Alas had decided to spend today within the packlands, she was becoming far too used to slipping off to Crunch's lands. She always returned and swam in the ocean both for exercise and to wash away the scents of her other friends. The strong salt water washed away everything and left her at peace. This morning she had taken a swim before laying in the early morning sun to dry off and then heading up to the packs den. The rocky climb was easy for her now and she often took her time finding the harder and easier paths along the cliff face.

With her usual paranoid look and smell around the den site she slowly moved to settle herself near the entrance. Alas might have taken a nap, but she just couldn't shake the feeling that the wicked lynx was around ever ready to do harm. Instead of a nap then she simply lay still as a statue her ears and eyes open and her mind wandering to how she could help her Alpha.

Wazaam hadnt lived in teh packlands forever, but he had lived there for a long time now. He couldnt help it. He had taken Twist as the motherly figure in his life. Kattana was still his mother, and he loved her, but Twist wasm ore nurturing than Kattana, and Twist didnt lie.

The pup was almost reaching teen-dom, and he felt older, as much as wiser. He knew who to trust, and who not to trust, and Twist had been considering letting him have Beta rank within the pack. He didnt realize it was so he could be her lackie. Someone who did her bidding, only to come back to a pat on the head.
Which is what was going to await him.

Cocking his head, the pup with the orange pelt ran with massive paws through the undergrowth that sprouted from the shrubbery. It didnt hide him at all, if anything, it more or less pointed him out like a neon sign.
Little did he care, he continued to run.

Alas streached her legs and tilted her head her ears flicking with sudeen paranoia as the shrubbery moved. She rose slowly and moved to see what it was. Her eyes caught orange hues and she tilted her head curiously wondering what in the world it could be.

She moved closer and crouched. "Hello?" She sniffed and slowly relaxed, it smelled like a puppy...a puppy from her very pack!
Alas smiled brightly her tail waving through the air, there was no need to be paranoid of a pup, they were the innocents.

Wazaam was speeding past his last bush whenever the pink femme called to him. As she did, he somewhat tripped over his still puppy proportioned feet. Falling into a mix of dirt and sand, teh orange wolf looked at the other.
His eyes were somewhat narrowed. Who was this, and why were they in Twist's territory?

He said nothing, before he took to giving one strong sniff in her direction.
Pack member? No way. He hadnt seen her before, where had she been?

"Hello?"

He answered, his ears twitching as he looked at the pin She-Wolf. His emerald eyes sparkled as he was relieved it hadnt been an intruder. He'd defend Miss Twists' pack. He'd defend it with his life, but it didnt mean that he wanted to go looking for that trouble.. In fact, he'd do anything to avoid it.

Alas smiled and approached the pup to make sure he was alright from his tumble. He seemed older, approaching adolecence. She gently nosed the top of his head and crouched down to be at eye level with him.

"That was quite a little tumble there...are you alright? I didn't mean to startle you." She felt much more relaxed inside, yet still ready to defend. Although she wasn't afraid of an innocent pup, she was afraid for the puppy if Algoma or one of the packmembers swayed to her side showed up. She wished she knew who was on who's side.

"I'm Alas, pack healer" Her tail gave a little waver in the air.

Wazaam relaxed as she mentioned she belonged to the pack. Now that she had said something, he could smell of the salt of the ocean on her fur.

Wagging his own tail, but only very slightly, Wazaam nodded.

"Im fine. It was just a little tumble, s'all."

Looking back at the pink hued wolf, he cocked his head.

"Ive never met the packs Healer before.."

For all he knew, he was on the entire packs side. Apparently though, Twist had some other options open for him.. he didnt know of these plans though. All he knew?
He was Twists friend.. And he was the helper of the pack.

Alas smiled and streached out with a nod her ears perked still to ensure nothing else was around, this time not for her own sake but for the pup as well. She wondered if this pup was lost or if he had a family that had joined as well.

"You seem strong enough to handle even larger tumbles I'm sure." She smiled and gently nosed him.
"Your newer to the pack? Twist didn't tell you I was healer?" She tilted her head wondering why Twist wouldn't tell every new member to find her if they needed to. Perhaps the alpha had been preocupied with the issue of the lynx. Alas felt a bit guilty herself, she had been so occupied learning to take care of herself she hadnt gone out to gather the plants and roots that could help take care of others.

"Did you join alone or do you have more family that came?" She hoped the pup had family with him, that way he would be better protected. Unfourtunatly it also meant more adults to be swayed to one side or another, she had better try and meet any new wolves.

"My family came with me. Mother, Father, Adolpho, and the Two."
He said, referencing his sisters as nothing more than the Two. He honestly had been driven crazy by them over the time he had been here.
Their fathers inconsistency with them, had caused Wazaam to be gravely upset, and even a bit snide towards his sisters and even Rome himself.

"Other than Kattana and Adolpho though, Im pretty sure I dont have much of a family. Twist, and the others are all I need to survive, and that's all I will attempt to do."

He said. Oh, but if this pup wasnt already starting to be twisted in the mind. Twist was doing a superb job and massively fast job of making Wazaam's mind into putty that could be molded for later use.

Staring at the pink wolf, Wazaam wondered how one with such an extreme pelt color, such as he or Twist, could hide from him. Or not really hide, but how the hell did he miss them?
He wasnt sure, but seeing as he had never seen Alas before, it was safe to assume he wasnt blind, merely messed up.

Emerald eyes glittered as he continued to examine the pink She-Wolf. His ears perked, his head cocked, the pup looked almost as if he could have been an adult.
And it gave a glimpse to the strong adult he would be.

