Durithill's Realm is a paradise. All the elements and the inhabitants of the realm exist in harmony. In the middle of the realm, far removed from anything, the statue that is Durithill rests in a field of flowers of all colors and types. On the edge of this field is a cottage. The inhabitants of the realm are refugees, people who only wish a lasting peace.

Note: None who bear ill will towards the realm or any of its inhabitants may enter.

Her hands moved quickly about the counter, prepairing a hearty meal for her son and herself. She grew quiet as of late and was often found outside after dark simply sitting alone in the feild of flowers. She felt alone aside from the presence of her son, Raithill, in which she cherished dearly, but never did a day pass by where she forgot about Durithill. Sure, the majority of the society did, but not her... Not once. Raithill knew little of his father, for Raine refused to speak of his passing. The one thing she wished not to do was to show any sort of anger or sorrow in the presence of her own son, when she did, it was very rare.

"Raithill!" The woman tense woman blurted over the sound of the cooking food. If her son was inside, he would be able to hear her and set the table for dinner. A table setting for two wasn't too difficult.

It was hard, really, to go on for such a long period of time without his presence constantly around her. Without Durithill around Raine found herself constantly falling-- there was no one there to catch her after all. Of course, her son would be of some assistance, be she really didn't want to depend on him for such a silly matter. But here, in this traquil meadow is where she found herself at ease the most. Though he was no physically there, his presence lingered everywhere, which is what made her relax.

"Dinner is just about ready."

"Coming, mommy!" yelled an excited voice from somewhere upstairs. Raithill, it seemed, had taken to hidding in the attic as of late. Sometimes he was just playing, sometimes searching for relics of the past, but most of the time just secretly practicing his powers. There was the patter of feet running down the stairs, then a breif silence followed by a loud thud. "I'm alright!" called Raithill from the bottom of the stairs where he'd fallen on his knee. He usually wasn't that clumsly. He ran into the kitchen and practically ran into the table in his haste to put something on it. "Look what I found in the attic, mommy!" he said happily, a large dusty tome laying in the middle of the square peice of furniture. "It looked really old, but it hasn't got a tittle..." he said, staring at the spine of the book as if he thought a title might pop out of nowhere. He then seemed to remember what he'd been called for and ran to the drawer to collect utensils to set the table with.

Hearing a heavy thud, Raine angled her head just enough to see her son on his knees. Parting her lips to speak, to make sure he was okay, the boy stood up immediatly announcing he was alright. With an amused smile which caused her lips to shift from a thin line, Shiero shook her head a bit as she moved a heavy pot, filled to the brim with various chopped vegetables in a thick sauce-like broth.

Hearing another thump along with Raithill's childish voice calling to her from the practical table in the center of the room, Raine set the silver pot down onto a cooled burner and dropping the pot holders onto the counter. Spinning around to the sound of running footsteps, Raine crossed her arms over her chest and walked towards the table. Another smile pulled at her lips as her son's new-found treasure came into her line of sight.

"Dear.. What's this?" She asked the Raithill who was now setting the table before scolding him for placing such a dusty article on the kitchen table. However, the large text seemed to catch her interest which had ultimately made the woman forget about the boy's mistake. Lowering her hand onto the cover, her thumb stroked the area of the book where the title should have been. Glancing to look at the spine, a slim eyebrow raised as she pulled the book off of the table.

"That's strange..." She mumbled lowly with straight face. Lifting the cover slightly to take a quick look at the first yellowed page to check for a title, Raine closed the book and a serene grin moved across her face.

"We'll take a look at this after dinner, alright sweetie?" She promised her son, shifting the book from the table onto an empty part of the counter away from the food.

"I made dessert as well, we'll read it then."

"Alright mommy!" Raithill said excitedly. He finished up setting the table quickly and rushed to set the food on the table. "What'd you make for dessert?" he asked, sitting down in his chair when he was done. He seemed to have almost forgotten the book in light of this new joy.

"You'll see." She said with a grin as Raithill hurried to sit down in the normal, childish fashion. Standing over her son as he sat in the wooden chair, Raine reached for some of the food and served some into his plate. It was only small portions to start, but if he wanted more, of course he could fill his stomach. Raithill really brightened her spirits, it was hard to say what she would be like without him...

Moving towards her seat, Shiero filled her plate as well before sitting down in her own chair. One leg crossed over the other, femininly. Picking up her fork, she laughed a bit before stabbing a piece of food.

"Save room for dessert."

"Of course." Raithill said, eating hurridly. He was eager to see what was in the book. And what was for desert, of course. He slowly, slightly, though when he caught his mom's gaze. He guessed he'd probably hear something about how he'd make himself sick if he ate that fast, even though he hadn't yet. He began eating slower, then sat back in his chair when he'd finished. He was still hungry, but he didn't serve himself more because, well, dessert was coming.

