That song was sooooo cooool... heart =D

We tried to play Pirates of the Caribbean. I don't remember if it went over well.
But what really sucks, isn't Christmas concerts. I'm fine with those. Nice little dark auditorium with only friends, family and the idiots who are just so damn peppy they have to go to every school sponsored event of the year. No, what really sucks is playing in a caf. with 500+ students all talking at once with a total of 8 or 9 orchestra players trying to squeeze out enough sound so the people in front of us can hear us. Needless to say. It sucked. Just so you know there was 3 cellos, and 5 violins. I hated it. We tried to play A Charlie Brown Christmas but it was too hard for the cellos to get down so we couldn't do it. sweatdrop

The jazz band played a jazzy version of Greensleeves which was pretty cool. I still hate the winter concert.
