"Stupid tree..." he grumbled as the form of a stout, bulking feline fidgeted in the leaves. The branches continueous poked and proded the feline and the leaves just got everywhere, falling down to the ground until wind blew them around. The dark leopard of azure streaks growled and hopped out of the tree he had been sleeping in for the past two days. His traveling companion was probably out. Blue eyes glared at the tall acacia tree, it's leaves still falling down, the branches bend and broken. The branches were too think and they felt weak, made him paranoid of falling out of it while he slept. The leaves gave little cover so that almost any predator could see him... that was if he didn't have his dark pelt.

His paws carried him a short distance until he found himself wandering back to the tree again. He could not help it, he was a leopard, his home was suppose to the jungle where there were big, strong trees that could support him and his life style. It felt so... so secluded out here in the savanna, there were hardly any trees at all and the ones that were out here were either occupied by a pride of lions or too feeble to support him. Let alone another leopard that has been traveling with him. He was fortunate that he had something to put to sleep, his memory of Freya, his first traveling companion. It was difficult to finally agree that Freya had left him alone, but the memory still lingers of her smiling face. Perhaps it was just a haunting obssession... he'll get over her sooner or later... his heart hoped later.

Ba'kru never knew that this was going to be so hard! His heart yearned for love, his dreams of old wanted to start a family and become a father that was worthy of being admired. He wanted to love and be loved. He had spent much of his adolescent years seeking and talking to the female leopardesses in the jungle, but all came up for naught. They turned him down left in right, sometimes before he even got to say his name. Either they were taken, he was not their type, or they made ridiculous excuses to get away from him. Was he hideous? Ugly? He knew he was a kind male, flirty at times, but he was a good guy! After almost a full twelve moon cycles, he had given up on chasing after his own species. There seemed to be none that wanted his company... so the chance of family slipped from his grasp, but his heart still yearned for love. There was one other species that was similar to them, okay opposite, and they could only be found out in the savanna. They too had spots. They too were feline. They too were as beautiful and graceful as the leopards.

Cheetahs.

That was the only reason he was out of the jungle, to find a cheetah. But why was it so diffiuclt? He thought he had the grasp on it when he found Freya... unfortunately, that was not so. Now he waits for one that may like him... if he was lucky, love him.

Ba'kru sneezed and looked up at the tree. No leaves gave him little warmth during the cold nights and he doubt his friend would sleep very close to him to share his warmth.

The savanna was so cruel...

A few days had passed since Alula had left her parents. The black cheetah had spent a some time with her family, welcoming the warmth and comfort she got from them. While her siblings had long since left their family den and are off in the corners of the plains unknown to even her. While she missed her closest sibling, her elder brother, she had to resign with the fact that he was not there anymore and she felt her heart ache. She had lost her playmate as the two of them used to be as thick as thieves. But, she couldn't dwell on her lost or else it'd make her sad. She had to look at the bright side of things. She could still see her parents, visit them and enjoy their company. And the feeling was definitely mutual, as she saw the happiness her visits bring to her parents and that made her proud. She owed everything to her parents for without them, she wouldn't even be here in the first place.

A small breeze blew against her face as she closed her eyes, enjoying this small pleasure. She had always enjoyed the some of the simple things in life, such as a passing breeze. But, on the other hand, she felt slightly ruffled by her last visit to see her parents. They hinted and whispered things that she's never taken to heart before. She knew she had grown. She could feel it and her parents had confirmed it when she could fully look her father in the eyes without straining her neck to look up. She had grown taller, leaner, and more agile with the passage of time. Adulthood had come sooner than she expected and thus, so had new responsibilities. While her parents never said it outright, she could pick up by their subtle signs and ques that they were hinting for her to find a mate and start a family of her own. These thoughts had briefly passed through her mind, but it was a while back and when she was younger, she just shrugged them off as mere curiosity and didn't ponder them any longer. But now, things were different. She was an adult, ready to start living a new life.

As she opened her eyes, those dark eyes gazed at the scenery before her. Grassy plains laid before her for as far as her eyes could see with trees scattered in small groups or singularly. This is where she's spent almost all of her life and she's known very little beyond the vastness of the savannah. She padded quietly, with no destination in mind, she took everything in stride. Perhaps, today would be more interesting than the last?

