The day had barely begun, but Elnara and her seven children were all already wide awake (except for Idhril who was still rubbing her eyes) and preparing as if for a journey. In a manner of speaking, they were, but it was only (only?) through the portal and to Elnara's home world, Arda.
More specifically, they were going to visit Elnara's family at the castle there.
Elnara was still feeling very nervous about the whole idea, but it had been months since their visit to Ulani and Ulrich, and Celebor had been good about his promise not to beg. He really deserved to go ... and the other children were no less insistent (except for Silvrendir, who didn't really know a whole lot about the whole situation yet, being as he was so young).
"Everyone has everything?" she murmured, looking over them all to make sure. Finally certain, she nodded. Now they just needed to wait for Lore ...

From down the hallway a little (very little) girl came running with a somewhat large bag dragging across the floor and a stick strapped to her back.
"Wait!" Lin called out as she rushed towards the group, she was so not missing this, and she had begged so much the night before from her parents.
She scurried up to Elnara and looked up at the elven woman with her nautrally (or unnaturally) large eyes.
"Can I come?"

Lore had arrived at the inn, all packed and perhaps more than a bit nervous. Just like before he brought what he needed, which wasn't much really. As he went up the stairs without prompt he wondered what this trip was going to be like and how different it was going to be.

Elnara turned at the voice and knelt in front of Lin. Her expression was thoughtful as she brushed her long hair behind her pointed ears, and she sighed.
"I don't know," she murmured. "I don't know what it's going to be like there, Lin ... I don't know if it would be a good idea ..."
Idhril watched as Celebor wandered over to the closed portal door and started poking at it, then looked back at Lin and Elnara.
"Please, Mama?" she asked in her soft voice, made softer by her sleepiness. She rubbed sleep from her golden eyes and stared up at her mother as if begging her. "Then I can play with her, too!"
Elnara still looked doubtful. She was already going to have her hands full keeping tabs on her own seven, how was she supposed to take care of Lin on top of that? She was as adventurous as Celebor and as wild as Storm!
"Did you ask your parents?" she asked her, hearing footsteps on the stairs.

"Yes......" Lin replied back like she had been expecting to be asked, "If I didn't Earendil's grandmother might send me back! Daddy says it's okay as long as I don't break anything, or anyone," she explained back at her.
She rocked on her heels trying to remember what else he said, he said some other things to.
"Oh, and I have to practice my brushstrokes, and I'm not allowed to swiddle Elrohir into anything," she frowned, "But I didn't swiddle him, what does that mean anyways?"

Lore could hear voices drifting down the steps, which meant that everyone else was ready. He hurried his steps a bit, hoping he hadn't kept everyone waiting long. As he rounded the corner he was surprised to see a little child, whom he was a sure he hadn't met before.

"Swindle, you mean?" Elnara questioned. She saw Lore approaching and smiled brightly at him, hoping that her nervousness wasn't showing, then looked back at Lin.
"It means you cheated him out of something," she explained. "Unless you're referring to the incident of you manipulating him? Taking advantage of his exhaustion?"
Still, if Donovan and Kara had given their permission, was it really her place to say no? After all, she was her sister - not her aunt. Technically she had no authority to say no.
The children meanwhile were also greeting Lore with various shouts of "Lore!" "Papa!" and "Daddy!", and the girls were all trying to hug him. Idhril, actually, was trying to get Lore to pick her up, nearly crawling up his leg.

"Uhm... maybe?" Lin tried to look innocent on that one while she smiled widely.
Could she help it if presented the chance to be on top of the mountain?
"He wasn't angry," Lin replied back in her defense.

Lore smiled from ear to ear as the children rushed towards him. This was such a wonderful feeling that he would not get tired of as he tried to hug each of the girls. Though he ended up scooping Idhril up before she could fall back down.
"Hello everyone," he replied back, "Hope I haven't kept you all waiting."

"Nope!" Celebor grinned from where he was still standing at the portal's door. "We just were ready just now!"
Elnara sighed, then smiled and straightened up. There wasn't going to be any way for her to get out of this, though really she would have rather kept Lin here, for sanity's sake.
"We're ready now," she nodded at Lore, smiling wanly, tired already though the day had just begun. It was probably just her nerves, though, and she knew it.
"That is," she added, looking down at Lin pointedly, "if you're ready."

"I'm ready!" Lin called out in a sing a song voice as she held up her bag, "I brought my brush things, and my dollie, and my clothes, and stuff for the trip."
She smiled so angelically, it would have been as if Kara was there instead of Lin.

"That's good," Lore smiled as he looked down at Lin and blinked with a bit of confusion, was this another of Elnara's, "And.. who is this?"
He had to ask, because he was sure if he had met her before he would have remembered her.

"Ah, sorry," Elnara blushed, moving to stand with Lore. She would have given him a hug in greeting, but the children were too close around him and she couldn't get close enough.
"Lore, this is Lin, Kara's youngest. Lin, Lore."
She knew Lin knew who Lore was.
Wait, hadn't Lore been there the night Lin and Celebor had played tag and Celebor had cracked his head open? That night at the cafe?
"Come on!" Celebor called impatiently. "Let's go!"

"Keep your pants on," Lin told him, even though one had to wonder if she even understood the meaning of keep one's pants on.
She put her bag around her shoulder even though it would still be dragging and looked up at Elnara as patiencely as she could

Lore had to chuckle at that, so this was the Lin that got Celebor into a game of tag. He thought it was slighlty amusing that she was telling Celebor to be patience.
"Well, we can go then," he murmured, "I'm ready."
