It was beautiful fall day in their own little world. Cadance, a brightly colored and decorated stallion, galloped cheerfully, a little umph in his stride. He was in a magical and wonderful mood at the time and it would probably last him all day. Like most times, Cadance was cheerful, so full of engergy.
The flowered stallion's pace took him along the side of the riverside. His hooves dug into the ground, causing him to come to a quick halt as his gaze was caught on the water. The fish...they were swimming in circles. Cadance had never seen the fish do this before, but it was new experience, something new to learn! And because of that...he was glad.
It was in his nature to explore, to see things that no one else has seen and to do with a smile and still have energy after that to go out and do it again! Though, because of that...it often caused him to get a few scratches along the way because of his youthfulness and recklessness. A small price to pay to see the unexpected.

Meena chewed the end of a mane braid thoughtfully, then let it go with a 'ptoeey' noise, yawning in the autumn sun. She was bored..bored, bored, and oh, did she mention bored? She clipped slowly along, her tail flicking occasionally as the tried to keep it out of the larger muddy areas.
Along with being bored, she was feeling lonely. She'd not seen hide nor hair of any of her family members, nor anything of Demon, and that hurt her more than anything. So she wasnt in the best mood that day, as she approached the opposite bank of the river from Cadence.
The reflection in the water caught her eye first, and she flicked her gaze across the river, her head canted to one side as she appraised the..well she assumed he was a stallion but he certainly did like to adorn himself with flora! She stood watching him in silence.

Cadance continued to stare blankly at the fish swimming in their pattern before he was pulled out of his trance by a reflection on the water. Instantly his head looked up and a large smile grew on his lips.
The stallions trotted backwards much like a foal would do and nickered happily. "Why hell there!" He called to his new friend. Yes, friend. Everyone was his friend instantly unless proven otherwise. His eyes shone brightly; this was wonderful! Much, MUCH better then watching those fish. They weren't even that interesting to begin with...

'And hello to you,' Meena replied, her nose wrinkled in amusement. He was so..feminine she thought to herself, and had to strive for a moment not to laugh out loud.
She leaned, peering into the water that had moments ago so fascinated the stallion and raised a brow. 'Do you often watch fish?' she asked outright, her gaze moving back to Cadance.

"Mm, not very often, but it was the most exciting thing that was going on until you showed up." Cadance spoke softly with a smile on his face. She had a very interesting coloring on her..it was more...natural. Unlike his coat..red and stripes, but he had to admit...He made his coloring look good.
"My name's Cadance, at your service."

'Likewise, I wasn't doing anything terribly exciting. Lost in my own slightly depressing thoughts.' Meena admitted with a half-smile.
'Cadance huh? Exotic name, I think it suits you.' she replied. Was it a compliment? It was truthful; she'd grown up amongst natural coloured Soquili's and rarely saw anything quite so interesting looking as the stallion in front of her. 'Meena, at yours too I guess.' she flicked a look at the blooms that adorned him again. 'Do you find those attract bugs or what?'

"Meena...what a lovely name your parents graced you with!" Cadance's smile became a worried frown, "Now now, a woman of beauty should not be troubled by anything besides that color flowers suit her the best."
"Oh, and these flowers? Yes and no, I must replace them after the winter, so I am not bothered all of that horrible, cold season. But spring, ugh. Those small yellow insects with their vile points* should learn their place! Really now...poking my rump just because their little flower is moving away. That's not very fair is it? At least to me..." The stallion huffed over-dramatically and threw a warm smile at the mare in front of him.

'Thanks,' she acknowledged the compliment with a little nod. 'I suppose it is fairly nice. Haven't much thought about it though. It's just my name after all.' she gave a half smile which faded swiftly. 'Really? I don't know. I think that feeling slighted and alone would be a fair reason to be slightly down about things, don't you?'
She wasn't one of those mares that adorned herself in foliage. It always seemed fairly pointless; besides, the flora lasted longer in the ground then in a mane or tail. She looked at Cadance as he talked about being harried by what was probably bees? She had to laugh at that, here was a stallion that it was difficult to stay moody around.
'I think I might be slightly grumpy if my food kept wandering away from me.' she quipped.

