A friend of mine sent me a website, not sure if you've all seen this before or not.
www.godhatesfags.com
Theres a list of statistics on there that piss me off, though some are hilarious.
Did you realise that you are 100% more likely to be murdered if your gay? Yeah right wouldn't that mean no straight people are murdered?
Alot of my friends are gay and i happen to be bi so im definatly agianst this site, i just find it morbidly interesting when i come across stuff like this.

Westboro got used as an example of false teachers in Bible class the other day.
I have never felt as much potential faith in humanity as I did in that moment.

I've always found it funny that the bible says not to judge fellow man, but we get this. The bible is extremely contradictory. I guess it means, "Don't judge your fellow christians who are straight and churchgoing." So if they're different from you, judge them all you please.
God hates whoever the people using him as an excuse hate.

Blame the fools who've re-interpreted it and rewritten the new testament every time they feel like supporting their own interests.

Lyoko_Alchemist Did you realise that you are 100% more likely to be murdered if your gay? Yeah right wouldn't that mean no straight people are murdered? Actually no. If you are twice as likely to be murdered if gay than if straight, that would be adding 100%. You cannot have 100% "more" than a zero value, as that would just be adding zero to zero. Now your statement could be derived from the statement "100% less likely to be murdered if straight" I think you were trying to use a property of addition where multiplication was more valid.

It's kind of sad though, what do they think they will gain from this? And don't they feel bad?

Lyoko_Alchemist It's kind of sad though, what do they think they will gain from this? And don't they feel bad? Ha! Of course they don't feel bad! They've got God snuggling up with them. Frankly, Fred Phelps has become so overblown, and his message has become so ridiculous, that his whole campaign is basically one long joke for the entire nation with the inevitable punchline being one of the family being gay and/or athiest. It's TV drama, and eventually it'll fade away or burn out.

Even on their site, they acknowledge that what they want is media attention, even though their message offers literally NO hope for salvation for most people in the country. unfortunately, that's what they're getting out of the judicial system's attempt to stop them. their unfair treatment of military personnel and homosexuals is a disgrace to religion in general. although i don't already hold religion in high regard, i pity those Christians who must be compared with these people.

About a year or two ago the BBC had a special about the Phelps family. A reporter went to stay with the family and followed them along through their daily routines, which involved going to work, attending school and, of course, protesting funerals. It was a real eye-opener; this isn't a church, it's a cult.
I'm tired and can't remember the whole thing clearly, but here's a few things that I recall caught my attention:
Phelps's oldest daughter was attending college and basically admitted that she had no friends outside her family, but that was okay with her because her classmates were going to Hell anyway. What was actually moving, though, was that as she was saying these things, you could tell by her face that she was lonely.
The youngest children were brought along on the protest, and it was unnervingly funny because when the reporter asked them what "fags" were, they didn't know.
And the most frustrating part came when the reporter finally had a chance to talk with Fred Phelps himself. Whenever the reporter would ask a question, Phelps's answer was always "I'm not going to answer that because that's a stupid question; why are you wasting my time with stupid questions?" I couldn't believe people were actually following what this idiot said.
I remember seeing the whole special on YouTube, but I just did a search for it and nothing came up. I wish I could remember the name of the reporter...
