She stood at the edge of the forest, watching the sun drift down over the horizon. Night kept coming sooner and day... Day always seemed so far away.
The sun had soaked into her coat before it began to fall, filling her with a warmth that she hoped would be enough to last throughout the night. The winds coming down from the mountains were getting colder... Winter would be here soon. She could smell the frost lingering in the air, threatening to freeze the grass and paint the leaves silver if only until the sun came to chase it away in the morning.

He slipped through the trees like a whisper, or a half remembered dream... the dry sent of fresh fallen leaves, the damp must of last years fall still moldering into a sweet aroma that charicterised the season. Soon enough that hint of cold in the air would thicken to fat white flakes to blanket the world and leave him startly standing against a frozen world, crosshatched with black and bone baren trees. He Kicked up his heels a little at the puff of fog his breath made in the air before he galloped that last ways out of the forest. She caught his attention from the corner of his eye as he half stammered to a halt and wheeled to catch a better look. Even in the fading light the bright sky blue that tipped her hair looked almost like lightning. Make no mention of the rest of her patterning... He reared a little, playful... Who was this? "Sorry...Hello!" he called, cheerful...

She blinked, smiling as the sound of a voice touched ears that flickered towards it. Pale eyes set in darkness shined along with her smile as she shifted on her hooves. It was a strange face in the twilight, but one of the familiar colors of the evening and the lingering golden glow of the sun.
"... Hello." Her smile broadened slightly as she gave her head a light toss, long mane fluttering against her neck, tail swishing to caress her hind legs. "Enjoying the evening? Or chasing after the remnants of day?"

"Maybe a little of both" He grinned. Pretty, like a commet some how... or a fire... or... hard to tell really, vines and gold veins and splashes of blue like water that ran counter intuitive up her legs, almost wings down her slender ribs... he twitched his tail sending it shivers and curls along his flank at a fly that was never there.
"Are you waiting for Stars? Or hopeing for sunrise?" He moved just a step closer before, deciding it might be rude to be so forward. After all, kicks reached a long way if you upset someone.

"Maybe a little of both?" She mimed his response with a soft chuckle and a grin. "The stars for their beauty, the sun for its warmth..." Her head tilted slightly to the side as she eyed him as one would an old friend that they were becoming reacquainted with. "... And you? What are you waiting for, if you're waiting for anything at all?"

"I'm not waiting, I'm looking" He nodded... "Maybe for you..." The glint in his eye was purely playful, not rogueish...at least, not like that. "What about you? Are you waiting or looking?...If you're looking...maybe we could look together for a while. I'd like that..."
He nodded and danced a little from foot to foot, like a brease that could never quite sit still. "I'm Taiki..." he added as though an afterthought, as though names were less important than the being of something, or someone."

"Mm... You could be looking for me." She chuckled softly, giving her head another light toss. "Then again, in reverse, I suppose that I could be looking for you as well... But now that we are no longer lost and are, instead, found, where does that leave us?" Her brow lofted as she cocked her head just slightly to the side.
"Taiki... Taiki." She said it once more, committing his name to memory as she thought on it. "My name is Tanllwyth... But I could hardly say that is who I am when I am certain I am more than just my name."

"Well, if we're both found, we're at the begining" He shook his head sending his curls wild directions. "I'd be sad, if someone were just their name... It would be so limiting." He glanced around and flicked his tail... "It's open...and theirs still light, I'd like to run, will you join me? We can chase the fireflies...or watch for commets...or find a hill and wait for sunrise... I'd bet its beautiful, with this chill in the air."

"It would be... To be no more than a name... Just one little word, in most cases." She shook off a soft, wistful sigh off, ignoring possibilities and might-have-beens.
"Run?" It had gotten a bit cooler. The sun slipping beneath the horizon had taken the last of its warmth to bed and the air, though still, was rather chilly. "That... Would be wonderful." She smiled brightly. "Where shall we race to? Do you think we can make it to the stars and back before dawn?"

"We'll have to try and see!" He said and kicked up his heels... "Follow me! I'll show you! The Highest hill I know...from there the path of ansestors...and from there, spirits guide the way!" He beamed and tossed his head, springing forward like he'd been set free from binding shackles and glancing back with wild and laughing eyes to see if you followed, like dawn chansed the night, thier fingers locked in the gloaming between dawn and dusk.

Her soft laughter followed him as she watched him run ahead for a moment before rearing back, batting hooves at the sky only to come down and take chase. Her mane and tail streamed out behind her like blue flames flickering in the wind. It didn't take her long to catch up to him and, when she did, she evened out her pace, flashing a bright smile along with a soft whicker.

"You're quick!" He said delighted, and hazarded a soft nose to her shoulder in tease. The moon glinted on his horn and scales, bright even in the evening light, not unlike the foxfire of her hair.
"Fireflies!" He said suddenly delighted "I thought they be gone by now!" But sure enough as you both crested a hillock, the last of them still darted sleepily
stubborn perhaps, but lurking there around a pond of cat tails and flickering like tiny lanterns in the branches of a weeping willow, whom had tucked up her 'skirts' to dip grey 'toes' into the cool water... it was quite beautiful. the valley dipped her, and seemed to reach on forever, curving back and forth so slightly with the stream that ran out from the pond... no doubt fed by some underground spring.

"Practice." She continued again as she shifted closer to him, brushing her shoulder gently against his. "Little surprises are delightful things this late in the season... So is good company."

He perked slightly delighted, she thought him good company! He could have bucked like a foal. "Couldn't ask for prettier..." he replied before realizing that it had slipped free and his ears flicked embarrassedly "Just here!" He said and circled roung the cat tails sending a bull frog diving for the middle "The valley is perfect for sunrises...if we keep going though, theirs a tremendous down, so tall and clear. A hard climb though, are you practiced enough?" He said a little teasing, a glitter in his emerald eyes.

"Company or sunsets?" She chuckled as she rounded the pond, feeling almost light enough to leave the ground and thunder through the sky. She had heard those with wings speak of freedom of their own without realizing that those not blessed with such things could be just as free.
"I'll let you know when I grow weary... Until then, don't worry. I think I can keep up." She flashed the stallion a teasing grin of his own, not worried about her ability to make it across the terrain.
