Alright, folks--here's the run-down:
The setting is bustling New York, New York--It's an age where the cops are still afraid of gangs, because of their sheer number and citywide strength; but despite their hard-knock lives, the children of the city (the members of these gangs) still have their own concerns: adolescence, problems with their own lives--some with addictions; others who were orphaned, and their only family proves to be their gang.
These children come from various ages and backgrounds; various social situations--one can imagine the politics of Gang Warfare and its effects on the society around them. The subject may be a little freeform, but I'd like ALL KINDS to join.
If you have an individual character, I'd prefer you play as many background characters as you can. I will have a slew of my own background characters, so I'd prefer if people could make their character's situations as real and imaginative as possible.
I have one gang in particular, primarily composed of my own characters, called the "White Knights". I'll ask people to volunteer original names, and then I'll start a new board where we'll introduce the characters.
I'd prefer the sides to be almost even--but my gang is not a terribly active one, in the sense that you might think of a gang. Its leader is... slightly more quirky than you might imagine... and it is primarily only considered a 'gang' because of sheer numbers of participants, and the nature of their gathering. The "White Knights" were formed, because their leader wanted a place for people to belong--but they do participate in the actual network of fights and territorial claims.
The White Knights have many members--but I would suggest you try not to join--they're mostly my characters, and I would prefer to get some other players on the field before I let others join.
Remember: this board is only for the decision-making process! What gangs exist, and who belongs to what gang.

My rules:
1. Type TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY. I will not even RESPOND to someone who typz lyke d1s. Or lik ths. I will NOT accept chatspeak (as it makes my brain hemmhorage on the inside), and I will accept OCCASIONAL misspellings, but not FREQUENT ones.
2. Expect this to be very freeform. After all, these are different people from different backgrounds--and whomever decides to be a Gang Leader will have to make the ultimate decisions based on how THEY would rule. If they are democratic, then you vote. If they are dictatorial, THEY will make the final decisions. Dig?
3. I WILL have a burn-list for people who don't post after a week. I understand completely--no one can be on all the time--but PLEASE make an effort.
4. My word is law. After all, I went to the trouble of creating this board, and I will also be the one to start it. That's TORTURE for someone like me (I usually end up playing a support character, but never a main part).
5. I AM nice. You just have to be nice to me, first. Generally, I'm VERY lenient if you have a good excuse--but if you have a repeated offense list, then I'm going to be less and less nice to you.
6. NO GODMODING. That is an ESSENTIAL part of this type of roleplay--that you LET the other person decide how their character will take the hit. After all, wouldn't you be pretty pissed if someone just randomly killed your character without your consent? You can say you went for a lethal blow, but WAIT FOR THEM TO RESPOND.
7. Swearing is perfectly okay with me--I've never had the cleanest speech, but try to use it tastefully. If it's every other word, I'll have to ask you to tone it down.
8. Romance--I'm ALL for romance of all kinds! If you want to hook up some characters, I don't have a problem--but anything beyond PG-13 has to go to the PMs. In fact, I ENCOURAGE relationships--because it makes the inner workings more interesting.
9. Anything else I think of will be mentioned.

The Team Players:
Gaiaonline name: Azzy the Great
Character name: Hannibal X. Thames
Character alias(es): Shiro, "Boss"
Height: 5'1"
Figure: Lean--beneath his shirt, he's actually very muscular, but that's due to years of health-food fanaticism, parkour, and yoga.
Alignment: He usually tends to be very goodly.
Gang: He is the leader of the White Knights.
Short Description: A small-set young boy with dark red hair that brushes his face, shoulders, and mid-back; cut in a shag style. He is usually clad in mostly black, with accessories reminiscent of the Goth style; chains, studs, and spikes throughout his various attire. He has a dreamy gaze (with two differently-colored eyes), and a sympathetic expression, with a goatee masking his girlish chin--to make certain that people don't mistake him for a young woman... as it has happened, before.
Short History: Born in mid-Germany, he spent many of his childhood years in very ill health, because of his father's strict methods of punishment (often beatings) that sometimes got out of hand.
Raised mostly by his brother because his father had involvement in the local mob, he learned a great deal of street-smarts at a young age, and was perfectly suited to the move to New York City that happened when he turned nine years old.
He got into a relationship with a young girl, but because of gang activity, ended up acidentally shooting her in the back of the head, and so has sworn off women.
Later, he became the subject of repeated rape, as his good looks blossomed and became less of a blessing and more of a curse. To this day, he lives unable to help the fact that many are after him--but most often, not his heart.
(He's the one on the right. The other will be explained later, when I can get back on--but for now, I have to go.
If you have a picture of your character, it would be DIRELY appreciated--as I have pictures of almost all of mine. If not, I do commissions, too--so I could draw them, given a good description.
I will work on a list of what to include when I get a response. Until then, I wait.

REALLY sorry about the absence, folks. I hate my limited computer access....
Regardless--I'd like to note that, at this point, I'm NOT used to how Gaia roleplayers operate--so I might be a little different, but I'm working on it.
