most people say that it is just a copy of other great games- but as i mostly grew up with the series, it was new and great to me
i love the storyline- just something about it. the characters are great and the multiplayer is alot of fun
its just, well, got lots happening, and its just 'fun' without the ability to put your finger on one particular thing.

I like the story, personally, but the thing that sets Halo apart in my mind is how balanced the weapons are for a FPS and how easy to control it is. I have not seen a game quite replicate it.
I also think that most of it was hit with Halo ONE, so Bungie didn't improve on much because it wasn't broken to begin with. It may have made the least changes over three games, but the good things didn't get worse.

Oh god, you "grew up" with Halo!? What are you, eleven?? Anyways, yeah, Halo is a great series, but the level of it's popularity is mystifying to me. It's not as good as the world makes it out to be, but it is a high-quality, fun title.

Truthfully, I can't play Halo: Combat Evolved anymore. I beat the campaign on easy, I hate the other modes (because I suck at hard modes =P) and people royally screw up the multiplayer by creating these completely unrealistic and broken gametypes where there are like 15 banshees, 27 warthogs and superfast rocket launchers on top of a cliff inaccessible by anything but a glitch. And this is just Blood Gulch. I'm really getting sick of Halo. Hopefully playing Halo 3 will be more fun. But with eventually the same thing will happen if it hasn't already.

Way to revive a thread from three years ago XD But the important thing about Halo is that it is like the Mario series. While it is the same places and situations, the developers are actually working on new ideas. Halo Wars might have been "retarded" in your mind, but it was a new idea. But pay attention. Halo Reach is looking fantastic.
