The Pig-Headed Boy (About the Kid!) Name: Koa Vargas Age: 10ish Personality: Arrogant, selfish, excitable Likes: Action movies, competitive sports (that he wins), the sound of his own voice Looks: Dark tanned skin from his Polynesian heritage and a lot of time spent outside, black wiry hair with definite wave/curls to it, with dark brown eyes. His body is generally lean, thanks to lots of activity, and a bit long for him yet, giving him a bit of a gangly look, but with the promise of filling out when he grows into it. More often than not, his elbows and knees will bear scrapes and band aids from all his rowdy activities. Background: Family – large, multi-kid. Parents – Grocers. Older brother and sister, brother in law enforcement (Subject to GM approval: Possibly recently selected for the Blacksuit training program), sister works in interior design for upper level clients. Three younger siblings. Koa helps out around the shop mostly, lots of moving boxes and transporting goods. Has a bicycle for running deliveries. Generally hangs out in the streets, in parks, stores, wherever, usually accompanied with several boys around his age. He likes taking the role of ‘gang leader’ and bossing the others around, and he has the noisy charisma and show-offishness to command their respect. Often getting into fights he starts, no one can claim he doesn’t have guts. He’s generally a delinquent, acting out to get attention and demanding the ‘respect’ he’s due.

The Pig-Headed... and everything else... God (About the Diety) Name: Kamapua’a Origin: Hawai'i Lives: The fertile islands and sides of the volcanoes - - - The Legend of Kamapua'a: Kamapua’a was born to a goddess and an influential chieftan, but his father thought his mother had been unfaithful and denied the boy as his son, naming him Kamapua’a, or hog-child. The boy grew up to be extremely handsome, smart, and strong, with a fiery temperament, and god-like skills, being able to change appearance and create duplicate illusions of himself. However, he was hated by his father, whose scorn and mockery hurt Kamapua’a, making him grow angry and bitter. He left his home to strike out on his own, gathering up other young men to form a raiding band that would plunder his father’s lands. Kamapua’a became fierce and menacing, tattooing himself, and eventually murdered his father. When he returned home, his mother did not recognize the frightening man as her son, and he went away in grief, giving himself to raiding, seducing, and taking the form of a hog to frighten others. It was then that the boat carrying Pele, destined to marry one of the chieftans of the island. Enchanted by her beauty, he asked her to love him and be his wife, but she was disgusted by his appearance and turned him away with insults. Angry, Kamapua’a tried to take her by force, and the two struggled, rain and water against fire. After the struggle, Pele submitted. Kamapua’a’s anger vanished as he embraced her, and while they lay as lovers, he became again beautiful, intelligent, and strong. But the change frightened Pele, who pushed him away afterwards. “Not again,” she whispered. “Leave me alone. I came here to be queen, but you are more powerful than I. Stay away. Take the lush green valleys of Hilo, Hamakua, and Kohala. Keep them wet and fertile. I’ll stay here in Ka’u and Kona and balance your rain with the fire of the sun.” And so she cast him away. Kamapua’a would rule from Kohala, protecting the pigs and roaming the waterfalls. - - - Kamapua’a has dominion over the rains and waterfalls of Hawaii, cooling Pele’s lava and turning her barren stone to fertile earth for agriculture. The two still have a love/hate relationship. Like Yin and Yang, they are each others’ opposites, and complete each other. Kamapua’a appears as a handsome, fierce man, or in the form of an eight-eyed Hawaiian boar.

Wee! The concept sounds like a lot of fun!
What I would suggest is having a list of potential 'powers' that Koa would have, and how they would pertain to his god, as well has his appearance. Will he be tattooed? Will he control the rains? Will he look 'piggy'? Maybe as he becomes more conceited/angry, he becomes more porcine, until he is able to learn humility?
It would also be amazing if you could find someone willing to do a Pele godling. It seems like there would be quite a dynamic there. wink

Koa’s appearance after being touched: Koa’s ears become pointed and flexible to a degree, and his nose takes on a much more pig-like shape, the front turning up and growing out in the hint of a snout. A pair of his lower teeth enlarge and grow sharper as well. As he progresses his nose will become more snout-like and his teeth will develop into tusks that protrude from his mouth. He might also grow a curly tail or possibly get hard, blunt hoof-like nails on his hands and feet, good for digging. The most disturbing addition of Kamapua’a’s beastial form will be the additional eyes… He might not gain all eight that the Hawaiian god’s pig form was supposed to sport, but Koa will definitely end up with at least one extra pair upon his brow, perhaps even six at his later stages. He’ll grow lean and well-muscled, taking after Kamapua’a’s hunter physique, and black tribal tattoos will show up over parts of his body, like his torso, arms, maybe even face and legs. His dress will also take a more traditional Hawaiian trend, using brightly colored wraps and grasses and sea shells. An interesting possibility once Koa’s appearance has progressed farther would be to incorporate some of his god’s tendency to outwardly reflect his inner nature. He looks piggish and beastial BECAUSE he acts like a bully and brute and bears a selfish, mean-spirited heart. However, on the occasion that he does something self-less, with no consideration for himself, and is truly kind, his visage is transformed and Koa appears as the handsome, intelligent and strong human man he might have been but for his twisted nature. Essentially, the avatar of Kamapua’a’s godly brilliance and hunting prowess. This state would last until Koa’s bullying nature reasserted itself, and he’d return to his boarish self.

Possible Powers: The Blue Waters – As the prophet of Hawaii’s god of the rains and waterfalls, Koa’s most basic ability would be to harness the water of the islands. At first, it requires him to have some kind of surface to summon it from, preferably with a crack in it, and the summoned water can manifest as a stream of water with about as much force as a drinking fountain, or a pleasant shower, and can only flow for a limited amount of time. However, as he grows in power, the force of the water summoned and how much he can control it increases, until he can summon a jet of water with the power of a waterfall behind it, or cause a torrential downpour from above. Fertile Soil – A secondary power, more for flavor than anything, reflecting Kamapua’a’s power to turn Pele’s hard stone to fertile soil. It’s a ritual that requires Koa to churn the material with his hands and then press his nose against it. Perhaps at later stages, plants would begin growing immediately at a heightened speed, so it can be used as a means to cover tracks or hide something buried there. Rage of the Boar – At Koa’s later stages, he gains the ability to fly into a blind rage. During this state, he notices damage to himself less, ignoring pain that may have stopped him previously as he rampages and perform great feats of strength, but his perception is limited in this state. It’s impossible to tell friend from foe, and the target of his rage is usually whatever’s in front of him. Afterwards, the pain returns and all the injuries incurred during this state take their toll, either knocking the boy unconscious or leaving him hardly able to move or defend himself, let alone attack. Only lasts for a short while. Shroud of Rain – Later on, after he’s gained more control over his god’s powers, Koa can tap in to the mists of Hawaii and cloak himself and the area around him in a foggy rain cloud. Things are wet, misty, and barely visible beyond a few feet. STAMPEDE! – A very powerful ability gained at his final stage, Koa transforms the water he has summoned into a herd of watery wild pigs who then charge in the direction of his choosing, running over and trampling whatever gets in their way. Goring and kicking are also options. Essentially, they do a lot of damage, traveling in a straight line usually unless they’re in a confined course, like a series of alleys. Only last for a short specified time or until they get too far from Koa.
