The real reason is because He couldn't take over Itachis body. My favorite reason is because He and Itachi got into a 'I'm so eviler than you' contest, and Itachi droped Orochimaru-samas muffin on the floor. I mean, how much eviler then that can you get? Oh, also because Orochimaru-sama made a gay cheer.
