Golden hooves sank into the tawny colored sand that covered the beach. As it was fall, the sea air was much colder then normal. Lifting one foreleg to shake off a little bit of the sand, Verloren gazed out into the distant sea with quiet golden eyes. He sighed lightly to himself. With his daughter now preoccupied with her own stallion, there wasn't much else he could do for fun. Teasing Amara was what he usually did but even his playful self had some respect for the feelings of others. He'd bother Amara later. For now, he'd just enjoy the salty sea air.

Zuriel swam aimlessly about, first allowing himself to get caught in the current and then swimming back up to his starting point. It was fairly quiet where he was, though he had chosen the spot as to not bother anyone. The water had lowered in temperature slightly and the sunlight refracting off the water was tempting. With nothing better to do with his time he swam up to see if it was any warmer. He surfaced and tossed his head, causing his mane to shake water droplets and then to swirl about him in the water.

Slightly darker colored ears flickered about as the green stallion snorted at a strange splashing that echoed from the ocean's 'normal' wave pattern. Whatever that was... His golden eyes scanned the vast blue of the ocean with firmness. His body was ridged, a rare sight for anyone to see. A spark of the battle persona Verloren had adopted during his years away from home came back. He hated being surprised... but this was the ocean and with the events that took place with the prince, perhaps... The green stallion allowed his golden hooves to carry his body across the sand, approaching the water ever so carefully.

As he soaked in the sunlight that filtered down Zuriel began scanning the surface. He rarely came up to the surface, much less this close to land. As he examined his surroundings he caught sight of some movement. It was green, whatever it was. He began thinking of green things. Surely there was no moving kelp on the land? He swam towards the beach, curiousity almost eating him alive. He was peering so intently that he failed to notice that the water was beginning to become shallow at a rapid rate.

Golden eyes watched the ocean carefully as something seemed to change. The water was receding and the tide was becoming lower... The green stallion took care not to step on any sea shells that had become exposed in the ebbing of the tide but it was not such an easy task to move the large body of a stallion about. For once, Verloren was somewhat grateful for the skills he learned during that time. With strange elegance, the stallion 'danced' over the sand, closer to the water quickly going away. He raised his head long enough to see... something in the distance. "Hello?!" Verloren shouted rather calmly, his long tail swayed ever so slightly in the breeze.

Zuriel's ears perked forward on their own as the strains of a yell met his ears. It didn't sound menacing so Zuriel swam closer. He finally made out the form of a soquili, the hypothesised green kelp so to speak. "Hello there?!" He towards the soq. How interesting to be able to meet one of them. Suddenly his stomach scrapped against the sand and he realised that he was in extremely shallow water, and the tide began pulling out.

Golden eyes watched as a mer soquili swam forth from the ocean. Their coloring was rather unique, much like the green stallion's own coloring but this one had even more brilliant colors on his coat. Verloren slowly approached the other but eyes stared at the other a bit awkwardly for the mer soquili did not look to be in a good position at the moment. "Uhhhh... are you sure you should be this close to shore when the tide is going out?"

He flopped miserably in the already almost too shallow water. "I...I don't think so..." Zuriel muttered, half to himself. He pushed with his tail against the sand and water beneath him, trying to wriggle back into a decent level of water. "Why is this happening to me..." he muttered again as he somehow managed to push himself forward an inch or two.

Verloren blinked at the mer soquili a few times as he (the stallion assumed that the mer was a male due to his looks but mentioned nothing about it) flopped a little in the shallow water. He knew that mer soquili could get back into water eventually but... it was a bit strange for one to come out during low tide of all times. "Ummmmm... need help getting back in the water?" the green stallion asked as he approached the mer.

Zuriel looked up to meet the other Soq's eyes for the first time. "Well..." he looked away again. How embarressing to have to ask a stranger to help him get back into the water. This stallion (by his voice) probably thought he was crazy, or stupid. He thrashed again, and accomplished nothing. "A little help might be nice, thank you for offering."

Verloren walked up to the mer stallion and bent down low enough so that the other could reach his shoulders. "Put your hooves over my shoulders and I'll try and pull you out into deeper water." It was rare for the stallion to bend down. He didn't like being in a disadvantageous position. That habit would probably never go away now... Fighting back the nagging feeling that kept screaming at him, Verloren tried to start up some kind of conversation. "Ummmm... I'm Verloren by the way."

Zuriel stared at the Verloren doubtfully "My name is Zuriel..." What was this soq thinking? He highly doubted that whatever it was would work but he went ahead and put his front hooves on Verloren's shoulders. "So...do you normally come here Verloren?"

The green stallion carefully adjusted his footing as the expected shift in weight place pressure on Verloren's forelegs. Moving about carefully, the stallion heaved his body up enough to get away from the sandy earth so that he could actually use his legs to walk forward. He was aware that the mer was in an awkward position but Zuriel would have to deal with it. With a snort, one white foreleg moved forward, pacing each step the stallion would take. Again, Verloren was grateful for the training he'd endured. It made him a lot stronger then he looked. With mer soquili somewhat dangling from his shoulders, Verloren pushed forward to deep waters. "I usually- come- here- when my daughter- gets- annoyed- with- me," the green stallion panted as he carefully walked.

Zuriel felt himself being slowly dragged back into the water and marvelled at the stallion's strength. He never would've guessed to do that. At the same time he felt rather guilty for causing Verloren so many problems just moments after meeting him. In an attempt to be civil he tried to carry on the conversation. "So a daughter...do children normally get annoyed with their parents?"

Verloren was breathing heavily and didn't have much breath or energy to respond to the mer stallion. He hated seeing himself in water at this rate for the green one knew that the waves were strong, despite their ebbed state. As salt water lapped up against the stallion's golden hooves, Verloren took a quick breather to regain his composure and to speak with Zuriel before the mer thought of him as impolite. "One's children can get annoyed at you... especially when they're grown and seek their own independence. Ideas clash... its a natural thing... to be expected really..." Slowly breathing, the stallion continued to water a bit deeper into the shallow water. "You have any kids?"