The two? she wasn't sure she liked the sound of that, as if they were two wicked ones. He had come with his family though and that was important, it meant he had adults who could care for him if things ever turned nasty. Alas wanted to meet these parents and inrtoduce herself to offer her help if they ever needed it, but for now she was happy to have the company of their son.

"Thats good that you have your family with you." She frowned at his next words.
"Of course you have a family, Twist may be your alpha, but your parents and siblings will always be your blood ties. Of course as a pack we can all be family to each other...I suppose thats what matters." Alas smiled brightly at the pup.

"Survive what?" She tilted her head wondering what had this pup already thinking about such things, she felt a bit sad that he had such things to worry about at such a young age, but then again he wasn't all that young. Alas remembered back when she was just a small pink puff, how she had survived alone and lost for so long, slowly she had learned by making herself sick how to heal herself. She had rolled in the mud whenever she could to hide her bright pink coat until she was old enough to learn to cover herself in other ways, cover her scent and tracks. She had learned, but it ahd been a long and lonely education. In the end Alas chalked her skills up to luck, she had been lucky that in learning to heal she hadnt poisoned herself, or mended a bone wrong, or let an infection spread.

An eyebrow narrowed slightly. Not to be mean, but just in suspicion. Who was to tell him he was wrong about his family? The Two were most definately not family, and Rome was hardly the equivalent of a father.

Shrugging, he threw his head back, to cast a quick glimpse of the sky, but as if remembering that the fellow pack member was there, his attention turned back to her.

He wasnt sure what to think of this one. He had never met her, she seemed nice.. But she only saw Twist as the Alpha.. And the pack as a whole, family. That was most definately not true. Twist was like his mother. The pack? His home.
Family and home were different. Because you could have one without the other.

"I dont believe that."

He said, flicking his tail.
He wasnt realizing he was becoming a bit more snide than he had been as a young pup.

Alas tilted her head at the pup and frowned. She wondered if perhaps he had been targeted by the lynx and his mind had been-NO she couldn't be paranoid that a puppy was a pawn! She had to believe that something, somehow was untainted. If she stopped beliving that pups were innocent she would never find peace in the pack. As it was she had trouble sleeping in the pack den and associating with her packmates, she had taken to slipping off.

"Well, believe it or not...but you should never let anyone replace the love you have for your mother, father, and siblings. Family is important, even Twist missed hers even if she can't show it." Alas gave a firm nod, she wished Twist could have the family support she needed to guide the pack. Alas was trying as much as she could to find Twist when she was alone and give her what support she could, but she wasn't the alpha's mother nothing could fill the void.

"Love? Ha. A family that recieves love is the same family that gives love. To recieve, you give."

He growled and narrowed his eyes at the thought of his family. Adolpho was the only one he cared about much. Well, Kattana was still his mother.. but even she didnt give him teh support he needed. She was always sad, but she didnt realize that if she'd just been there for him, Wazaam would never have run to Twist.

Twist was teaching him, and she was even starting to see him as someone whom she could trust. She told him her secrets, and she saw him aging as well.
He was getting thinner, his bones were growing longer, and his body looked like that of a teenaged wolf. But he was still merely a pup.

Casting his tail downward, as to not let anyone think it was wagging, he looked back at the pink femme.

"I do not have a use for love anyway."

Alas was shocked by the pups words, what was happening in this pack?! Had things always been this way for the pup or was it only upon coming to these lands that he had been changed by whatever wickedness was spreading? Alas felt chilled to the bone to see one so young transform into such a cold creature before her.

"No use? Do you not love your mother, and father, and alpha? Don't you want to be a part of the pack? Protect it?" She tried to use whatever reasoning she could to touch this pup's heart, but Alas feared she was too late to reach the cold inside him.
PostPosted: Wed Nov 07, 2007 10:29 am

Instantly his ears spiked up, and his eyes widened. How dare she?! Of COURSE he wanted to protect the pack. He LOVED the pack.. He would give his very orange pelt to save the life of the pack, and the insult that had been lain before him, made him sort of step in place.

"Of course." He said, speaking in a tone not unlike Rome himself, for though Wazaam hated his father.. He had indeed become alot like him in certain ways.

"I love this pack. But no, I do not love my father, though I fail to see how that concerns you. I love this pack. I love Twist, and I love my brother. What more do you need from me?"

No, he had been brainwashed after coming to this pack. The same, meek, upset little pup, had become a bit of an over achiever. Twist's very own lap dog.

Alas frowned at the pups tone and words, how could this have happened. What wickedness was spreading through the pack and why wasn't Twist fixing it. The pup said he loved Twist, why hadn't the alpha seen how twisted this little one was becoming.

Then slowly a traitorous thought crossed the lacy pink females mind, what if Twist had done this? What if Twist wasn't really afraid of Algoma? What if Twist and Algoma were the reasons for all that had been going terribly wrong? The wolf being held hostage in the cave...Twist hadn't seen to that. This pup turning on it's own family to follow Twist. The way the scent of the lynx often mingled with her alpha's. Had she been so blind? Impossible! It was impossible, she shouldn't think such things. Yet still this pup seemed so abnormally brainwashed, and not to the side of the lynx.

"Have you met Algoma? She's a white and...flowery colored lynx. She comes around a bit..." Alas tried to remain calm despite the horrible thoughts running through her head. She wanted to turn and run away, far away to Crunch's lands where she could be calm and safe. Yet she worried with this pup around, she would need to stick closer to the pack. She had made a promise to Twist, but if the alpha was the cause of the turmoil...she suddenly felt at a loss what to do.

"Its good that your devoted to the pack...but your parents love you I'm sure, you should try and return their love for you." Her voice shook a bit with emotion, she wished she could have fixed things for this pup, but perhaps it was too late. Perhaps it was too late for them all, and they were all simply pawns on the great chessboard of life.
