Well, what was there to do now? Being accepted by Queen Kami was one of those things that just got your adrenaline pumping. However, now that it was over, Chu'mana didn't know where to go or what to do. It still wasn't time to go and visit Siltim at the watering hole, so she would need to find something else to do to pass the time.

As her yellow eyes scanned the landscape around, the bright green lioness padded along slowly, trying to think of what to do next. She could always try to make a friend, now that she was officially part of the pride? Yes, a friend. She hadn't really had any of those for a very long time... And it was high time she tried to find one.

Having been accepted only a few weeks earlier, Shiri knew the same feeling that Chu'mana was currently facing. Shiri had ventured to the pridelands, nervous, shy and entirely certain that she would be immedietly pegged off as a "rogue". When she actually made her way past the borders, she was greeted by many kind faces that knew no difference between her and their own people. In fact, her closest pridelander friend, Chunuka, claimed that she appeared like the royal line of pridelanders!

Returning, once more, from the roguelands, in which she couldn't completely leave yet, Shiri scanned the prideland border for any sign of her yellow friend. She hadn't offered him a goodbye, but hoped that he simply thought she was somewhere in the lands. During her search for him, she spotted a strange green lioness that stood out boldly. Her fur was an incredible color and she had, what appeared to be a snake marking wrapped around her shoulder.

What peeked Shiri's curiosity the most was that this lioness appeared to be looking for something. Approaching cautiously, Shiri smiled and offered support, "Hello. I am Shiri.." And having been so bold, the naturally socially awkward lioness stopped and thought over what she could say, "..Can I help you find anything?"

Taken aback by the appearance of this lioness which seemed to be out of nowehere, Chu'mana took a second to recollect her thoughts, as well as claim her voice back, since it had run away.

"Oh. Hello there.", she said meekly, looking around a few seconds to try and think of what next there was to say. "Looking for ssssomething? Well.. Yess, I am, actually. As odd as it may sssound, I'm looking for a friend."

Chu began to feel shy, as she had never really asked anyone about a friend of any sorts. Her slight hissing was also bothering her, as she had thought that it was gone by now. Apparently not though. Hopefully this lion.. Shiri.. Didn't mind.

"Oh! I forgot to sssay. My name is Chu'mana. It'sss a pleassure to meet you, Ssshhiri."

By the shocked expression on the other's face, Shiri assumed that she had certainly frightened her. She had been told on countless occassions that her golden fur gave her an incredible benefit in hunting, as well as simply remaining hidden. Perhaps the green lioness had not seen her approaching in the brush?

When the lioness responded, Shiri stopped where she was and smiled. It was incredibly awkward to simply approach someone, but it seemed they had their pride in common with one another and certainly that could start some sort of conversation. When the lioness began to stutter, Shiri felt an instant closeness. It took her a great amount of effort to gather the courage to say hello, let alone speak clearly and remain collected. Listening to the lioness continue, however, Shiri noticed it wasn't a stutter at all, but rather a sort of lisp whenever she used the letter s.

Unable to keep silent because of how awkward it might become, Shiri took a short bow and continued to speak, "It is also a pleasure to meet you, Chu'mana. I recently joined the pridelands and happen to also be looking for a friend. When did you join?"

A rogue who had recently joined! What a coincidence! Not that this could become anymore weird than it already was, but Chu decided that she liked this lioness. For her, that wasa first. The only other lioness he had ever liked was Na'ilah, Siltim's mother. Otherwise, she was usually foul against them, and tended to avoid them.

"Ummm.. Jusssst the other day, actually. I've been talking to the Queen for awhile, but it wass officccial as of yessterday." The lioness smiled some, hoping that this new Pridelander would become a good friend in the near future. Chu knew that she needed the conversation.

"What about you?", she questioned. "When did you join?"

Sungura had been on one of his normal adventures with his daughter, when the conversation between two pridelander females caught his attention. With the protection of Memetuka, their lion friend, Sungura and Cheshi felt much more at home in the pridelands. Perhaps too at home, at times. Inching closer and offering a "stay put" kind of look to the curious Kutulia behind him, Sungura continued to listen in. His black coat could easily be spotted by the lions if they chose to look into the tall grass nearby. The hare was certain to remain absolutely silent. Not all lions in the pridelands knew that he was not something to be hunted.

Shiri continued to smile, listening carefully as Chu'mana spoke to her about her joining. Kami, the queen of the pridelands, was such a beautiful, friendly lioness. Shiri thought back to when she joined only weeks earlier. The lioness had been very willing to accept Shiri, thinking that Shiri's connection with the pride could be no coincidence. It made the yellow colored lioness feel even more at home in such a new pride to her.

