In case you haven't heard the members of the WGA have gone on strike...
The word on Grey's is...
New episodes of popular programs like House and Grey's Anatomy will air this month and well into next. Reruns will air over the traditional Christmas and New Year break, and a handful of remaining new episodes will air in mid-January. After that, shows will go into repeats indefinitely.
Scrubs only has 12 of 18 episodes meaning the series finally has not been written, and may not be if the strike continues.
Just a little update for you.

[Goldie] Does anyone know why the WGA is on strike? I know that they are but don't know why.
last time they striked was in 1988. they want a cut of DVD and online sales. back in '88 they took a cut of Video tape sales, but as you can imagine that didn't turn out to be a cash cow. blaugh late night shows (Leno, Daily show, SNL) are all ready off the air. next will come sitcoms because they re-write scripts as they shoot. then comes dramas, most dramas will make it to January before they to go to reruns. I would hate for Scrubs to never get a finale. crying also House is still on. neutral oh and any new show that was picked up for a full season/13 episodes like Gossip girl, should be able to shoot most of it's season. because an "order for more episodes" basically means ordering scripts.

GA supports the strikers The cast of medical drama GREY'S ANATOMY have pledged their support to the Hollywood writer's strike by visiting picket lines. Strikes began earlier this week after talks with studio representatives failed to resolve a dispute over royalties. Picket lines were set up outside studios in Los Angeles and New York, after The Writers Guild of America asked its 12,000 members to stop working. On Wednesday, protestors at L.A's Prospect Studios - where Grey's Anatomy is filmed - were visited by the show's stars Patrick Dempsey, Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight. Knight says, "We're supposed to be going until the end of May and right now our last shooting day will be Tuesday or Wednesday. "As actors, we're paid a different way than the writers, but there's also the crew to keep in mind. They are out of work as of next Wednesday." Oh adds, "This matter is way too important not only for our writers, but ultimately everyone who makes movies, everyone who makes entertainment here in this town and again for the rest of the world." also here's your list of which shows have how many scripts on hand.Off-topic; "24" has been postponed for the whole 07-08 season. thats right no shows at all because they don't have 24 scripts to use. crying

basically in a nut shell... the WGA have not been properly reimbursed for all the exposure the shows get for people who get to watch them online for online-access. Many of ABC's shows are actually posted on their website. Which, was great for nights I was too sick to stay up and watch, so I just caught the episode the next day.
The other issue is the astronomical sales made from selling the entire season on DVD.
WGA has certainly the proper leg to stand on. I for one, will NOT watch any of the shows online because the more connections ABC has from people watching the episodes online, the more money is rightfully owed to WGA. So, I am pretty much crawling the walls on this. The thought of no Grey's or Private Practice is killing.
As it is, LOST is only going to release 8 shows of the 16 they claim they already have done. THAT angers me to no avail.
but, until the networks can pull their head out of their butts and their hands out of their own checkbooks/wallets.. the WGA will continue to strike until they get a fair share of what is justifiably owed to them!
I hope it ends soon, this strike has already cost 500,000,000.00 (HALF A BILLION DOLLARS!)

Really stupid question... Does anyone know why the producers can't just hire writers that *gasp*aren't members of the SWG and therefore aren't on strike?

Dr.Wind.Weaver Really stupid question... Does anyone know why the producers can't just hire writers that *gasp* aren't members of the SWG and therefore aren't on strike? they are unioined too so they wouldn't do that, besides would you want random people writing Grey's? gonk gonk gonk GOOD NEWS!!!!The writers are waiting to vote on the latest offer made by the big wigs and are expected to take it. Writers Guild members to vote on contract Show runners (like Shonda Rhimes) — industry lingo for the executive producers in charge of a TV series — are expected to be back at work Monday (today), preparing for the return of writers as soon as Wednesday, industry members said. earliest most people think we could have new shows on air is April and dramas would only have @ 4 new episodes before the seasons up. but it's all up in the air till they actually get back on the job.
