It was a perfect night to fly. Starry and clear, with a full moon to light the skies. Athena remained on the ground, however, as she was still unsteadily clumsy in the air. She wanted to be able to look up at the stars tonight, instead of focusing on whether her wings were at the right angle, or if she was about to crash into the top of a tree. She'd found the perfect clearing in which to do so, as well. It was peaceful, quiet, tranquil. A fitting place in which to recline, stargazing.

The wounds from an ordeal from so long ago had sealed and the deep gashes were nothing but scars left to imprint his memory and an unsettled hatred for the unicorn known as Heavens Tear. But that temperment had changed- Ezriel had gained control of the powerful, unseen entity of darkness that abided within him and could weild such a power at will; letting the demon within consume him when the time called for such measures but such a technique wasn't completely flawless- there were times where it still got the better of him but the stallion did regain composure and react against the darkness before it did get out of hand.
Alone he drifted within the night, forlorn underneath the open plains as the stars above seemed to be the only company that dared to join him this evening. The stallion glanced upwards, intaking the scene of the night sky with his soul-less, desolate orbs while his crimson brows were left to knit with simple wonderment.
Even he could admit that it was quite a night.
The shadows that shrouded him began to dissapate as he wandered father into the clearing, his orbs level with the untrodded path before him while a light breeze seemed to push him onwards like some unseen companion that ruffled his mane and soothed him with its jaunter that could only be understood if one was to listen closely. As he adhered to the need to move on and to rummage onward, a scent seemed to bombard his nostrils.
What was this?
Ezriels ears flicked upwards as he glanced around, his hair standing upon his neck. That scent- it was so familiar, he knew it well and even the recollection of it caused his jowls to clench tightly and a low, displeased rumble to summon forth from his chest.
"Heavens Tear," he spat low and with an acidic tone as he narrowed his eyes in the direction of the figure who stood several lengths away.
There was a part of him that sought to teach her a lesson- to finish her off and to rid of the crazed, psychotic unicorn from all existence while, on the other hoof, there was a part of him that wanted nothing to do with her and found it better to leave and move onward. He was better than that- he knew he was. There was no point in attacking her out of spite and try as he might, he witheld his inner demon from any rash and sudden attempts at blindsighting the mare.
For a few moments he stood there, jowls continuing to clench with great fierocity as his spaded, spiked tail swayed distastefully behind him.
How was he to approach this situation?

"Heaven's Tear."
The silibant 'sss' carried through the air, and Athena tensed. With a slow, careful movement, she turned her head. The sight that greeted her eyes was that of a tall and hostile-appearing stallion, adorned with spikes and a spaded tail. The use of her mother's name didn't puzzle her, she knew she looked much like her...even if she hadn't been mistaken for her before this. But the hostility...why was this? "I believe you are mistaken..." the alicorn said, smoothly rising to her feet and stretching her wings. "That would be my mother."

For several moments he watched her silently as thoughts simply mulled through his mind and his attention was focused upon her. He had managed to silently reason with himself that he wouldn't be as idotic or careless to begin a brawl (or have to endure one where the outcome was and already had been leveled in his favor do to his weaponry) but he was very much attentive of her. Yet- there seemed something strange and a minor detail tweaked and it was something that he couldn't exactly put a hoof on. Yet as she spoke- Ezriel's crimson brows knitted slightly as a snort erupted from out of his nostrils.
He clenched his jowls slightly, tail flicking behind him as his void-less orbs settled upon the alicorn. "You're mother? Well, well, well- it seemed that somehow she did manage to live after she attempted to kill me too bad she was the one who had to learn the lesson to never underestimate one whom she has never met," he commented low, reserved as he took several steps forward with a casual stroll.
Those marks from Tears attack had remained scarred with a pink hue against his pale, white hide and it ws certain that they would never go away much like a condemned curse upon him.
"But I suppose I shouldn't hold what concerns of the past over your head- the offspring of the mentally unstable and the insane most often stray from their parents ways, don't they?" Ezriel mused softly, arching a crimson brow upwards as he stood at a comfortable distance between them. His posture was rather at ease- non threatening and loose than the once tense and ridged stance he held. He didn't feel threatened- no, he felt like being civilized and decent and tried to avoid conflict and dispute. To say the least, he was tired and any senseless brawling was the last thing he wanted.
The mutant stallion swayed his head to the right as his long, flowing locks of purest crimson swept to the side and away from his eyes as he simply leveled his attention more with that of the Alicorn.
"Names Ezriel. And who are you?"