"I actually joined a couple of weeks ago. Sought out Kami and had a pleasant conversation.. To be honest.." Shiri glanced around before she spoke, "I was expecting someone much larger and more frightening. Kami is just like a normal lioness! Much easier to speak to!" Shiri appeared relieved, apparently remembering her nerves when she had first spoke to Kami.

Chu nodded her head some, her green hair bouncing up and down on top of her head. "Yesss. Kami is rather easssy to talk to, ssurprissingly. For the leader of ssssuch a large and proud pride, you'd think ssshhe would have a tone about her, but ssshhe doessssn't. Sssshhe'sss an amazing lionessssss. I'm sssurprissed ssshhe'sss sstill going ssstrong."

Taking a brief moment to scope out the land around them, Chu'mana bright, yellow eyes caught the site of something black in the grass. Blinking some, she thought it to be nothing more than a mere rock. However, not many rocks were that black. Starting to question it in her mind, she cocked her head to the side, her pink nose wiggling as she sniffed the air.

"A hare...", she quietly muttered to herself, her yellow eyes becoming larger and losing the concentration on the lioness in front of her.

Shiri listened carefully to what Chu'mana had said. Her hissing made things somewhat difficult to understand, but it didn't bother Shiri at all. The lioness actually worried that her own name might bother Chu since it started with an s. Remaining quiet to better hear her new friend, Shiri smiled once she finished. It appeared as though they both had no idea what to expect when they greeted the queen.

Cocking her head to the side, the lioness looked over to Chu'mana and questioned her, "A hare? But I don't even small anyt...." Shiri's voice cut off as she realised that her friend was completely correct. Lost in their conversation and glad for similarities, Shiri had not even paid mind to their surroundings. The sign of a great huntress was to be aware of her surroundings, Shiri was once told. Lowering her ears rather embarassed, Shiri made her way beside Chu'mana, looking about for the site of him. "You're right.."

Shaking the sudden interest and hunger from her mind, Shiri became aware of the laws of the land. "But are we not to treat the smaller creatures of the land as our own? And simply hunt in the hunting grounds?"

Sungura remained where he was, still and now growing increasingly worried. He could hear that their conversation had ended and now a pair of golden eyes were locked on him. His appearance seemed to have dazzed Chu'mana. She no longer looked to Shiri and quickly a single word fell from her mouth, 'hare'. The way she spoke and watched sent a shiver up the dark hare's back and he looked to Kutulia nervously. "I think it might be best to head off..." As he spoke, he continued to watch Shiri. It was the same lioness who spoke to Memetuka, but now she was a pridelander. Perhaps the dark hare might speak to Meme when he returned to the den.

Hearing Shiri's words of worry and truth slip into her furry ears, Chu'mana shook herself loose. She was a little hungry, but she wasn't going to let that overcome her. Otherwise, she'd have to face both herself and the Queen. That wouldn't be much of a good thing, and she knew it.

"Yess. You're right. I'm sssorry. I'm sssoo ussed to ssssimply lisstening out for other animalsss that I guesssss it didn't click in my mind that I can't do that here."

Having looked away for a second, Chu had forgotten about the hare. However, when she looked back in it's direction, she saw it's black body once more. She could feel her stomach rumbling, but she did her best to ignore it. She knew the laws of the land, and she knew what she was supposed to do.

Darn her rumbling stomach though!

When Chu'mana quickly covered up her instinct to hunt the hare, Shiri felt a bit guilty. The two of them were of an equal ranking to one another. Both huntresses of the pride. Shiri had no right to tell Chu'mana what she was supposed to do, or not do. She knew the pride worked as a team and simply wished to remind, or notify her new friend of what Kami had told her. "I don't mean to badger you.. I simply was curious myself. In the roguelands, you don't worry about eating friends.."

Watching the hare carefully, Shiri narrowed her eyes to get a better look at it. He seemed somewhat familiar. Black hare, beady brown eyes. When he neared them, she thought she saw spiral markings on his paws. Shiri dug into the back of her mind to remember, but the memory wasn't quite there. When Shiri heard the rumble of her friend's stomach, she grinned and thought to the hunt between her and Chunuka. Surely, she would do the same with her new friend.

"Hungry? We could always visit the hunting grounds."

Sungura was certain now, when Shiri continued to look at him that she was whom he thought she was. She was the same golden color and striking pale green eyes. He remembered that she reminded him greatly of a younger Memetuka, but wasn't quite sure of why. Now she seemed much more at ease in the company of the other lioness. Perhaps she wouldn't grow up to be so alone and shy like Meme. That would likely be better for her.

Chu shook her head some, fighting off the hunger pains that erupted in her stomach. Yes, she was hungry, but she didn't really feel like hunting right now. If she tried, she probably would of had very poor luck, and only exhausted herself. So, it was probably best to not even bother. Maybe later was a better idea.

