Night drew closer as the sun began to set. Deep purple and bright orange danced along the horizon as Jina looked upon Pride Rock. A black lioness ran across the planes. She couldn't stop. Her chest hurt from the exhausting run, but she wouldn't stop. She closed her eyes, and willed herself to press on, but knew that she would only become weaker with the new day.
She needed to stop.
She slowed when she saw a small tree. She lie down in the grass at the base and opened her mouth to pant. She tried to calm herself, and slow her heart from racing. Soon, it slowly slowed. She sighed and rested her head on the soft grass.

Sen had been so worried about getting lost on the way back (and her ego was boosted even more when she hadn't), the other things she should have thought about never crossed her mind. Like say, food? She and her brother had had food dropped at their feet since they started roaming with the Goddess.
"Come ooon! I don't want to... Well, I do want to hurt you, but I'll make it really fast, I promise!" Stupid rabbit and it's stupid borrow by this stupid tree. She poked her face into it and was rewarded with a bite on the nose. "OH! DAMN IT!"
...What was that? Sen walked around the base, toward the panting sound, dissapointed to only find another lioness and not something she could eat. "Hey, are you okay?"

Jina's ears perked as she heard the soft voice. She looked over to see a young white female. "Oh, I'm fine. Just need to rest a while." She smiled as she turned to face her fellow lion.
She had a gorgeous pelt, and bright eyes. Very different from her own. Her crimson eyes narrowed lightly, "Were you trying to catch something?" She had barley heard the white lioness when she was on the other side of the tree.

Oh. That was good, Sen couldn't help but think. If the stranger had actually been hurt she'd have had no idea how to deal with it. When had she gotten so dependant on having that dumb brother around?
"Er... No." Yes. But, she'd rather lie and say 'no'. How would it look if a future queen couldn't even catch a stupid rabbit? Sure, this lioness didn't know she was a future 'queen', but that wasn't the point. Even if she was still commoner it would have been too embarassing. "No, I was just...sitting."
Smooth. Real smooth. "Were you?" She did seem really winded.

She laughed lightly. "No, I've just been running all day." She said as she licked her paw. She really wanted to get back to the pridelands, but she didn't want Feo to see her weak and worn out.
"I am getting a little hungry though." She heard her stomach growl at her and she looked down to it. "Okay, maybe a lot hungry." She said, her sentence not making sense.

How pathetic.
Sen took her own thoughts back soon enough. She really didn't have a choice when her own stomach turned traitor and echoed the growl of...whatever her name was. "I guess I'm a little hungry, too," she mumbled. "I'm Sen, by the way. If you're hungry, why don't you get one of the other Pridelanders to help you get something?"

She smiled and stretched, flexing her paws. "I'm Jinamizi. But you can call me Jina or Jin if you'd like." Jin did have a ring to it. That was it, the nickname her brother gave her stuck.
She stood and sniffed the air, "I would, but I haven't been in the pridelands for a few days." She said as something caught her nose. It was the rabbit that Sen was trying to get earlier. "I've been with my mother and brother in the Bahari'mtoto Lands."

"Baha-what?" Sen. Ever the uneducated about the names and ways of other prides. It wasn't her fault she'd never been to any Baha..ro..whatever it was called place! "Are you an outsider?" Come to think of it, she didn't really give off the 'Pridelander' sort of vibe.
Did she? She hoped not.
Stupid rabbit. Sen peered around the tree and debated trying to go after the thing again.

"I don't belong to the pride if that's what you're asking." She said as she crouched up wind of the hole. She looked over to Sen and made a shushing motion.
A few moments passed and the rabbit poked out of the hole once again. Jina took this moment to attack it. She took it in her moth, and in one strong bite, ended it's life. She turned and dropped the animal in front of Sen. "I'm not apart of any pride at the moment." Oh but she hoped she would one day.
While she was away, she realized how much she missed Feo. Even though they had only met once, they had a bond and she probably broke it when she left. A forlorn look adorned her features.

Sen startled. The rabbit was dropped at her feet and she stared at it. Yeah, well... she could have done that, too, if she'd wanted! She just didn't want to. Nor was she about to take a hand out. Still..
"Hey, you're pretty good," she complimented. "If you're not part of a pride, why don't you come with me? I have a pride... or, I will, really soon. I'm just here to..." To what? To visit her mom? No, she couldn't say that. That'd be far too lame. "To finish things."
Why did she look so sad all the sudden? "What's wrong?"

Jina looked back to Sen, "Oh, I'm sorry." She said as she managed a weak smile. "I just miss someone." She said as she sat down, her tail wrapping around her. "I was hoping to be able to join his pride." He said as she looked into Sen's eyes. "I'm sorry."
She looked back down to the dead rabbit. "Aren't you going to eat?"

"Suit yourself. But I'll tell ya now, the Pridesquad isn't so great. I think being a rogue is better. All the royalty are a bunch of brats, and you can't see anyone here alone there's just so many of them." Bitter? Nooo. She wasn't bitter.
Truthfully, Sen had never met the 'royalty' of the pride. Only her much-adored older brother had. She hadn't cared for sharing her attention with them, since her brother was their nanny, when she was younger. It had tainted their image in her mind.
The Pridelands in general wasn't something she was too fond of. Freedom was good, really!
"Huh?" She eyed the rabbit. "Oh, no. You caught it so you should eat it. It wouldn't be very good for my image, ya know?"

She laughed a little. "I've never really met any one of royal blood." She said as she started to tear apart the rabbit. It probably was a good thing that she didn't want any. It was a small meal, and Jina needed to keep up her strength if she wanted to continue on her trek.
She looked back up to Sen. "Are they really that bad?"

The smallest thing could set Sen off into a rant. The Pridelands? That was the most touchy of subjects, and the one she could ramble on the longest about. It was a good thing Sen hadn't wanted any, also, so she'd have something to do while the younger lioness was complaining.
"Are you kidding? Of course! They're all so...so... I don't even know what! I was born there, you know, so I know these things. I got out when I was younger--me n' my brother--and never looked back. There's nothing in the Pridelands worth it, if you ask me."

She lie down, her kill in front of her. Her paws had gotten tired again. She really needed to rest a while.
Jina looked up to Sen and smiled, "What about your parents? Are they still living in the Pridelands?" She hated being away from her family.
Over the years she had learned how to cope with her loss, but it still didn't help that her father had left her alone in the world. When she found her mother, it was the happiest moment of her life. She hated to leave her again, but she needed to apologize to Feo. Only the gods knew what she put him through.