Athena managed to keep from tensing, though delicate nostrils flared. "Yes...however, I would thank you to refrain from speaking of her in such a way. She cannot change what she is." The young mare had long since become accustomed to her dam's constantly shifting temper, even taking it upon herself to check on her as the alicorn felt the need. Tossing a mane that seemed to be in a perpetually tousled state, she fixed the stallion with a cool look. "I am Athena."

The mutant managed to give a small, minute grin that curled upon his maw. His void-less orbs of blackest, black noted the mares attempt at keeping emotion from causing her body to tense, to become rigid and stiffened with the flow of perhaps a mix of emotions and feelings on such a subject. His muzzle wrinkled slightly as his brows knitted- jowls barely clenching as he gave a curt nod of his head. "There are some who can change their fate and some who can't," he simply remarked with a shurg of his shoulders, his crimson locks flowing about towards the ground and over the coarse grass. "Its not impossible unless the individual makes it impossible. Everyone keeps a few skeletons and dirty secrets and they can rid of them if they choose- but the process itself is not easy."
Even after studying the mare it was more than evident that she was not like her mother- nothing like Heavens Tear. No, she seemed more cool, composed and an individual whose body, mind and soul was not conflicted with the syndrone or affliction that her mother suffered from. Ezriel flicked his spiked tail behind him as he nodded.
"A pleasure," he returned just as cooly and non-chalant.
It still felt surreal, he could have sworn at first that it was Tear but thank the spirits that it wasn't! He stepped a bit closer, his posture more dominant and his stature raised high- compared to the severely conflicted and tormented youth, Ezriel had come quite a long way and he was learning to control the darkness within for his benefit. Though most often he could feel its presence linger and desire to help him in a given situation, the stallion rebuked such a request as best he could. Somehow he felt renewed and more alive than before- who could have thought that it was possible to live with an inner demon?
His ears flickered as he glanced upwards towards the stars. "So what brings you out in the middle of nowhere, Athena? Of all places- why here?"

Why here? Athena was amused at such a question, letting a gentle smile cross her features. "Why indeed, when the night reigns, when the stars shine down from a clear sky in a glittering array? You have but to look up to see the reason I am here." A soft laughed escaped her. "Why indeed...I am not simply my mother's daughter. My sire's line is of the night..." She trailed off, tail swishing behind her quietly. She knew well that neither of her parents had planned for her, nor did they hold much affection for each other despite caring deeply for their offspring. She accepted that she was, in essence, an accident of coincidence. But she didn't want to speak of it to this stranger. Not just yet.

At her answer, the stallion couldn't help but glance upwards towards the clear night sky as the stars themselves seemed to give the illusion of millions of scattered diamonds cast and encrusted within a deep, blue tapestry. The night was pure with no clouds obscuring the view of the heavens and a crescent moon looming above- it was something rare and even the mutant seemed to appriciate the view and scenic display. Looking back towards the mare, he managed to smile and nod his head.
"It is a sight to see," he commented. "I guess I've never taken the time to admire the stars before- its a nice change."
Ezriel swayed his head as his crimson locks swept over his shoulder and down his neck and all about with an eerie elegance. His mind seemed to mull over the subtle similarity between himself and Athena. If only she knew that he himself was a mistake and never was suppose to have been given life as his mother was left to die, Ezriel was constantly left to ponder about why he did exist. Why? Did he have a purpose? Besides his fathers belief that he was to be his heir and legacy, the stallion was uncertain of most everything. It was strange- did everything in life have a purpose or was meant to be for some reason?
He shook his head and flared his nostrils slightly. Ezriel didn't want to think of such things for the moment.
His lips pursed slightly as he looked upwards towards the sky. "Are you the only child?" Ezriel questioned, glancing back towards the mare. "Or do you have a sibling?"
