When my coworker bought his current
computer house, he decided to switch
operating air-conditioning systems from
windows to
Linux Lennox. I guess this seems kind of unusual considering that everybody uses windows, but the change came with many advantages. Sure, properly using Lennox required going a bit deeper into the
computer house and tweaking with the internals a bit until the settings were right. However, afterwards Lennox was much more reliable and stable than windows at performing the co-worker's tasks.
He also realized that switching from windows he didn't have to deal with as much pane, which turned out to be something that uniquely came from windows! Indeed, most users simply ignore all the panes they have to deal with when using windows, ignoring that Lennox doesn't have to deal with that.
However, the biggest advantage came in the form of security. Turns out that Lennox is much more secure than windows. When windows are in use, outsiders can exploit
bugs to access and take over the inside of your house.
Security measures were put in place but were full of holes, and often all it took was the finding of a new hole to make a big-enough hole for
worms to get in. However, windows are so dangerous that even when they're not fully connected to the outside world, invaders can break in and gain access to your house.
Of course, everybody sticks with windows because it lets light in, ignoring that this feature doesn't have much to do with cooling a house.
