Cold, yet sunny the day was. Which is what made it fun for the mostly black female kit. She jumped from one puddle to the next, it had rained a few days ago making it an excellent thing to do on a day like this. Her nose was numb from the cold air nipping at her face. It wasn't that cold, or at least she thought so. Her toes and paws were also numb, but her being the age she was it was as if she couldn't tell at all.
Snow was just around the corner, or at least the smell of it was fresh in the air. It was slowly turning from fall to winter. She wiggled her bobbed tail back and forth as she finally stopped jumping in every puddle she saw. Shaking her fur, to get the water droplets out of it. Her normally light purple and blue speckles seemed rather dark and more dull the normal when wet.
There weren't many trees around, but a few here and there. It seemed she had strayed a lot farther from her family then she thought. But it wasn't like her daddy wouldn't come and find her when he realized she was missing. Or she would end up finding him. In fact, she didn't even notice that her family wasn't around close by. Her mind was more interested on the things around her for the moment. The mud, the leaves, and the puddles made nice entertainment.

Snowprint was used to the cold and usually enjoyed the brisk morning air before a snowfall. Sitting on the cold, chilling ground Snow scanned the sky for any sign of clouds that may bring him a blizzard he can enjoy. Flicking his ear he lowered his gaze and noticed a black and pink figure a little off in the distance.
Curious on what the speck was, Snow rose to his feet and padded his way towards the object in question. Every step if his foot crunched the cold, frozen and icy grass under his weight. Swaying his tail side to side with his steps, sending an extra image to his whitish figure. He was proud of his camouflaged pelt and was even more excited about the winter season drawing ever closer to the cool field.
Finally reaching the small black figure Snow realized how small it really way. Figuring it was just the distance that had played mind games with it's size he soon noticed that it was a young and playful Ulaya, shaking water droplets off her shiny and smooth fur. Smiling at the sight of another Ulaya, Snow sat down on the ground and watched her for a while, waiting for her to perhaps notice him. Deciding it wasn't the best way to go he wrapped his tail around his legs and spoke up. "Nice morning, isn't it?" He didn't want to startle the little one but didn't want her to think he was intruding either.

She wasn't startled by the sudden voice that she heard behind her. Of course it made her curious and turn around to see if the adult was indeed talking to her. Looking left and right after seeing him, she realized he was indeed talking to her. She wagged her bobbed tail around as she beamed up at the adult. Perhaps he knew where she was?
He didn't look at all like her father. He had strange horns sticking out of his head, and where she had a bobbed tail, he had a very long fluffy one. "Are... Are you a Ulaya?" She asked not trying to be rude. She had totally forgotten what he had asked her that made her turn around. She had so many questions to ask him, and she had only just saw him!
More and more questions started swirling around her head, as she looked at him. "What is that sticking out of your head?" She continued with another one. "And your tail!" She looked at it again. He seemed so interesting! She wagged her tail more as she walked closer to him. Slightly shivering from being wet, yet didn't even notice she was.

Letting his smile never falter he flicked the tip of his tail and watched her babble with excitement. Nodding at a question or two he licked his soft lips and lifted a paw some off the ground. "Yes, I am an Ulaya. I don't think I have seen many creatures our size of any other species actually." He hadn't thought about it until now and was slightly amused with the images of possible creatures that may exist.
"These are my horns and this is just my tail." He patted down the fur on his tail and watched it poof back up. Wondering if he'll ever tame it he looked back to the young Ulaya and watched as she wiggled her own in return. He liked how curiously cute she was and was glad he didn't hesitate speaking to her.
Noticing she was shaking some from the cold and her wet fur, Snow looked around for any chance of seeing her parents or maybe a place she may have come from. "Where did you come from anyway?" He found it suddenly odd that she would be way out here on her own with such weather nearing, especially at her age. He decided, if there was nowhere for her to go, he would keep her warm during the snow that was coming ever closer to them.

She got even more excited about hearing more of this other. Another ulaya! It was so awesome. Well, she could have figured he was a ulaya, but some had different names. She wagged her tail and stepped closer. "Oh? Horns?" she nodded interestingly.
Then when he mentioned where she came from. "I came from my mommy's belly!" She said very proud of herself. She nodded and almost fell from the motion of her head. But didn't everyone come from their mommy's bellies? Maybe he didn't have a mommy? How horrible would it be to not have a mommy. "Don't you have one?" she asked him with wide eyes.

"Well everyone has a mother don't they?" he was triying to sound smart and thoughful at the same time. He looked back at where he came from, where the clouds were starting to darken and the smell in the air became more winter like with every passing moment. Letting out a sigh at her not so useful reply, Snow looked back down at her and smiled once again.
"Do you have somewhere to go during the snow storm?" He enjoyed the snow and how he seemed invisible in it, always walking distances in the storms for it was his favorite weather to stroll in. But he didn't want her to get too cold as she was already shivering while she gazed upon him.

Snow? What was snow? She looked up at him curiously. Questions once more swirling threw her head. She continued to wag her tail, it seemed to not take a break at all. "Snow? What's that?" She asked him. Her eyes not anywhere else but him. She didn't even take notice to the few leaves that had just floated to the ground.
"Mommy and daddy always make me sleep with them." She said now thinking about her family. She finally broke her stare at the male to look around for her parents. They must be around her somewhere. As she looked, she finally noticed that she was indeed not where she thought she was. None of her family in sight. Her ears went back and she took a step towards the male without noticing. She felt so alone now.

