The carnival, nighttime. After the whole, "OMG WE SAVED CROW" Scene.
Writ felt great. And dizzy!
He had gotten off the tilt-o-whirl for the tenth time. Something he wasn't able to do way back when the carnival was in town the last time. He was big, bad, and Six foot one! No adult could deny him of vomit inducing rides.
Yep, everything was wonderful again, the carnival's in town and Crow was gonna be fine. He even noticed the ghosts leaving. They were still there, of course, but they were as sparse as a Rich in Downers. He stumbled along happily through the crowd.

Vlad was walking around with his tail between his legs. Literally. Vlad was trying not to draw attention to his new looks but was being very unsuccesful. Vlad was still thinking about that girl, Maria, that he had met and what she told him about what was going on. It was all a bit much, but it did explain all the strange things going on and the strange people going around nowadays. Vlad was totally wrapped up in thought and paid no attention to any of his senses, which, had he been, he would have seen and smelled Writ before he walked right into him and knocked himself on his butt.

"Heya!" Writ cried out, "Sorry bout' that!"
He looked down on the kid and offered a hand. The claws on his feet caught his eye, well well well, is this someone new? Another pawfooted one, it seemed. Pointy ears too. Writ lifted the kid back up to his paws, and smiled,
"Nice feet." He whispered into the new godling's ear, and waved for Vlad to follow him.

Vlad looked up at the guy he bumped into, shocked that he hadn't been paying attention, but was more shocked when he looked up at the kid. Here before him was someone else like Maria...but looked alot like him. He, too had claws and ears and a decidedly canine look to him.
When Vlad saw that the boy was beckoning him, he quickly collected himself and followed behind him. Soon Vlad was at his side, taking large steps to keep up with him. "I am Vladimir. Call me Vlad, pleez. Who, might I azk, are you?"

"Writ!" He said crisply, dancing through the crowd.
The boy's accent intrigued Writ, he's heard a lot of strange foreign people, being in the restraunt biz and all that; But he never heard someone quite like Vlad. He sounded French, but the voice seemed a lot rougher than some prissy French person. Writ went around one of the circus tents and waited for Vlad to catch up.
"You part of the game too?"

Vlad took a sniff and confirmed that Writ was abnormal in every sense. Behind the tent, Vlad walked up to Writ and said "I beleev I am. Zat Maria girl tried to explain it to me. I vas a volf for all of last night and alot of today. I juzt met Anubis yesterday."

"Really?" Writ rubbed his chin, "You've been busy."
The volf part got him particularly interested. Another shapechanger? People like Crow and himself were becoming cliches. It's like the gods weren't even trying anymore. Vlad looked just like him. Save for a few differences, like the tail. Writ felt his own back. He made sure Coyote didn't give him any other traits while he was sleeping. Knowing that trickster, he would.
"A wolf, huh? Cool!" He said, as if this was completely normal for a boy to be doing. Which it was. In Writ's eyes anyway.
Man, I should show you to Crow. He thought to himself.
Writ smiled, "I could do something like that too." He felt like showing off, "Wanna see?"

"Zere are more like me? You can do it too?" Vlad asked with some degree of interest. "Yes, I vood love to see." Exclaimed the enthused boy. Vlad was almost bouncing around. Writ's enthusiastic energy was infectious. Soon Vlad felt like this was one of his friends he had hung out with for years.
Remembering something, Vlad said "Oh, my volf is not normal, it is very large. Also, it is not qvite under my full control, yet. It is very painful, or was ze first time. Is it painful for you?"
Vlad looked up expectantly, then remembered something else (it was a good day for Vlad's brain) and said, before his other questions had even been answered, "I don't even about you or vot you do. Tell me about youzelf, Writ."
Vlad was as happy and excited as a little puppy when it gets a playmate.

