The first bass i got was a silvertone. Something to start me out with. I've been playing for 4 years now and have been trying many basses, but for some reason.....no other bass compares to my silvertone. I haven't been able to get the same sound outta any other bass. So my question is.......is silvertone really a beginners bass?

Yeah they are, the thing is, it's what you learned on, you got so used to how it felt, sounded, and played that anything else you try, you're always going to compare it to what you know, you analyze it so much, most of the time it's going to seem inferior, just because it's different. I have an Ibanez GSR100 that I wouldn't trade anyone, in my opinion it's a great playing, great sounding bass, but not everyone thinks so, and it is most definitely a starter bass.

They are beginner basses, yeah. I noticed a lot of other basses either play or sound way better then my silvertone, but I checked out the standard materials used, over all not bad. The wood is prity nice, and they use decent pickups. But there are better basses, they are prity good for starting out though. Samic makes some prity nice stuff though.

I'd rather have all these than a Ric. And Ernie Ball isn't essentially Fender, Fender cut all ties with Music Man in 1979, and then Music Man was bought out by Ernie Ball in 1984 after they went bankrupt. And either way, I don't see any similarities between Fender and EBMM instruments, at all.
