Charcoal sighed and and whipped his tail across the ground. The pidgeot said he would need to approach Bliss first which at this point he was more then willing to do. However, it was catching her in a good mood and then offering his apology. He had a few new cuts and scrapes, not to mention a ton of bruises, across his body and a burn from a tasier but he'd gotten his prize. A bloodied piece of cloth.
He fell over into the grass and groaned. This had better be worth it.

Bliss stared at the Charizard for a few minutes before she decided what to do. Her rage had yet to truly calm down. She sat in the dark shade of the forest, fuming. Did he deserve her attention after what he'd done? She fought with herself. He had been willing to help in her escape. But he had gone and 'protected' the one thing she hated more than the Ghosts that had landed her here. He was violent. Yet he had shown kindness to someone who she believed didn't deserve it. What should she do? For the first time in a long, long while, she wasn't sure.
Digging her trimmed claws into the ground, she padded with slight anger toward the larger Pokemon. "Charcoal." She said simply, her piercing eyes staring directly at him.

The Charizard sat up quickly and lifted his tail to hide the burn on his side. "Bliss..." He sounded relieved as he saw her then his excitement dampened as he noticed she wasn't in a good mood at all. Charcoal reached beside him then shoved the bloodied cloth toward the Absol. "Here... this is for you... its what's left of a guard. He isn't dead but he'll probably die from bloodloss..." He kept his gaze away from her. "I... wanted... to apologize... for what I said to you."

Bliss was silent for a good while, again unsure of how to react. He had gone and attacked one of them for her. To apologize, to tell her he was actually sorry for what he had done. She did not exactly condone a heartfelt apology, but he had done something that he believed would actually please her. Was it enough? One harmed human to take the place of a protected one? An abrupt pain shot through one of her front legs, making it twitch and quiver. She bit her lip. "Charcoal... As much as it pains me to say this -and trust me, it does- thank you. I know it must not have been an easy task."
She paused, the pain growing. It was likely that she should have been resting instead of walking around on an injured leg. She gritted her fangs and continued. "If you keep your tiny human away from me, I promise not to interfere with the two of you unless I deem it absolutely necessary." There, that left her with enough control, yet enough of a compromise to appease him. She reached, with her unpained paw, to the small piece of cloth. It was too much. She winced before collapsing.

Charcoal's eyes focused on her leg in worry as he watched it quiver. Was she hurt? That went without saying with how much she attacked humans but still... He gazed up as she spoke and felt a pride swirl within his chest. She was thanking him. It meant a lot knowing who it was coming from.
His pride turned to shock as he realized the enormity of what she just said. He could keep the human child under his care, so long as she was away from Bliss. He went to thank her but let out a startled roar as she collapsed.
"Bliss?!" He asked quickly getting down on all fours to go to her aid. He knew it would be dangerous to pick her up if she was conscious and willing to strike. Animals in pain were far more dangerous then animals that were scared. He put his flame closer to her to present his good intentions and looked at her leg, searching for the wound.

Bliss glared angrily at her leg, forcing it to obey her even though pain shot completely through it. There was nothing that would stop her from standing up again. She struggled to her paws again. "I'm fine." She barked at him. His pity would be the last thing she took -after death itself, if she had the choice.
"It's just a scratch." Her angry face turned away from him. She wasn't sure whether she was trying to convince him or herself. Whatever the case, she was determinied to be able to walk away from the exercise yard through her own power.

Charcoal didn't look convinced on either point but he sat back and gave her space. His tail thumped against the ground a few times as he debated what to do.
He looked around then spotted a pool of water near them. He casually got up and walked the few feet to it then laid down, acting as normal as possible. He hoped it would give her a reason to lay down. He was kept his tail far away from the water but gave a lazy yawn. "Its much cooler over here." He half lied hoping she understood the intention. He was giving her a reason to lay down without actually asking her to.

Bliss was silently pleased that he'd decided to leave the fall alone. She could deal with the pain -it was doubtful that they were actually allowed to hurt her badly enough so that she could no longer walk.
She watched with intent red eyes as he meandered over to the small pool of water. He was planning osmething, obviously, but just what it was she wasn't sure of. She was wary, to say the least. Once he'd actually laid down, it was obvious he wanted her to do the same. Normally she wouldn't have move at all. However, her leg began to shake violently, angry at her for pushing it so hard. In silence, with as much dignity as she could retain, the Absol walked over to the pool and laid down next to the Charizard. Her eyes closed, but the same less-than-pleased expression stayed on her face. "You're a bad liar." She murmured.

The Charizard let a soft smile enter his eyes as she laid down beside him. He curled his tail around her slightly to allow the heat to warm her. "Lair? What exactly did I lie about?" He questioned looking down at the smaller Pokemon.
He couldn't help it. Something was sparking in him that was more then the need to protect her. More then the admiration he had for her. What was it? He couldn't say. It was just... there.
The fire lizard laid the bloodied cloth over her front paw with his jaws and rested his head against the ground, heaving a sigh and smoke.

Although she couldn't exactly tell beneath her fur, she was sure of one thing. "It isn't any cooler over here than it was over there." She accused quietly. He's enjoying this much more than he should, she mused to herself. Much more than I should allow him to. She felt the soft touch of cloth on her paw and peeked an eye open. Just his bloody apology again. "You're getting soft." She pointed out sternly. Of course, just what was making him so soft was much less apparent to her.

The heat died down as did the size of the flame on his tail. A lumbering chuckle escaped his body, shaking the space between them. "Hmmm, soft? Not toward the humans. No, I understand now they are the least of our concerns." His red eyes landed on her, concern within them.
"Bliss... can you make me a promise?"

She'd been so comfortable before the chuckle forced her body to move from its relaxed position. "Obviously not." She motioned her head softly toward the piece of cloth laying silently on her paw. But 'the least of our concerns'? What was he talking about? The humans seemed to be their biggest obstacle in their return to freedom.
Her eyes closed again, her head touching the soft grass once more. "Depends on what it is." She didn't make promises she didn't intend to keep. In fact, she rarely made promises at all.

He brought his long neck closer so that his body was in a protective semi-ring around her. His eyes closed as the dragon exhaled, nestling down. He felt comfortable here.
"Promise me... that you and I will not fight like that again. I don't wish to loose my..." He paused, as if unsure of what word to use. "... friend." He said finally, opening his eyes to stare skyward.

Bliss was too tired to actually move toward or away from his loose embrace. She had moved enough for the day, with this annoying injury on her leg. it would heal soon enough, but for now, it was horribly frustrating.
"Lose your..." She continued for him sleepily. Friend. If he thought that way, that was fine with her. Comrade would likely have been the word she used, but his own choice intrigued her. "Just what am I to you, Charcoal? A friend?"

The dragon yawned and made a low grumbling in his chest. What was she to him?
The question was so odd. He could have been able to answer it right away. A friend, an ally, someone to escape with... but that wasn't what he was getting. It was something more.
He seemed to take forever to respond before he finally answered, "Someone... I'm not willing to loose... You are... everything." The statement came out awkward but sincere. Everything... she was everything to hoim. Just as his trainer had been but in a different light.