Turning a blind eye to her son's impatience, Raine smiled a bit before finishing the plate of her own. Pulling the loth napkin from her lap to wipe her mouth, she tossed it onto her plate along with the fork and knife before gathering her son's plate. She knew very well he was waiting for dessert.

Placing the dishes next to the sink to be done later, Shiero pulled two smaller dishes from the drying rack along with a knife and two forks. Placing them on the table, she pulled a warm pie out of the oven. Cutting the pie, a particularily large piece for Raithill.

Carrying both pieces with a fork on each plate, Raine turned towards Raithill with a smile before asking him where he wanted to eat and read so to say.

"Where would you like to sit, sweetie?"

Raithilll was sightly surprised his mother didn't scold him for his eating habits. He just kinda shrugged it off though. "Anywhere's fine." he said. Then his face lit up for a moment. "Oh, I just remembered something!" he said, squirming in his seat slightly. "I was out in the field earlier, I fell asleep, and I had the strangest dream. I dreamed the statue came to life and started talking to me." he said, smiling slightly.

His mother's face fell to a serious expression for a moment, however, she shifted back into a motherly smile as she lowered the plate for Raithill infront of him to take. Turning to the counter to take the the book her son found one place or another under her arm, the palm of her hand was set on his head for a minute, gently stroking his ebony strands.

"What did he say?" She asked with inclined intrest, her voice still calm and caring. Moving her hand to Raithill's shoulder, she guided him to the door. Perhaps eating outside would be nice today...

Raithill noticed the change in his mother's expression and wondered about it. He decided he'd tell her anyway. "Well, first he kinda smiled. Then he said 'It's nice to finally meet you, Raithill.' I was surprised, so I said 'How do you know my name?' and he replied 'Hasn't your mother told you anything about me?' Then he chuckled and smiled again." Raithill said, thinking back over his dream. He paused momentarily to watch his mother's expression, then continued. "So then we talked for a little bit about everything. You know, like the flowers and stuff. Then he asked a strange question. He said 'Does your mother still keep that old flower?' Well I assumed he meant that old dead flower you keep in the attic, so I said 'Ya, but she stopped looking at it about 5,000 years ago. It always made her sad...'" he paused again, watching the ground. His expression then brightened again as if he were trying to pretend he hadn't known she was said. "So then he smiled and chuckled again and said 'Tell her she should know better.' Then I thought how strange it was that he knew about the flower, so I asked him but he just smiled and turned around. Then as he was walking away he said 'Oh, and tell her I miss when she used to come and talk to me.'" Raithill finished. He then fell silent, waiting for his mother's reaction. "Pretty weird, huh?"

As the two exited the small cottage, Shiero's expression shifted uneasily. Looking down at the boy as the two sat on a small bench just outside, Raine placed the plate down beside her, her eyes seemed to be locked on the statue in the center of the field of flowers just ahead. Her eyes welled up slightly as she looked to the ground unwillingly. Her arms quickly wrapped around her son, her chin resting against the top of his head before she reponded in a shaky voice.

"Yes, very weird." She said quietly, her voice holding a bit of amusment. SHe sniffled a bit to hold back any tears from falling, and to try and keep her son from noticing her sudden mood change. Kissing the top of Raithill's head, Raine released him and allowed a sigh to escape her lips.

"You know what you should tell him next time?" She asked him, smiling down at her son with sad eyes but with a smile spread across her face.

"Tell him your mommy misses him and that he should come and visit." Of course, her wishes were hopeful, but at least it was something to amuse her son with.

"What do you say?" She began slowly, moving the pie onto her lap and picking up the fork set on the plate.

"Do you think mommy should pull out that old flower?"

Raithill shifted uncomfortably. He could see the sadness his mother was trying to hide. "Why don't you tell him?" he asked in that innocent way that only a child could muster. He looked over at the statue and wondered again who it was. It seemed like inquiring further would make his mom sad, though, so instead he nodded. "Ya, I think you should." he said. "The statue-man said so."

"You want me to tell him?" She replied to her son, almost confused. How was she to tell Durithill? Walk up to the statue and do so? She felt like a complete bafoon doing so.. FOr she had for many years before Raithill was around, and even when he was, it was at night after he went to bed.

"Let's go get it then. We can put it where ever you want to." Standing up from the bench, Raine turned to face Raithill. Suddenly she felt confident and not as... Sad. Perhaps the wilted flower that she burdened as a sorrowful reminder was shifted to be a pleasant one. She believed it was about time to explain to Raithill who the "statue man" really was, and what role he played-- almost like a story book..

"Don't forget about the pie!" Raithill said, pointing at the desert. "And the book! You promised we'd read it." he said, sitting down on the bench. He looked up at his mom and saw her expression change again. Only this time she didn't look sad, so he brightened up as well. Maybe they should get the flower first? But it was just a dead flower, it'd be there in the attic when they finished. Unlike the pie. "C'mon! Before it gets cold!" he said eagerly, shifted his position on the bench so he was more comfortable.
