We all make them: the silly little mistakes that either drive our inner editors insane or make us giggle uncontrollably. I'm not sure if there's a thread here for them (and if there is, this one can die in peace...), but I think we should have a thread like this.
A NaNoism is a silly little mistake, like I said. It could be a typo, a grammatical error, or even a case of leaving words out. The point of this thread is to just take a step back every now and then and have a good laugh at ourselves and our insanity.
Well, long intro aside (it's two AM here and I'm dead tired xDD) I'd like to start the fun off with a few NaNoisms of my own!
"...she said, feigning surprise. I shot her." D: Apparently, my main character has a violent streak I didn't know about. You shot her a look, my dear Sarah.
"I threw him a warning and turned back to Frankie." You did it again, dear! You threw him a warning look. Get it right D<
"My brain hadn't processed the question before it slipped through my lops." Wtf are lops? I'd really like to know.
"I said, and stuck my tongue out of hrer." There are so many things wrong with this sentence, I don't even know where to begin...
"I made a mental note to mentally warn Frankie of the absolutely mental cliques as the author looked down in horror at the sentence she had just written." I think that sums up my experience this year -.-;;
Are you guys ready? GOGOGO!
Oh, and to add to the discussion nature of things:: Do you guys still have a fourth wall? Mine's gone. Longggg gone. It died in the first three days D:
EDIT:: A couple of you answered "What's a fourth wall?" So, I shall explain the best I can. The fourth wall in your novel is the wall that separates you from your characters. We say you have "destroyed/torpedoed/blown up/any other adjective of that nature'd" your fourth wall when your characters start making comments about/monologues about/references to/complaints to you, the author. So yeah xD

I always have NaNoisms, but I'm so completely a**l about my writing that they're edited away almost instantly :XP:
And my fourth wall is still intact. But for how long WHO CAN SAY?

SilverTalion I always have NaNoisms, but I'm so completely a**l about my writing that they're edited away almost instantly :XP: And my fourth wall is still intact. But for how long WHO CAN SAY? xDD I used to be the same exact way. The Backspace key was my best friend. But then I read the NaNoism thread in NaNoWriMo Ate My Soul, and I realised that hell, mistakes can be highly amusing! So I stopped being so a**l, and now I have several word-consuming passages where the characters either rant about me or talk about me. xDD
My fourth wall died the day my character laughed and said, "I knew you'd figure it out. This is a story about self-discovery, and the author is quite a predictable girl!" DD: I think I need to spork my characters into submission some more.
EDIT:: Not twooo seconds ago, I wrote this:: "You were forgetting I'd hope, hunh?" My main character is a hopeless person. It was supposed to be "You were hoping I'd forget, hunh?" -.-;; I need to go to bed.

That's something I would do with a friend if any of them wrote D: But hoooly crap @ your story xD
"Writing its pain" hunh? xD I'm not sure exactly how it would go about doing that...

If you would like to read the first three chapters of The Story, they are located HERE xd I have to warn though, there is mature content presented in a fairly immature manner razz My friend was supposed to post the whole story online, but she never got around to it and since she has the hard copy I couldn't do it either. So the world is deprived of our genius. crying Perhaps the demon was writing awful poetry about the terrible pain that it was in? Or perhaps my subconscious was complaining about how long it was taking for me to describe that particular scene biggrin
