Okay, so I'm in the tuba section. There is no one cooler than us.
We just had our last marching show of the year.
And before the show we decorated our room.
Actually, we tured it into a druggie's paradise. xD. jk. haha.

We put blue cellophane in the lights, put rope lights around the sousaphone racks and though the ceiling tiles, and we may add a strobe light and door beads, as well as a giant poster of Bruce Lee and a fog machine (? xD.) We also had a kick a** stereo and were listening to Pink Floyd and Sandstorm.

And since nothing school appropriate is ever going on in the tuba room (xD) our Number One Rule is: ALWAYS KEEP THE DOOR SHUT. So everytime anyone would leave the door open (and later, anytime anyone would open the door) we would just shout DOOR! until they closed it.

So yeah. Have you ever done anything completely fun/random/crazy with your section?

Another good example at our school would be the percussionists. In their room they have the Wall of Chuck (Norris), A poster of puppies with each of their names under a puppy, and Confederate flags hanging all over the place (confederate freaks. xD.). They also have their list of rules. Which, technically I'm braking one just by mentioning this. xD.

It's usually the percussion that's crazy. They make so many weird games and and destroy so many equipments and break so many bones it's either laugh or die after a while. -.-''

But I'm in the trombone section. We all look out for each other, but we're not that close. We would help eachother gang up on random students and lock them in the band trailer, in the band garage, or in the music library. Once, we shoved someone up a broken ceiling tile and he had to be careful not to break the ceiling. The biggest thing that happened was last year when they were throwing a sax player's shoe to eachother playing keep away and when they tossed it to a flute player, and when he threw it back, it broke a trombonist's nose. Pretty ironic because it's the same trombonist who's shoe fell out during competition and marched without it earlier that year. =.=''

=O My section in HS was boring. 'Nuff said...

... once college rolled around, that all changed. Now I'm in a band with a "section pride day". I'll start with my freshman year.

1st Year:
The entire section didn't show up for practice. Now; we had a section of 35 trumpets at the time, so you can imagine how much of an impact it had. We almost decided on having the entire section show up to practice totally hammered (one of our section leaders had a couple of cases of hard cola and Sam Adams), but a few of the more "pure" trumpet players in our section were too afraid to do it, so we settled on not showing up. x3

2nd Year:
Again with the showing-up-to-practice-hammered idea, but more of the chickening out. Instead, we all pitched in to buy some toy AK-47s and some of those pantyhose-esque gangster head cover-ups, and we became the "Jihad" trumpet section that day.

3rd Year:
Quite possibly the most interesting. Everyone was ordered to show up in wife-beaters, athletic sweat-absorbing cuffs and headbands, and aviator sunglasses (ala drumline), only all the guys in the section were required to wear specifically white wifebeaters. As practice drew to an end, each of us were told to randomly pick a girl out of the band and have them pour water on us, and then we were to dance around them all sexy-like. Believe it or not, like all the other guys, I participated in this (and it helped that I was slightly intoxicated, it made for a less embarrassing time for me). Pictures were taken and everything.

I'm willing to believe that no other trumpet section has anything on this, because most of you are too young to buy drinks (I know I'm still not old enough to buy liquor, but I got some anyway, especially because there are a lot of 21+ people in my section).

Since we're still in HS, and we've got the disgustingly smallest section of the freakin' band now when we march.

With two seniors to lead us, we got all 18 members of the Clarinet section to dance to the drum cadance while we were marching the homecoming parade.

Ironically, by the end of the route only we and the drumline were still marching in step.

I usually concider myself a saxaphonist though...they adopted me into their section this year and they do everything in their power to cause our band director a heart attack.

I play clarinet.

In our first year of playing, none of us really knew how to play that well. So obviously there was squeaking, dull notes, and breathy sounds. Well we were playing some song called "Anasazi" and when we reached the A, EVERYONE in the clarinet section let out a really long "SQUEAKKK". It sounded like it was on purpose but it definitely wasn't xB.

Well, I'm not sure if it's exactly crazy but me and the rest of the French Horn players play this game called "The Slide Game". During practice we'll sometimes take the slides out from our horns and play. We have to figure out which fingerings we have to use.

It helps when things start to get boring.

