A place where nekos are kept as slaves with bad conditions like not eating alot and having horrible conditions to work in. This was supposed to be a place of refuge for nekos who aren't wanted, but it turned out to be a living hell untill someone comes and adopts them.
One neko, named Joey, tries running away alot, but is always brought back and tortured. Everyday, he tries and tries, but fails untill one day, he runs into somebody while running away from the owners of the place he once called home. The person he bumped into decides to adopt Joey, now there's this werid feeling inside Joey that won't go away. What is it?

Sure! Alrighty, I'll start!
The night covered the city and Joey sighed softly. His ears were perked up and he was ready...ready for his escape. He waited till all the lights were on on the street. He looked around the room he was in and winced at the many scars, bruises and whip marks on his back. Cuts were visable on his neck and his arms. He shook his head lightly and opened the window, dashing out it, the alarm instantly going off. Joey ran and looked behind him, smirking. He turned his head and gasped, running into someone. "Gah!" he yelped as he bumped into the person. "A-Ah...S-Sorry."

James stumbled just lightly but his arms managed to find their way about the frame a younger boy, steadying himself and the boy from the run in at the shoulders. His pale blond hair fell into his features and aqua hues would fall down to raven haired... neko boy? He smiled lightly to the boy, "Oh no, excuse me." He replied but a slight frown would overturn his lips. "Say, what's wrong huh?" He asked the boy with a quirked brow. He didn't seem to be just playing around these areas.
His ears were laid back and his dark eyes reflected a desperation he'd not seen in a long time.

The raven haired neko looked up. "I...I'm running...running from that god forsaken slave facility!" he replied, looking up at him.
"There you are, Neko!" yelled a guard from the facility. Joey gasped and looked at them.

He frowned disapprovingly as the boy spoke of a slave facility and happened to catch sight of a few wounds across his neck as he jumped hearing the sound of a gaurds voice. He tightened his grip on the boy a bit and peircing blue eyes would raise to meet the sight of the gaurd chasing after.
"Does there happen to be a problem, sir?" He asked a bit irritated as if the man had come in on a rather private conversation. A hand raising to stroke the top of the boy's head very lightly.

"That neko your holding...we need him back. He's been running away for a while noe and hasn't seemed to realize that he's never going to run from the orphanage," he said. "Now, can you please hand him over?"
Joey gripped James' shirt lightly, blushing ever so softly at the stoke on his head. He looked up at him, then glared at the guard.

"Well sir, I'm sorry to say but I've taken a shine to the boy. I think I'll be keeping him, where are his papers?" He asked quirking a brow. How'd he like them apples eh? Damned gaurds and their abusive... he was impressed though, the boy was a repeat run away. Strong fellow, and brave. Perhapse not the most of capable people, but that could be ironed out.

Joey and the guard blinked. Joey looked up at him and the guard nodded. "Um...p-please, then...come this way..." he said, softly. Joey looked up at him.
"You...you really want someone like me? I'm like the worst one you could choose..." he said, softly, though he had a smile on his face as he took him to the orphanage.

He smiled down to the boy. "Well now, It'd be no fun if everything in life was perfect." He said with a chuckle and followed the bewildered gaurd back to the orphanage to sign the paperwork for the custody and gaurdianship of the Neko boy.

Joey smiled. "I guess that would be right." The guard took him to the orphanage and up to the second level where there were rooms. He took the two to a room at the end of the hallways and told him to stay here while he got the papers. Awhile later, he came back with them and and pen.
"Here," he said, setting them on the table in front of them. "These are the papers for that little troublesome neko..." the guard growled.

James smiled in mock sweetness to the gaurd and promptly took the paper and pen, reading over the documents before signing them and returning the pen. "Since I'll be the legal gaurdian, you wont mind my keeping the legal documentation of ownership would you?" He asked with a quirked brow.
The gaurd seemed to be rather irritated by the idea of the orphanage losing the neko boy, and he wouldn't let them try to destroy the papers so that they could retreive the boy again...

"Sure...I guess..." he said, softly. "Neko!"
"What?" he growled, lightly.
"Don't you go causing any trouble around the orphanage..." he growled. "Now hurry up...I have to go check on the other children..." he muttered as he walked away.
Joey looked up at James and smiled. "Alright then, let's get out of here...This place gives me the creeps..."

James laughed and ruffled his hair a bit. "Alright then. What would you like to do first? We can go get you clothing, or go out to eat, or just go straight home if you'd like." He offered taking the boy by the hand and escorting him out of the orphanage. His aqua hues scanned him over again and again. The boy was cute, very charming in appearance... perhapse that was why this whole thing felt so surreal.
He was almost uncertain as to if any of what had just occured had done just that. He'd gone from being a bachlore to an adoptive father in the matter of twenty or thirty minutes....

He smiled at the ruffle and then looked up, smiling. "Let's go eat something! I haven't had anything decent in a long long time," he said as he took his hand and walked out with him. "I'm Joey, by the way." He looked back at the orphanage and winced, pain returning to his back, arms, and neck.
"And I thank you..." he said as he looked forward. "For taking me out of that place."