Snowprint raised his paw and scratched behind his head at the thought of someone not knowing what snow was. "Oh well snow is like really cold rain only it's not." He had no idea how to explain it in a simple manor that she may understand without getting confused. With an obvious confused and thoughtful look on his face he hadn't noticed that the younger Ulaya was suddenly down and quiet.
Glancing back down at her he continued on with the previous conversation for he hadn't seen her yet. "Well I guess you'll have to see it eventually if you're still out here with me." Suddenly seeing her he stopped what he was saying and laid down on his belly to see her eye to eye. "Oh no, what's wrong? I didn't mean to go on like that." He was completely oblivious to what she was really saddened about but didn't have a clue in his mind what to think. This was the first time he had been around a young Ulaya her age and not have their parents around as well.
Unsure what to do Snow sat back up and wrapped his arm around her, resting his paw on the shoulder. "It's okay, I like the snow and it won't be too bad." He was starting to get the idea that he wasn't the problem and decided to try his hardest to comfort her and assure her that he was there through the entire storm if he had to be. Snow was an Ulaya of his word and would help anyone he felt needed his assistance, which was this little Ulaya at the moment.

Her attention was taken away the fact that she didn't know where she was or her parents, when he went on about snow. Curiosity took her again. "Oh? Rain... I like rain." She said as she looked at him curiously. Her tail was wagging again. She knew she forgot something, but what was it. She gave herself a small shrug and continued to look at the adult male.
"Is... is there any snow around here?" She asked him wanting to know. He knew a lot about this snow. She wanted to know everything about it! Cold rain. but rain was already cold wasn't it? She didn't bother to ask just in case he was about to say something.

Laughing a little about how fast she recovered from her slight sadness he pulled his arm back and rubbed his chin as if to show he was deep in thought. "Cold rain that isn't really rain at all. It's in little flakes." He started carving into the ground with his claw the shape of a snowflake. "No two snowflakes are the same." He finally said with a defiant nod as he finished his little drawing in the ground.
Letting her be entertained with what he had just carved into the dirt, Snowprint looked back up to see the clouds moving closer and faster. A bone chilling wind flowed through the field and made his fur dance on his body. His pelt was thicker then any normal Ulaya and about as warm as a husky, making him comfortable in the cold weather but he knew she couldn't last as long as him and he lowered his gaze to find somewhere for them to hide out the nasty weather. The only place he could find nearby that wasn't completely open was the forest's entrance and he decided they would go there and look for a more cozy hideout after. The tree's height will keep most of the wind far above them and the snow wouldn't be as harsh to their faces.

"Flakes?" She tilted her head and looked up at him still curious. He knew so much! Almost as much as mommy and daddy! she thought to herself as she looked up at him excitingly. Her tail continued to go back from all the excitement. Her gaze went from his face to his paw and watched him dig into the earth.
Well, to her it looked like he was digging. As the cold breeze came, she just shivered a little bit, but didn't notice it. To her mind, she wasn't cold at all. She was thinking about other things, but to her body, it was freezing. Her fur wasn't long, and wasn't really good for the winter. Or at least, not yet. Still only baby fur, that was fluffy and soft, but not as warm as it would be when she's older.

"Well come on little one" Snowprint stood up and signaled for her to follow him into the forest. If she didn't have anywhere to go he didn't want her to freeze to death waiting for the colder weather to arrive. Making sure she was indeed following close behind him they stepped into the forest's entrance, leaving behind the chilling breeze of the open field.
Snow could hear his claws scraping against the cold, hard ground and twitched his hear with an attempt to ignore the silence. Turning his head back he watched her pad behind him, smiling at how many more steps she needed compared to him to keep herself caught up. "There should be a cave a little ways into this forest. We can stay there for the night." The forest was quiet for all of the birds and woodland critters were getting ready for the harsh weather ahead.

Go? She was going somewhere now? She wagged her tail as he stood up. She copied his movements. She followed him, curious to where he was taking her. Perhaps he knew where her parents were? The thought of losing them had just came back to her mind. Her thoughts weren't of sadness though, it was of happiness. He was taking her back to them. Yes... That was it.
Oh! It was a sleep over! How fun! This made things even more exciting. She wagged her tail and kept silent as she tried to keep up with him. He moved so fast, yet it seemed he wasn't moving much at all. For every one step he took, she had three or for she had to take. "Is this a sleep over?" She asked happily as she watched plants go by as she pasted them. This was great!

Snowprint laughed a little and nodded his head with a smile. "Something like that." He enjoyed her young mind and wished he still thought of the world as his own playground. Pausing between two trees, one grown in a jagged manor and the other split into three trunks, he looked around and sniffed the air. He remembered a cave being around here somewhere but it had been so long it was gonna take him a while to remember which direction it was. Looking back at Charu he lowered his tail down and after she had gained distance on him he started walking again, a bit slower this time. He knew the cave was close and they were sure to get there before the harsh weather came up on them. Sniffing the air again he started to check if his old hide out had been occupied by any larger creatures well before coming up on it, especially with a younger Ulaya with him he didn't want to cause troubles with another animal sheltering from the winter.

She smiled as she followed him. Not sure where he was going, but it seemed like a great adventure! Caves could be scary, but he was an adult, so she shouldn't be scared at all. Which she wasn't. She eyed each branch as she went by. Too small for them to actually hit her. She wondered if she'd ever be as big as this male.
