Over time, Tanana had began to grasp the time estimate for things. Meaning, how long she had to do tasks for her masters before they got angry. Kienge and Uzulu were different, but not by much.
Perhaps his son had done something to anger his father and was being punished. Tanana didn't know, or care. Whatever the reason, she had been with Uzulu the entire day, and he had shooed her away. Not to do anything just... told her to leave.
Tanana, as always, listened. But this was the same as work in her mind, and she knew how much the sun should move before she went back. By then, Uzulu would have changed his mind. No doubt about it.
Having never had the grace of 'free time' before, Tanana found herself...completely unsure what to do. Eventually, she'd gone to seek food, and much to her surprise, she'd found it.
A single dead hooved animal. Tanana didn't know what it was called, she just knew it was ediable and it was dead. The juvenile was approaching it when the vulture had swooped down and squawked and flailed until she backed off.
Now, she lay with her tail flicking, staring at the two creatures; one living and one dead. Obviously, by the look on her face, one could guess she was debating on attempting to chase the bird off.

Fatia was, on the contrary, used to having free time. While Uzulu was someome that she certainly needed to listen to, her main master, Uzulu's son, wasn't much like his father. Fatia rarely had to do much of anything, so she kept herself quiet and did her best to look busy, so Uzulu would never go after her. She knew what to do to keep herself safe. But that didn't mean that she still wanted to stray from her main joy in life; that being her sibilings.
So she was surprised to see her sister Tanana roaming around all alone. Was she free somehow? Fatia highly doubted it, and so she galloped her way over to investigate. Her eyes never left her sister, so she didn't notice that there was a carcass of something to eat, along with quite a large vulture. Well, no wait, she did notice. But not until it was too late to do anything but give out a squeak of surprise.

Tanana had never met Uzulu's son opposite Kienge. She assumed he must have been much like that white Firekin she'd met not long ago, since her sister never really seemed to be doing anything. Sure, she looked busy, but Tanana could tell the difference.
Uzulu, she assumed, was too busy being angry to bark out commands like usual. There had been more slaves born, she'd heard, and Uzulu was not happy. Were the numbers great? They must have been, given Uzulu raged about their 'value' being 'worthless', and so on. She laughed at the thought he may set them free.
One could dream.
But if this was freedom, it may be over-rated.
"Hello, Fatia," she greeted her sister. "Are you suppose to be doing something?"

Fatia smiled at her sister. Though she was not as clingy as she had once been when she was still a cub, her heart still depended on her sibilings for comfort. Especially with Tanana. Though Fatia rarely believed the stories she used to tell about being free, they were still nice to listen to. Dreams that were just that; a dream.
"Hi Tanana," she chirped, still ignorant of the bird, for the most part. If she acted like it wasn't there, then maybe it would go away? Sometimes the critters she came across on tasks would if she ignored them. "Master Kai'Melos is asleep, so I don't know what to do. I'm just trying to keep busy so Master Uzulu doesn't notice." She admitted to her faking, but what else was she supposed to to? She reeeally didn't want to see what he could do to her if he knew that she had nothing to do.
"I saw you out here, and wanted to see what you were doing. ," she commented, not really realizing that if Tanana was on a task, even out here on her own, they both might get in trouble for it.

"I'm not working." Tanana paused. It was amazing how something an individual said could sound amazing to their own ears. First time for everything, right? "Master Uzulu is angry. I have a feeling he's shoved all of us away for the time being." Why? A number of things. Tanana guessed it was mostly, knowing his own temper, he didn't want to accidentally lash out too hard and kill his own property.
"I was going to take that rabbit back for all of us, but that bird seems to have stolen it." Not that she favored any of her siblings over the other, but she wished their brother had at least shown up, too. Fatia was not one of the siblings she could chase the bird away with.

"Oh."
That was all that the cub had to say to it all at first. Well, she was counting her blessings then, that she was stuck with Master Kai. Kai was anything but a master, in all honesty, but Fatia was still the best slave that she could be. Better then going back to Uzulu. She shivered before her attention moved over to the vulture hovering over the carcass.
She brightly turned back to Tanana. "Did you ask him to give it back?"

She shouldn't have. Tanana had known her their entire lives, talked to her far more than most of her siblings. Besides, she'd seen a lot to be surprised by much. Yet, somehow, Fatia always left her in awe with her simplicity.
"...Ask? No, I didn't." Why would she? Hadn't the Firekin taught her anything? You didn't ask for things. You took them. If you couldn't take them, you just didn't get them. Period.