Ba'kru figured that tonight would be the last night before he slept in this tree and that it would be best to make it liveable for one last night before going off to hunt. He had a few wounds from the prodings of sharp branches and twigs, but they were nothing more but thorns in his side (actually, literally). With the simplest ease, he scaled the baobao tree and to where he had stayed the night before. His legs placed exactly where they should so the banches took his weight evenly. He was a short one, being a leopard with short legs, but his muscles were what carried him places. After all, muscle did way more than fat. Pure blue eyes looked at the bent and broken branches to see what he can get rid of and what he should not. the leaves were rather short and left nothing for cover up, but if he could do what he does in the jungle, than this should be a simple task.

The tree rustled as pieces of bark and leaves fell from above, soon littering the ground of the tree's dead limbs. A passing bird gave a glance before fluttering off. One must admit that it was a rather strange sight and sound to behold. The banches that were broken off were placed over two adjacent branches, covered with leaves to seem like a bed.

Ba'kru pulled back to see his work; it was good. Not perfect but it will do. ... but will it hold? With a slight test, he placed a paw on it, pressing down to see if it held. Good, it did. With another, it sustained enough to have him lay on it. Wonderful! This will do.... *crack* or not. The branches were too think, unlike those of the jungle, snapping under his weight and having him fall to the ground.

Quite lost in her thoughts, Alula silently stalked through the plains. The grass flicked against her legs with every passing breeze. It was nice, comforting at the very least. As time dragged on, the black cheetah was shaken from her quiet reverie by a faint scent. It didn't seem familiar, but then again, she could have just forgotten the smell. Though, her curiosity was definitely piqued as she followed after the scent. Her dark eyes searched the plains, looking for any figures that stood out. But unbeknownst to her, she was looking in the wrong area, she should be looking up at the trees rather than on the ground. She could tell that the scent had gotten stronger, but the was no figure coming into view. Perhaps, the source of the scent blended in with the scenery? She pondered quietly.

As she went past a few trees, she paused as her ears flicked back. She thought she had heard something, or maybe she was just imagining it? Her gaze landed on some leaves surrounding a tree not too far off. Well now, that's not completely normal. These trees don't normally shed that many leaves all at one time. It was then that she looked up and was surprised at the sight before her. A leopard in the tree! She couldn't stop that smile to spread across her face.

The dark blue leopard growled to himself, silently cursing the damn vegetation and it's inability to be able to support a leopard like himself. Hell, it could have broken last night and made him fall, leaving him open for a predator to come over and eat him. Sort of sucks that he is quite the heavy sleeper and the soft snoring... that drowned out the soft foot steps of any prowlers out there. He glanced at the tree to see the hole had made in its "canopy", there was no way for him to sleep in that tonight....

Getting up, he shook out his fur of dirt and leaves before turning to find another tree. It was then that his eyes fell on something dark not too far away. With a tilt of his head, he questioned.

"Who's that?"

At first he assumed it was his travelling companion, but it was too tall to be a leopard... too tall... a cheetah perhaps? Was it Freya? He smiled and headed straight toward it, his heart racing in hopes that it was the beautiful spotted female he came to admire. However, when he got closer, it became clear it wasn't Freya but another female cheetah. However, that didn't stop his heart from racing. He smiled a bit turning into a smirk. The female was an adult, like Fray, her body was in a sleek, lithe black color with strange blue and white markings upon her back and face. It was a strange sight, but she was a beauty to behold.

"My, what do we have here? What is a beautiful girl like you do wandering around these parts?"
PostPosted: Mon Nov 05, 2007 11:18 am

Dark eyes took in the leopard, finally getting a clear view of him. He was an odd array of colors, like herself. Alula's tail flicked slightly as she came towards the tree before stopping before it. She gazed up at the leopard, he looked like a fish out of water in the tree. The last leopard she had ran into, that was closer to the edge of the jungle, where the trees were thicker and sturdier, more suited for a leopard than out here. But, who was she to complain? She's getting to meet someone new. Her head tilted slightly, was he going to stay in the tree? It didn't seem to suit him at all. At his words, she couldn't help but smile up at him.

"I am, but wandering around aimlessly hoping to find something to amuse myself with. But, I'm glad to see that I have stumbled upon such a sight." She couldn't help but let a soft giggle escaped her, "I must say, the tree doesn't suit you at all."

"No, I must say that many of the trees out here in the savanna are suitable for me. I am surprised that this one even lasted the night with two of us in it," he looked up at the tree with her before turning his gaze back ont he female.