"No thankssss. I'll be alright for now. I'm not really in the mood to hunt or anything, ssssoo my catch wouldn't be a good one. Thank you for offering though."

She watched the hare from a little ways away, thinking of her time in the rogue lands as her new friend had brought it up. One thing was for sure... Chu'mana knew she was glad to be away from them.

"While I'd love to sssstay, I ssshhould probably get going ssssoooon. I promissssed my mate that I'd sssseeee him later on today."

When Chu'mana declined hunting, Shiri wondered if her friend was worried about embarassing herself. Shiri had only successfully hunted a few times in her life and surprised herself to be alive in the roguelands. With the help of Kei and Chunuka, she was feeling more confident with herself and learning the tricks. Shiri remained curious about the topic, she didn't bother to ask it of her friend. If Chu'mana was trying to avoid embarassment, Shiri wished to keep from upsetting her.

And then, sadly, Chu'mana said that she would need to go. Shiri had been filled with childish glee when she found a new friend, someone in which she shared so much in common. At the thought of Chu'mana leaving, Shiri was sort of returned to her normal self. She glanced around, looking for something she could occupy her time with. The pridelands was a wonderful home, but the yellow lioness had only two friends to occupy her time. Perhaps she could meet more? Or find Chunuka?

While worrying about what to do, Shiri almost missed what her friend had said. Mate? A blush came to Shiri's cheeks and she smiled, "Mate? Dare I ask for you to tell me about him?" Shiri's tail waved about behind her. Throughout her life, she always dreamed of romance, but never considered the possibility for herself. When she heard her friend had found a mate, it seemed a possibility for Shiri. The thought of Kei appeared in her mind and she blushed brighter.

As the conversation changed the something that Sungura would rather hear little of, he turned on his heal. The females had lost interest in him and he would need to seek out Memetuka in order to explain to her what he found out! If Shiri was someone to be worried of, he wanted his companion to know before the two of them stumbled upon one another! In a panic, the father hare grabbed ahold of his daughter and darted off quickly.

Just as Chu'mana was going to turn around, say her goodbyes, and head off, her new friend asked her a question she hadn't expected. She wanted to know about her mate. Bright yellow eyes blinked some and a small smile appeared on the lioness's face. She loved to talk about Siltim, as he was the one that had completely changed her life around. Without him, she'd still be stuck in that thorny forest with all those snakes... Miserable and unable to care for anyone at all.

"My mate? He'sss my heart and ssssoul, literally. Without him, I probably wouldn't be here right now. I would of never left my old home, and I would of never changed the way I act, or feel. I love my mate... He'sss perfect for me, and I wouldn't trade him for anything elssse out there."

Chu had just realized that she had rambled on and on. However, it didn't bother her that much. Without her mate, she really wouldn't of been here.... And she didn't think that he realized that he meant that much to her. Someday though, it would all make sense to him, and the love between them would be stronger than it ever had been before.

"Why do you ask, Ssshhiri?"
PostPosted: Wed Nov 21, 2007 9:09 am

Shiri noticed the slow smile that appeared at Chu'mana's face and she couldn't help but smile in return. Her friend's expression was one as absolute happiness and Shiri longed to share in that feeling. When Chu'mana proceeded to describe Siltim, Shiri felt goosebumps cover her body. She spoke with such devotion. Shiri hoped and could feel that Siltim felt the same.

Like she had thought earlier, Kei appeared in her mind at Chu'mana's mentioning. It caused Shiri to blush greatly and look towards her paws. Why did she think of him? Kei was not her mate and surely he did not feel that way towards her.

As Chu'mana questioned Shiri, the lioness looked up, sweet smile on her face. "Oh.. It's nothing really. I was just curious." She didn't mean to lie to her new friend, but she couldn't think of how to explain it. She, herself, did not understand the situation between her and Kei.

Excusing herself and stepping back, Shiri took a short bow and offered her farewell, "Hurry to him, Chu'mana. You're a lucky lioness."

The bright green lioness bowed her head back to Shiri, accepting her as her new, and most awesome friend here. The only others she had talked to were Siltim and his family. It was nice to talk to a lioness that didn't belong to Siltim's family. It helped to prove to Chu'mana that she was indeed brave enough to make her own friends, regardless of the situation at hand.

"I will. It wass really niccce to meet you, Sssshhiri. I look forward to talking with you again. After all, you are my besssst friend here, and I really, really apprecciate it."

With her short statement said, Chu'mana smiled some more and turned around, padding back to the Pridelands, where Siltim was most likely waiting for her. She twitched her tail behind her, saying her final goodbyes to her new friend. What a most awesome day this had turned out to be.