Cadance nodded quickly, "A name is something that you have from the moment you're born to the moment of your death. It's a precious thing that you should treasure." But he kept a warm smile on his muzzle to help lighten the mood further.
"I mean really, they should just mind their own business, those disgusting little flying thorns. I personally think they shouldn't be around at all. But..." He paused briefly in his words, adding a flip of his lovely auburn mane, "They bring the flowers in which adorn many others or so I have been told. I find it hard to believe that they bring something so beautiful."

'I guess you're right. Could have been worse I imagine. My parents could have called me 'Heyyou', or just girl.' Meena wrinkled her face up, trying to think of that. Meena as a name was perfectly acceptable compared to many things it could have been.
She regarded him thoughtfully and then crossed the river, wading through the running water slowly so as not to slip, and when she emerged on the other side she shook like a very large dog, probably spraying the stallion as well. 'Sorry..' she said, looking at him with a faint smile.
'I've heard that, they are kind of like..chaperones for the flowers, they help them get together and make more flowers. Everything has it's place and function in the world I guess. Though sometimes I wonder what mine is..' she coughed a little. 'Sorry again, guess I'm not the cheeriest person to bump into right now.'

He let out a noise similar to a snort as beads of water slid down his face, with faint look of displeasure but he quickly shook that off. "True, it could be very worse! Meena is a lovely name for you. It fits you perfectly actually."
Cadance just shook the water off of himself that she had landed on him, sighing deeply, "No need to apologize for that. Water doesn't do any harm."
"But, really now? I still find that hard to believe that the little thing brings such wonderful things into existence. Oh and Meena, you must not be gloomy, surely things are not that bad? Come now, you are alive and not trying to avoid becoming fodder for a skinwalker. But..." The vibrant stallion chewed on his mane thoughtfully; something he didn't do often. He pulled one of the daisies that decorated him and stepped over beside her, placing it in her mane. "Ahah! I knew something was missing!"

Meena doubted that he was as laid back about the water as he was saying he was; she'd heard noise and caught a glimpse of the expression that marred his face for a moment, but she refrained from saying anything. Were they better acquianted she might have been moved to tease him about it, but as she wasn't and didn't know what might upset him, she felt it more polite not to comment.
She nodded; 'It was what I'd heard..I can't remember where from, might have been something my mother told me as a filly. Maybe I asked her what bees were, but I can't recall too well.' Skinwalker? That was an odd word. She was about to question him on that term when he approached her and tucked a flower in her mane.
'Well..thank you.' she gave a proper smile that time, he was only trying to be nice, and it wasn't his fault she felt like a tossed away piece of bad fruit. 'Yes..so what's a skinwalker?' she asked, a brow raised. 'I've not heard that term before now.'

"A skinwalker? My dear, are you telling me you do not know of them? I used to live near one! Frightful beasts, they are. Tear the meat right from your bones, luckily the one I leaved near was little without his brother, who he talked of constantly, but I never saw mane nor tail of." Cadance answered with a solemn nod at the end to punctuate his statement.
"You are welcome to keep that flower until it wilts. I can replace it, but I think it suite you just fine actually. Perhaps you should wear them. It really does look lovely." Then again, this stallion thought anything with a flower on it looked lovely.
"But back on the subject on skinwalkers...They are said to come from hell itself, a mixture of a wolf or something that eats the meat of others and one of our own kind...Strange things really."

Meena shivered, not the words she wanted to hear in explanation of the term 'skinwalker'! She supposed that with a name like that it was unlikely to anything appealing though. It did literally mean that it was something that walked in another's skin.
'No, I have not had that luck it would seem. I know of Kalona's, but these 'skinwalkers' sound very much worse.' she felt sick to her stomach at the thought of eating the flesh of another.
'Thanks,' she said absently, her head still whirling at the thought of creatures like that roaming around at will. 'And hell they belong to, how is it that something that is our kind can prey on other Soquili? I think if I never met one that would be too soon. You seem blessed to have gotten away with your hide intact if you met one.'