"Alrighty!" The godling looked around to see if the coast was clear, and he began to change. Bones cracked and muscles stretched. Nails gave way to claws. The last of his clothes turned to fur, and what stood in front of Vlad was a full grown coyote.
It wasn't really all that painful now that Writ had the hang of it. The sensations of the shift were all numbed out by adaptation and godly influence, letting him flow from one form to another.
After a little demonstration of padding around and barking, he changed back.
"I don't really remember bout' my first time, I think I fainted." He shrugged, the tan fur on his chest turning back into white cotton, "You'll get used to it. It gets easier the more you shift, trust me."
Writ paused in thought when asked about him, "Don't have much to say." He started bragging, "Though, I've been round' the block a few times, fighting monsters, saving girls, laughing at death, it's been great." He ended with a sly grin.
The teenager omitted all the moments of angst and anger he had in the process. There's no use turning the kid off on The Game before he even got to play.
"What about you?" Writ was about to ask about the kid's god, but those kind of questions could wait, he was curious.

Vlad didn't know about that. He was pretty uninteresting. "Me? Vell, I've got nuzing interezting to say, really. I'm originally from uppers. My dad does zum government work, so he iz alvays avay, and never talks to me or takes off zat black suit of his. My mozer iz alvays avay, too. She iz some sort of business voman. I vaz sent to live viz my aunt and uncle, but I rarely actually stay viz zem. Mostly, I roam ze streets, and get followed by dogs....vich makes sense now."
Vlad told Writ his story just like he'd said he'd done some grocery shopping or something. The whole thing was really very boring to Vlad.
"So, how do you change shape? I could use zome help vith that."

"I don't know about you Vlad, having a tail and paws sure makes ya seem interesting." Writ added in, "Who's your god anyway?"
So, another Uppers kid... Could've fooled him. The boy looked pretty scruffy compared to someone like Seth. Different upbringings, he guessed.
"Well, you just do it." Writ couldn't explain changing any better than that, "Like, when I want to change, it just happens, you know?" He waved a hand again to Vlad, beginning to walk again, "It's like moving your arm, you're not really thinking about it, but you're doing it."

"Vell, ze tail iz new. It only came in ven I veturned to human form....Ven zat stupid cat attacked me." Vlad scowled at the memory of Reki.
Vlad shook his head and continued to talk. "My god is sumpsing named Fenrir. Have you heard of him? Ven I talked to him, he sounded...big." Vlad's face became serious as he thought of that voice in his mind. That raw power....Anubis at least seemed tame, in control....Fenrir....Vlad wasn't so sure about.

"Fenrir..." Writ repeated, "Doesn't sound familiar, sorry."
Does to me. Coyote grunted, he sounded bored. Loki's pet. Sent me a message the other day.
Loki's pet? Writ made a mental note to talk to Kayla about that.
Yeah? What did it say?
The God sniffed. Some kind of challenge, but coming from him, it's nothing to worry about. Besides, I don't think this Vlad kid would want to fight you.
What's wrong with you?
Just bored, it's unfair, you're having fun while I'm just rotting away in the realm.
How about I do something for you? Writ was feeling generous.
Hmm?
Writ shrugged, and gave Vlad a nudge, "Well, don't worry about it."
Vlad was worried about something, Writ could hear it in his voice. Poor kid, probably had one of those Chthulu kind of gods. Hopefully he won't have to save Vlad from his god's realm too.
"Hey, you wanna race?" He piped up, trying to cheer both the kid and his own God up, "You know, dog on dog?"

Vlad looked up at Writ and smiled a big, stupid, toothy grin. "Writ, I like ze vay you think. But ver shall we race to? Vat is ze goal to be?" Vlad looked around for something to race to, but didn't know this area very well.
While Vlad let Writ decide, Vlad said "Who iz your god, Writ? What iz yor god like? Nice, mean, give me some details."
While Writ was talking, Vlad closed his eyes, still listening, and focused on turning. 'Teeth...fur...paws...speed...strength...' When Vlad opened his eyes, he was back in his wolf form, which didn't hurt him this time. Vlad gave out an excited bark and howled up at Writ's face.

"Coyote, nice, just kind of twisted when it comes to who he sleeps with." Writ chose his words carefully, he didn't want to corrupt the kid unintentionally by mentioning things that his god would probably tell him anyway.
Well, at least when the whole growing business was finished. The phenomenon of godlings growing up had happened so many times that it was almost expected now.
"How bout' to the end of the carnival?" He pointed to the empty end of the Harbor, "Seems far enough. Three barks, and we go, okay?"
When Vlad had gone into his wolf form, Writ laughed, "Excellent!" before he shifted as well.
One bark, Ready...
Two barks, Set....
Three barks, Go!
