Hi. I'm 15, and I first year Christian. Now, before I turned to God, I used to love Halloween for being able to dressup and getting candy. Halloween 2007 is just arund the corner, and I've tried to avoid thinking about ever since, but now, I'm like freaking out. Christians, I need your help, pronto. What should I do? I know that God dissaproved of Halloween for the evil stuff that happens. You know, vampire stuff/witch stuff, gohsts. Check Joshua in the Bible for instance. Doesn't God tells us to literally kill witches and sorceresses? Not that I want to be one for Halloween, it's jyst, you know. Would God dissaprove of me just having fun dressing up, getting compliments, and candy? I mean, that's basically all I want to do.

While I do understand what you are thinking, it's something we should be careful about. It is true that radical conservatives will satanize Halloween... and yes, it has obscure roots. Radical liberals, on the other hand, will have no problem celebrating it. The Biblie, however, calls us to a higher standard. "How so?" someone might ask:
-"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will" (Romans 12:2). -"Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause him to fall" (1 Corinthians 8:13). -"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31).
Here we see that, if this is something that might cause a Christian to stumble, we should not do it, since it would not glorify God. At the same time, we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, not conforming anymore to the pattern of this world.
I would not give a commandment such as "Thou shalt not celebrate Halloween" or anything, but my personal decision is not to celebrate it, as it will certainly constitute a stumbling block for a lot of Christians in my area. Even though there is no express commandment as to whether or not we should celebrate Halloween, just as the Bible is our guide in matters of faith and practice, it has principles such as the above mentioned that should help us take a decision on this aspect.
Christiananswers.net has an interesting article about this. I guess you should check it out. 3nodding