Fatia gave a smile to her sister, as if she was going to fix all this with that cute personality of hers. She trotted over towards the large black bird, her smile unwavering. She looked up with her large brown eyes at the little eyes of the bird. Pity that they were so much small, she coudln't tell what the bird might be thinking.
"Hi Mister Vulture. I was just wondering," she took a moment to wiggle a bit. "If you could give back that hare to my sister and me? We're both kind of hungry, and such tiny lions like us need to eat so we can get nice and big." She had an idea to add onto it, but she'd hold off on it and see what the bird said in reply.

Tanana, for once, was content to observe. For now. She expected the bird to merely squawk at her sibling, which would be enough to drive Fatia off.
The vulture clambered around to the other side of the corpse, as most of the meat in the former position had already been devoured. The creature looked down at the young slave. One eye was moving, the other wasn't, making the already eerie beast that much more frightening.
"Mister? Mister, is it?" The bird, speaking in a very female voice, cackled from deep within her throat and pecked at the dead animal. "You lions. Too many of you. You'll get none of this. The Firekin have gone down, yes they have. Can't believe my brother got take down by one of you. Not the same pride, oh no. Weak now, yes, you are." By time the feathered chatterbox finally stopped rambling, it looked like she'd forgotten she was even speaking to anyone to begin with.
Seeing the vulture worked up had prodded Tanana to come over. Just in case. "We aren't Firekin," she corrected. The bird stared at her, eyeing her up and down.
"Not Firekin? No Firekin in the Firekin lands? Oooh, what a world! What a world!"

Fatia ears flew back against her head in embarassment on deciding that the bird was a male, when in fact it was a female. She knew that there was no way of knowing beforehand what gender the bird was, but she knew that the vulture wouldn't care. She still messed up. How mean of it! And she'd still consider an it, just because it was rude to her!
"Hmph," the cub sulked, listening as her sister took charge for a moment. Rude birdy. All she wanted was something to eat, but there it was...going. All in the bird's stomache.
"Yeah, we aren't." Fatia didn't think it would be smart to say that they were slaves, just in case this bird thought that she was better then them. No way. She resisted the urge to stick her tonuge out though; she didn't want to lose it!

"No Firekin, no Firekin," the crazed bird chanted. She went back to eating for a total of five seconds. After that, she seemed to realize something she hadn't before. She hoped over to Tanana and shoved her beak into her side.
Had it been a Firekin, Tanana would have moved, but a bird? No way she was being pushed around by something with feathers. Even if that something was still twice her size. "Hm... Something's familiar about you, yes. Not Firekin?"
"We're in the lands, just not members," Tanana offered curtly. The bird drew back a bit, her only working eye moving between the two cubs.
"Yesss, something familiar. Very familiar. Smell familiar. Do you know that demon?"

Fatia puffed her chest up at the vulture when she saw that it was moving closer. Thank goodness it went to her sister and not her, for Fatia didn't know if she would of been able to hold herself so calmly if that huge thing came at her like that. Tanana sure was brave. Fatia's tail flipped behind her as she watched her sister with a bit of awe.
Attention soon swirled a while 180, though, when the vulture mentioned something of a demon. "A demon?" she mimicked her mind, wondering just what that was. Was it something good? Maybe not, the way that the bird was speaking, it didn't sound like a very good thing.

Tanana had never heard of this 'demon' either. "What is that?" The vulture was more than happy to oblige.
"Ooh, demons! They are the most evil thing of all! A plauge on the Earth! Murderers! There is one around here, I came to find her. Killed my brother, she did. Looks like you. Spotty black and white demon!"
"Black and white?" Tanana echoed. She gazed over at Fatia, curious if she was wondering the same thing.

Fatia's ears flashed forward, though she did her best to not show any other signs of anything to the vulture that she might know what she was talking about. Or moreso, who.
When Fatia glanced over to see if Tanana thought the same, she realized that Tanana was a step ahead of her. Gulp. Well, best to hide that face. Tanana was the one with black on her, but with all that tan she was certain that they were in the clear.
"Yeah, odd colours for a Firekin, don't you think so?" She kept her gaze at Tanana for a moment longer before looking back at the vulture-lady.

"Actually, it seems black and white Firekin are allowed," Tanana informed her sister. True, it may have not been the ideal time to share such information, but Fatia needed to know. Since she'd met that white cub and learned about it, she needed to tell all her siblings.
After all, she'd treated the other cub like a slave at first. With most Firekin, that wouldn't have ended as well as it did with her.
"Yes, black and white, black and white," repeated the vulture. Once again, she hopped away to n** at the course. Tanana, meanwhile, nudged her sister, a silent gesture of 'Let's get the hell out of here, kthx'. The cubs had barely started moving before the birds attention was on them again.
"Wait, wait. You... you two there... You are those children the demon spoke of!"