Ok I'm in the Trombone section of our beloved low brass(best section ever!!)((and I'm the only chick))

so my brothers freshman year((I was still in MS)) one of the trombone players lost his pants in the middle of a show(needless to say they switched to bibs or overalls, whatever you want to call them)

My freshamn year there were three of us in contest band and well it was the competition before OMEA finals. and we decided hey why don't we have a bit of fun so we went out and bought some silly string, gauze, bandaids, shaving cream, streamers, balloons, milk, tampons and red food coloring((reminder I am the only chick so they made me buy the tampons cause they were p***y's)) the senior also bought us some....*coughalcoholcough* dunno how he got it though....so anyway I made puddles of red with the food coloring all over random spots even some in the chairs of bandies that I hated and I stuck a tampon in some of the puudles. The senior used the shaving cream and made it a mixture of black((dunno how)) but it matched PERFECTLY with the black chairs and he put some of it on random chairs((even his own to make it not seem suspicious)) anyway like half of the band kidds in my school smoke so we hid cigs all over the room for them as a special treat and left them notes with clues to where we hid them. well we filled the balloons with milk and tied them in a hammock above the BD's door.((needless to say that was interesting hearing him say all those words)) we silly stringed some of the cases of woodwinds, opened up the brass cases and got the actual instruments. I can't remember what we did with the gause and bandaids. something with the field commander stand I believe.....
well nothing bad resulted from this and the band director still doesn't know who did it.

My sophomore year alls we really did was make it seem like we were having sex on the brass bus

this year nothing exciting has gone down yet

So apparently people had no idea what we were actually doing in the tuba room the night we decorated it. xD. All they heard was screaming everytime someone opened the door.
I've heard some crazy rumors. Like we were holding a seance in there. That was the best one. xD.

But all we really did was sit in a circle, shove playing cards in our berets, and pretend like we were high, just waiting for like BD to come in and be like, WTF????

Well, we also brought this guy who really was stoned in. It was sooooo funny. He was just like, "the colors, man, the colorss......"

Also, sadly enough, since then, all of our decorations have gone. We had to take the cellophane out because apparently it's a fire hazard (>_<...) and our rope lights mysteriously vanished over the long weekend.

We're still planning on adding a poker table and a couch however. <3

awww no more rope lights..... that sux....we don't have our own rooms of any sort but we like to hide out in the uniform storage closet. like five of us low brass members cleared our the bottom half of our closet and we do random things in there and w/ me being the only girl I'm always hearing things about how I blow the other guys or have sex with them...((I don't but I don't deny it...why bother?? they won't listen to me anyway))

Our BD doesn't know what goes on in there either cause he's too afraid to come and see

You all sound like you have so much fun.

We just play Follow the Tuba, make fun of the saxophones and clarinets that copy us, the guys flirt with the girls and make fun of one of the other guys for swimming in his own sweat after a little bit of fundamental practice. I do jump kicks.

During band camp we waited to see who could hold their sousie upside down longest and three of the guys benched theirs about... 136 (?) times. I guess we should do something a bit crazier than that, but concert band started today and we probably won't see each other after this last game as often. >.<

i'm a clarinet, and i did the craziest thing. our band director had itunes out, and i asked,
what's that song in the bottom left corner?
wel it was a playlist,
and it said
SWING TUNES FOR FAT CHICKS
being first calrinet, i get to sit by the oboe, and we started guffawing for about 20 minutes

Last year drumline was pretty funny and crazy. Also one time during practice all the flutes were wearing jackets so we put our hoods up and called ourselves fluties from the hood. =]

lol. no one will do anything fun in my section of trombones which only has *coughfourcough* people in which I am the only girl. And If I tried to do anything I would be automatically blamed for it. because i'm the only one that is a 'rebel' in band. lol

The flute section is definatly the craziest. This year, in our first performance for the parents, the flutes went out to warm up wearing sofe shorts and black hoodies. ( It was all of 100 degrees outside ) When we got in out opening set all you could see was the flute players taking off their hoodies and throwing them to the sideline, we were all weraing black dresses under the hoodies. We marched in the dresses. It was funny, because all of the parents were all "What are they doing?????" that wasn't the funniest thing we've done, but I can't talke about all of the things....

awww...you guys are lucky you have a cool flute section...ours is so lame. My friend was making flute section shirts that say "you know how I know you're a flute player? Because you sure charm my snake!" and she only got eight out of 20-something flute players to get a shirt. They were like, INNUENDO! NO!. xD There is soooo much innuendo in band though, it's crazy.

It's pretty much between us tubas and the percussionists for the craziest section, though the trumpets with their Scarecrow Evan are pretty high up there. And during band, we weren't playing loud enough, so O was like, "If you guys don't play louder, we're going to take away your room!" and basically we were like *gasp* xD. Then he was like, "Yeah, we'll give it to the flutes!" and we were like, "What the heck are they going to use the room for? They hate each other!" xD lol.
