the GoPets forum is divided into a "We support Erik" and a "We don't!!" groups.
just as a warning to all... it's a complete mess over there. Be careful what you say because even the most normal comments are twisted into negative context. And anyone who is associated WITH you will also be banned without warning as well!

If you haven't heard, there's been a new GoPets update that may-or-may-not affect you (but it ticks me off completely). Erik has decided that there are just TOO many green shells and food items in GoPets.
And so he has decided to arbitrarily cap items to 99,999 of each item in your inventory. SO if you had MORE than 100k of a particular item, it has been deleted and you may or may not get reimbursed.
Erik also thinks that even 99,999 of an item is too high, and he'd like it to be 5000 item limit. He also doesn't like users to have a lot of green shells (1 million or 2 million as a max) and he hates when users send newbies free food to get them started.
He MAY start wiping out everyone's GREEN SHELLS TWICE A YEAR. So that everyone is forced to start over twice every year!
These are all very potential and real scenarios as Erik refuses to listen to anyone who disagrees with him.
update#1: ok, so the update took place last night. not sure how this will all go, but only time will tell.

Basically, Erik has decided that selling gold thru GoPets has been greatly undercut by people selling gold thru the forums (via paypal).
SOOOOO to solve this, he stupidly decided to make all current gold virtually worthless.
Instead of GoPets gold packs 30 gold for $3
it will be 3000 gold for $3.
In addition, prices in the shops will rise by 25-100 times their current price.
Therefore if you have 2000 gold saved up in your account, it won't even be worth $3 after this update. "virtually worthless". BUT if you spend them NOW and buy the items you want NOW, you'll at least have items instead of gold after this update.

Everyone begins with zero points.
"Challenge" a person by asking them 1 question about GoPets or Gaia (ex: "Elie, Who is the CEO of GoPets?").
Each day, you can "Challenge" one person. You earn +1 pt for asking a question. (Any question on topic is OK!)
If they answer correctly, they earn +1 pt.
If they answer incorrectly (or does not reply within 24 hours), the question is now open to everyone. Someone can now STEAL the challenge!
Steal a challenge by answering correctly and earn the +1 pt.
You can only submit 1 guess per question. If it's wrong, the question is still open for someone else to answer!
If the question hasn't been answered correctly for 3 days, the person who originally asked the question gets the +1 pt for thinking of such a sneaky question!
Keep track of your own points. (perhaps you might copy-paste your current points at the bottom of each of your post)
Trade points in for prizes! Save up for bigger prizes! But be careful, someone might claim the item you want first!
As items are claimed, they will be removed from the list.
Keep an eye out for bonus points! I might randomly declare tasks that earn you extra points (ex: Write a poem today and earn +2 pts)
(Prizes and Points may be randomly changed or revised as I see how this game goes on!)
*NEW* You might notice that the ratio between points & marketplace values are really different between some items. They might have the same points but are valued totally different. That's probably because some of the items rose in value since I started this. Generally I will only be changing an item's points once it's been claimed. If I have a duplicate of that item I will be moving that item to a more correct ratio bracket.

Bonus.... I try to stay away from resolutiouns... because I never keep them. Last year I wanted to read 100 books by october and I only made it to about 90. This year, I would like to have all my homemade christmas gifts done before Thanksgiving.... because then I will be too busy to get much time in for it.
