I start a lot, get distracted or bored and then move onto something new. Some stuff I've started and hopefully will finish within a few years mad (I should legally change my name to procrastination)

I did the original sketch for this one at work. I work for DSL tech support so I get to sit on my butt all day and not think ("plug the yellow cord into the yellow hole", ect) so lots of time to sketch

It's loosely based around a musician I listen to.
The people are to continue climbing up his face into his hair while those who fall are to be caught and devoured by his dragon tattoos (done in a more Chinese style dragon)

Based off the same musician as previous image.
The bucket-sama reference means nothing to anyone unless they have seen their live shows.
The chest muscles are all wrong adn the angle of the head is wrong. whoops.

I always wanted to draw a woman with big hair and a big scythe.
So I did.
This is what people do in call centers all day. That and throw pennies at one another. We're not nearly as professional as commercials try to make us look razz

Tried to do something completely unlike my normal stuff one day (I draw people, hurrr) and this is what my mind vomited out.
I was decently pleased with it.

now, for my WIP that I need help with ;w;!

I don't know what colour to do his skirt thing ;w;!!!
I tried a red like his necklace but it overwhelmed the picture. I don't wanna do more dark-navy as I feel it's just overdoing it (the background is to be a warm kind of sunset on the edge of a cliff where you can still seem some bushy foliage and such).
What do you people think? ;w;

i'm exactly the same, but u shouldn't procrastinate you have awesome stuff that should be able to propel you forward have confidence. For color the best way to go about it is thinking about the 3-dimensions of your drawing and getting a feel for it with the colors and darks, but i think u probably know how to do that

Not really o_o

I'm somewhat colour retarded. The only real art training I've ever had was someone once told me how to loosely map out a face and threw a colour wheel at me telling me to use opposite colours to darken.
Other than that, I've been kinda left to stew thoughts in my head of how to go about doing stuff =w=;
I don't know what colour really compliments what or whatever. As a back-up I just tend to chose colours that would be most likely to offend someone's retinas >>;

Well in choosing colors that your gonna use it is best to use a color wheel so that they compliment each other. But thats like when your painting a composition, your main colors for lighting and everything should probably be those colors. The other technique i suggest, is in drawing, there is a method of painting that to know u first have to know how to use the method drawing. Try looking up some michelangelo drawings, and look for drawings that have a lot of lines, if you notice the lines are used to define space, not shadows but 3-d space, by mimicking the direction of mass/matter. If you notice the lines just follow the direction of the skin, the direction the skin goes in 3-d space, all you have to do is practice that by drawings things that you see. Don't draw from other drawings, try picking up magazines and drawing the people you see and practice drawing lines using direction in 3-space. Afterward it makes painting a lot easier cause u have a feel for it. Btw here is a good example of a michelangelo drawing using lines in that method.

as you can see in this sketch of michelangelo's he uses a lot of lines to define space and mass. Although you don't need to use that massive amount of lines, but you will see if you practice it a lot it will change everything you view about drawing

Michelangelo....KING! heart Such a lovely example! Honestly, this will really help with color later! Cross-hatch is a very useful learning tool when it comes to how light or dark something should be. After you get that shading down, colors can come into play more easily.

So charge up your drawing arm, sharpen those pencils, and uncap some pens, and get workin' on it! Practice is gooooood! heart

The drawing thing you mentioned, I think they made us do something like that while I was in grade nine. I honestly didn't understand it but found it to be simply enough (atleast then. Not like I've done it sinec)

However, I fail to see how it links to chosing a proper colour for certain things in a picture or whatever o_o

I've had virtually no art training... teachers would just toss a medium at the students and expect them to figure it out at my school.

Well pertaining to color theory i have no training. I just know a little how to choose colors by using colors that are opposite in the color wheel as the basis for my composition, or using 3 colors that are equally distant in the color wheel as the basis for the composition. You can find that stuff online, then there are certain color that contrast each other, like red in black, or black in red. But the cross hatching and line thing is extremely important because when you paint your drawing you want to be able to paint the shadows according to the mass of your drawing. If you can see your drawing as 3d than the shadows become less of a problem when you paint it.

Hi! these are awsome! I've tons of art training and it doesn't make a difference- if it looks good do it! I'd pick something dark like forest green. Hope this helps!
(just out of curiousity do all the drawings I post in my thread- haven't made it yet- have to be of vamps?)