"Well, I am glad to be a sight to be found from such a beautiful female," he smiled. "My name is Ba'kru, as you can tell, I am a leopard who's still getting used to the trees of the savanna even with my land legs." the leopard had been out in the savanna for a while now, maybe a cycle or two... he had lost track of how many full moons he had seen since he had left the sanctaty of the jungle's keep. His paws were used to land travelling, but to find a home where he can rest was extremely difficult. He could never sleep on the ground in fear that someone might catch him... he was paranoid about that.

His eyes looked over the female a few more times, purring softly.

"If it's not any trouble, could I ask your name?"
PostPosted: Mon Nov 05, 2007 11:51 am

Oh? So the male wasn't alone, but had someone with him or that's what Alula had gathered from his words. Her dark eyes looked at him as she couldn't help but find him rather interesting. He was definitely out of his natural element here in the savannah, whereas this is all she has known and loved. Ears flicked, "This day is starting to look up already, that much I can tell." She tilted her head slightly, "It is a pleasure running into you, Ba'kru. I haven't ran into anyone in quite a while, I was afraid I was the last, living soul out here!" That was, of course, a great exaggeration.

At his request, she couldn't help but give him a sly smile. "Why of course it's not any trouble at all. But, that does take the mystery out of guessing." She winked playfully before adding, "I'm Alula."

He chuckled.

"Alula? Well, now that is one cute name, to match one cute female to say the least," he puffed his chest a little. "Well, it seems like we are the last two living souls out here then if that were true. Funny how we met, huh?" he laughed knowing that there were plenty more souls out there. His traveling companion was one and that bird was another. Perhaps she just turned a blind eye to those around her... or just focused on him. He chuckled again knowing that her day was already looking up. Was he the reason?

"Say, how about we take a walk to the water hole? You thirsty?"
PostPosted: Mon Nov 05, 2007 12:18 pm

Ba'kru's comments made Alula feel with glee. Yay! Someone who wasn't too mature and could be playful back with her. Dark eyes watched him puff out his chest as she stuck out her tongue in a playful manner. "I guess it was fate trying to bring the last living things together so that we won't die of boredom!" As she went along with what she had started. He was comfortable being around, perhaps she could gain a new friend after all! It's been a long time since she last saw any of her friends. She brushed that thought away as she returned her attention back to Ba'kru. She liked his blue, it was such a lovely shade.

The water hole? Oh, that sounds like a plan to her. Her mind started to wander to all the things she could do over there besides drink...her dark eyes looked at Ba'kru, wondering what he looked like all wet. She nodded her head, "I'd like that!" She paused before adding in, "We could get to know each other better along the way."

"Oh perhaps the fates have more in store for us. More fun times. Perhaps even another friend for us to play with or chat with. Though, I am content with just having you and I being the last two living souls on this plane," he laughed lightly and started off toward the water hole. This savanna had a lot of them! In the jungle, the only water that he knew of was the river and the large lake in the middle of the jungle. Beautiful place that was, but the vines and shrubry on the floor may be a little too difficult for any land based animal to get through. He used the trees. He giggled as she stuck out her tongue, he did the same in a playful manner.

"Well, it will be fun to get to know you a little more," he eyes glanced over her. Her body was so clean, it looked like it had been well kept for. He could only imagine what she would look like wet. The water would just slide right off of her! He chuckled at the thought, purring softly.

"I'm a leopard, like I said. My father was a rather dangerous sort of guy, always getting in trouble and danger. Though... that's how I lost my brothers and mother. Because of him really. Got himself in trouble with a pride and they didn't take too lightly to that. So I when I was old enough to live alone, I thought I could just follow my dreams of a family, seeking out a female to start a family," he paused, his ears flicking back. He did not really care about his family for how bad they were to him. Always picking on the youngest one, the one that wasn't white like the rest. In fact, he got his grandfather's dark fur and blue strikes. He got a kick out of that... but talking about how he was denied of love time and time again... sort of discouraged him from talking about it. "Well, lets just say that wasn't very possible. But I still wanted to find someone to be with, so, I'm out here looking for that someone."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 05, 2007 8:36 pm

A smile lit up Alula's face at the idea of more fun, especially with Ba'kru! Her dark eyes twinkled at the prospect as she couldn't help but giggle. "I'd be just as pleased if it were just you and me left on this lonely savannah, because I think we'd have enough fun to last us a lifetime! Plus, I would have wonderful company!" She felt very much at ease with him, and while she just teased and jested him, there was a slight ring of truth at the very center of her words. She had a special bond with her eldest brother, and was unconsciously trying to fill that gap back in after he had abandoned her. After he had left, she felt like part of her was missing. No longer was she part of the troublesome pair, but she was alone and very much afraid. Though, she would never be able to admit that outloud because she's pushed all her fear and loneliness to the back corners of her mind in the hopes that it'll just one day, disappear.

