"C'mon, c'mon!"

"I'm coming, Ana, god. Chill out. No more sugar for you."

"All you have in the house is sugar."

"...you make a good argument. Your wit spares you this time, mortal."

Ana snorted and skipped ahead of Evie, eager to get to what Evie constantly referred to as the 'alien headquarters'. She was privately hoping it was to buy a Scent-sibling even though Evie was flat broke. Maybe she could convince the long-suffering girl into it....

"And behold, the mothership cometh," Evie drawled, pointing to the harmless-looking shop. "Nice, innit?"

"I LOVE IT IT'S SO CUTE LETS LIVE HERE."

Ment sat outside the shop, eyes glazed over, that look from in between sleep and wake plastered over his face like a mask. He yawned, sinking further into his little stool which he sat upon, a watering pale barely in his grasp, water flowing forth from it. Didn't seem the pumpkins were getting fed after all.

"It's. So. EARLY~" The boy whined, cracking his neck with a groan and scoffing his shoe with as much force as he could muster. He yawned again, spotting Ana and Evie drawing near. "People get up so early..."

"You can say that again, kid," Evie said, stifling a yawn of her own. She felt certain that she'd violated a law of reality, getting up so early on a day that wasn't for school.

"HIIII NEW PERSON!" Ana shouted, running hell-for-leather right at him.

"Ana. Tone it down, you'll spook 'im off."

Anastasia flushed faintly green.

"Sorry," she said to Ment, skidding to a halt before she crashed right into him. "I'm Anastasia nice to meet you you live in the coolest place ever."

She sucked in a deep breath, trying to slow down the river of words that spouted out of her.

"Who're you?"

Ment was about to comment upon Evie's comment when out of nowhere a girl of green (it reminded him of Degas) crashed into him toppling them both onto the stone slab called the porch. He blinked, watching her intently as if the words flowing forth from her mouth were freakishly tangible. As the girl finally came to a hault, Ment lifted a hand, pinching her nose shut, "Honk. I'm Ment."

He let go of her as he tried to remember exactly what she said,"'Ello, Anastasia...That's a really long name...Wait. How is this place cool? It's boring."

Ment peered to the side of Anastasia and waved to Evie, "Hi pretty lady." Always get on their good side.

Ana blinked. He'd just pinched her nose. She laughed, and beeped his.

"Nice to meet you, Ment."

She looked up at the shop, and grinned widely.

"Becaaaause! It's...well..." she paused. She hadn't even been inside yet. For all she knew it was as interesting as an IRS office in there. She just shrugged.

Evie, polishing her glasses on her shirttail, smiled at Ment.

"Cute AND crafty," she said dryly. "Ana, get off him before ya crush him, sweetheart."

Ana jumped of obediently, and kept on jumping up and down in excitement.

"I wanna go iiiiiin~"

Ment blinked again, "Well what's stopping you? Shop's open. Been open." He lifted himself off the ground, a giant wet spot on the back of his shirt where watering pale met cotton. Eh. He didn't care, he could always tell Olivia that counted as his bath for the day.

Dusting himself off he opened the door to the shop, the little bell chiming the presence of people. "Come on in. It's a little dusty though. Olivia didn't get to dust the shelves yet."

Olivia was sitting in the back, taking inventory as the snow haired child lead his new friend's indoors, she had only heard his last comment and stuck her wisdom into the mix, "That's because it's not my job! It's yours!"

Ment looked at Ana and Evie and whispered a tad, "Don't be frightened, she's always scary in the morning."

Skipping inside, positively bursting with excitement, Ana promptly nearly knocked over a display.

"Oop! Gotcha," she said hurriedly, catching a burner before it crashed to the floor. Pretending she didn't notice Evie's reproving glare, she wandered around the store - in extreme caution. "Ooooh, wow, wow..."

"Eh, dust adds character," Evie said, shrugging. She grinned and waved at Olivia. "Hey."

Ment stuck close to Ana after her nearly life changing oopsie. Afterall, as nice as Ana was, there was enough people working in the shop. And he figured Merrick would probably torment her as much as he tormented him.

"I don't get how you're so fascinated by how the shop looks." Ment stated. "Do you not get out enough?"

Olivia smiled and waved at Evie embarissed that she had yelled at Ment infront of people. Yelling was for closed closets, not open ones. It wasn't till after a moment that she spotted Ana and turned herself, another episode of dread waving over her. Thankfully she was smart after the first few encounters with the incense children and promptly put a "No Returns" sign on her shop window.

"I stick around the house, mostly," Ana said, admiring a fancy oil burner from a safe distance. "Any time I get to go out is nice. 'Specially with Evie, since she's always busy with school. It's a special occasion, y'know?"

Evie sauntered over to the counter and leaned on it, smiling like a cat at Olivia.

"So, how's things on the invasion front?" she said drolly. "Any more scent-aliens popping up?"

"Invasion front?" Olivia repeated, arching a brow. She never had it put that way before. "Uhm... Things are fine on the front I guess. There have been a couple more kids emerging from what I've heard. We've been getting a nice stream of business now though, so I guess not every oil I sell sprouts kids." Olivia laughed.

"You should come here while your mommy's in schools." Ment muttered. "There's lots of things to do here. Cleaning, selling people stuff, getting to take the tip jar and count the money...Chasing the weird looking cat out of the shop front. Lots of things."

He ran a hand through his hair and watched her for a minute, "You smell nicer than I thought you would."

"That's good," Evie said, grinning slightly and eyeing a bottle of oil on a nearby shelf. "I'm nearly tempted to get another one...maybe some other time, of course."

"Ooooooooh," Ana said, drawing out the sound like a song as her eyes widened. "That could be cool...I could help, and I'd be really good at it and it'd be fun. Oh, Ment, you're so lucky, you get to stay here all the time..."

At the rather backhanded compliment, Ana smiled dubiously.

"Um. Thanks? You smell like toothpaste. Or candycanes. It's nice."

"Of course..." Olivia said, plotting how she would tempt the woman into buying another. Ahh. She was so clever sometimes...Or at least she thought so.

Ment smiled a little with a smirk, "I'm supposed to smell like candy canes."

Two minutes later he snaped back to his happy go lucky state and started rambling on again about how fun it would be for Ana to come over, "We could have 'Livia make us sammiches, or we could go to that place that Degas showed me and get ice cream..."

Evie gave the shelves another look, half wary and half tempted. Maybe, maybe....well. When she had a house bigger than a glorified broom closet, anyway.

It was a remarkable show of will that Ana didn't immediately start drooling. Ice cream. Ice. Cream. Oh, heavenly gods and puppies, ice cream.

"Sounds great," she said faintly, having to physically restrain herself from latching onto Ment and hugging him out of sheer sugar-fueled glee. "And then we could...um....go get ice cream. And then live there. With the ice cream."

There. That totally made sense, didn't it?
PostPosted: Sun Jan 06, 2008 2:21 pm

"Live with the ice cream?" Ment asked. "Wouldn't we get cold from living with the ice cream? I don't think it'd like us living there while we ate it."

Ment scratched behind his ear as his envisioned his ice cream-y fortress with Ana and the ice cream families and babies...Wouldn't they all look like little balls?

"Your child seems to fair well with all the other children." Olivia remarked watching as Ana and Ment talked to each other. "I bet she's the perfect little angel."