While her mind had drifted off tangent for a second or two, she brought her attention back to Ba'kru as she was surprised. Surprised to learn that he had a rough life filled with hardships and actively seeking to start a family. Whereas, she's had a pleasant life, one she can't really complain about and just mosing around with nothing better to do. "I'm surprised to hear that!" She nodded her head, "I can't imagine why you haven't been able to achieve your dream so readily!" She would definitely say that he was very pleasant to look at and his personality was playful, just like herself. But, then again, she wasn't a leopard and she was viewing this all through her own eyes and perception when leopards could have a view something very different than her own.

As she slid up along side the male, she purred softly. "I'm a cheetah!" She started off with a wink, "My parents met and fell in love at first sight and have been together ever since. I have a sister and two brothers, all whom of which have left our family at a young age and I have not heard from any of them since. I do like to visit my parents from time to time, just to give them the comfort that I have not abandoned them and I still enjoy their company. Though, at times they can be very overbearing, but I guess it is in their nature to want the best for their cubs." Her parents really did love her, she knew that, though at times they could lay it down thick. "As for me, I like to have fun!" She gave him a sly grin.

"Well, to have a dream to have cubs and start a family is hard when there is not a single leopardess who would actually talk to me long enough for me to actually call a friend... well, it's kinda hard," he could remember the heartbreaks he had gone through. Some have turned him down instantly. Others waited for him to say his name to note themselves to ignore him later if he were to meet them again. Some have actually walked with him for a while to escape their mates, to get a little time to socialize. Others have actually used him to make their mates jealous. Either way, leopardesses where nothing but trouble for him. The only sanctuary from their presence was out here in the savanna where there were rarely any of his kind. "But there is always what my heart wants."

He listned to her story, chuckling in places and nodded to show that he was listening to her. It would be rude to just stare at her like an idiot. "Oh! A cheeath are you? Well, I couldn't have told ya that one. With such a cute figure and pleasant aura, it was soooo hard to tell!" he joked as he jumped in front of her, tail up and front tail, traditional play posture as a deep purr emitted from his chest.

"So, you have no brothers around? Well, that's kinda dull, no one to talk to? Just your parents? Heh, on the bright side, I found someone who likes to have some fun!"
PostPosted: Tue Nov 06, 2007 7:41 pm

The black cheetah felt slightly sadden by Ba'kru's information. It was hard for Alula to fathom why none of the leopardesses didn't want anything to do with him. He had a great personality, from what she could tell already! Well, it was really their lost and her gain. She could have a new friend to play with and spend time with. If those females didn't want to spend time with this male, she would take up that offer and do just that. She couldn't help but giggle at the male. "I find it rather charming to hear a male talk about wanting cubs a family. Most of the ones I've run into were very full of themselves and having a family seems like something a female would want...not something a male would want. But, I guess it's a pleasant thing to hear you say that."

As Ba'kru jumped infront of her, giving her the play bow, she couldn't help but return the posture as with her tongue sticking out. Oh yes, this was more like it. She couldn't help that soft purr start as she flicked her tail. "Oh really? So I could of fooled you then?" She giggled softly, "Yea, it's been rather boring since they've left me. I've been on my own for a while now...I just might not let you leave me too!" She teased him playfully, waiting to see what he's next move will be.

He laughed. "Well, the males I have met where nothing more than interested in females for the mating alone, sad, no?" he hopped left and right to keep her guessing. He had remembered one who slept with many females just for the fun, but he was rather smart about it. He only did it when they were nowhere near their estruses.... or it is estrusai... when they were in heat. It was a scary thought, but he was not like that. He, for one, never experienced such a thing and had only planned to do so when he met the right female. The one he plans to be with for a long time, hopefully for life. But having no leopard to bear his cubs, it was but another thing to be left out of. And this female was teh only one that he was gonna get close to it seemed. "Well, I will be honest, I really do want a family. I still do, I guess a dream is just something to think about when one sleeps." he smiled.

It was then that he stopped. 'I just might not let you leave me too!' she said... it him rather hard. His life was a bit lonely being left alone by family, by females, by Freya, and only recenly finding his travel companion and now this female. He was a little shocked for her to say that, be it true of false... it was a bit... well, shocking. He stood up and looked at her. "Do you... do you promise that?"
