Gabriella was out for another walk. Her last walk on her own away from the family's thicks of the woods showed her how delightful surprises could be. She paused as she reached the great river. She always loved the sound of its rushing water. The smell it gave. The tulips in her hair seemed to appreciate it as well.
As she bent her head down to look at her reflection, she opened her wings. She liked how the sun glinted through them and made them look glowy in teh water. Was she the only one who was so short? All the soquili she had met thus far were all considerably taller than her. Even Mythy's mom and sister. They were bigger than her. Not that it made her feel especially bad about herself.

As the day unfolded to a sparkling fun filled afternoon, a little purple flutter was racing along the wild flowers beaming as brightly as a peacock. She'd seen the parrot stallion on his way and felt like she could take on the world. Flitting her wings she felt positively radiant. Perhaps she'd come across Torn and say hello, or any other random soquili for that matter.
Life was simply wonderful.
Now that her wings was healed she was a terror of the skies. Zipping in between the taller flowers and crab grass she giggled merrily. As if in her own little ritual dance Shaylee bobbed her head while doing loop-de-loops in and out of things. "Wheehoooooooooooo," she giggled doing another flip.
Curving around a bend she noticed something rather beautiful but strange. A soquili her size with wings like she had a horn. Well how was this possible she wondered. She'd only seen her kind with butterfly wings, but on closer inspection this one definitely was carrying a horn like Glory or Arwen. She was indeed smaller than the normal batch and what's this? Oh she had pretty flowers in that pretty hair that rolled like golden waves down her back.
"Whoah so beautiful." So the little sugarplum flitted over, her wings buzzing quite happily as they kept her in the air. If it was another flutter Shaylee betted she'd be fun to talk to.

Gabriella blinked her eyes as dust flew in them. What in the world? It was small gusts of wind. But, had it been windy? No.. not that she remembered... As she looked up out of a guarded eye, she noticed the fluttering tiny soquili.
"Why... you're almost my size! Here I was starting to think I was the only one my size... and your wings... a little different.. but more like mine then those parrot soquilis.... neat.." She looked a little agasp. "and... YOU'RE FLYING?"
She had heard Mythril talking about flying. She thought it was just him being a dreamer. She had never really given thought to the possibility that she could in fact actually fly with her wings.

Shaylee buzzed over with a brilliant little smile as it curved her lips. Just as she was excited to see the amazement in the strange fluttercorn's wings, the other was just as curious about her. So the feeling of both little mares was mutual in sense.
"Yep I'm a flyer. Do you fly too? You got way cool wings too," she giggled slowing down now to hover around the other with much happiness. It was always a treat to see another here size, though soquili height didn't matter to the sugarplum fairy. She loved seeing all sorts from towering giants, chipper little usdias, to the tiny foals of her kind and others. Everything to Shaylee was pure fascination with all she encountered. Now that her wing wasn't torn and battered she was zooming around like your average insect, happy as a lark and full of energy.
"Names Shaylee the one and only Sugarplum fairy... teehee," she nodded with a flick of her tail, "What be yours? Bet its really pretty too. Say how come you got a horn?"
She was her usual self for a time so a bantering little wonder she would be. The other seemed calmer, almost like Saissis, but she was curious too.

Gabriella just giggled lightly. What a brightly spirited girl! "Well, I have a horn because I think I am what's called a crossbreed. I have flutter blood and unicorn blood in me. As for flying, I have never done it. I never really knew if my wings could really support my body."
Her eyes looked around and then back up at her. "A fairy, huh? Well, you are the first fairy I have met. What an honor..." She smiled in a cute polite way. The thought began to blossom making Gabriella realize that maybe there were just all sorts of soquili. Tall ones, short ones, ones with wings.. some without.

Shaylee's eyes never left the mare though her heart was racing with excitement. "Imagine that. And here I thought I saw everything in soquili. Hee hee guess I was wrong. I like your horn, its really pretty." the orchid mare chirped flitting her wings as a wild bug does.
"Ah nice to meet cha Gabriela. You know with all those flowers you look like a fairy Princess too?" she nodded with a bright grin that overtook her whole expression. Its a wonder if Shaylee ate too many sweets or was just naturally this hyper others would think.
Tilting her head she let her wings still, "Never flew? But its what flutters do." Her mouth dropped with a sadness knowing another of her species hadn't experienced the joy of going anywhere you wished. "Well its not hard really. A few bumps and bruises when you first start out, but then its zip zoom boom and off ya go. Not sure when I started flying really. I think I just have... And its wonderful!" she giggled rising from the ground zipping back and forth with a silly grin as her face shined with happiness.
Maybe she could coax this little one to fly and join her in exploring the great big world.

Gabriella smiled wide with a softened eyes. The kind one might get when saying "awww...." at something so sweet. "A princess? Really?? That is so kind of you. I know... How about.. We can pretend that I am a princess. I am trapped in a fortress known as The Doom of Fear and Never Having Tried. You are my fairy god princess... and, with your help, I could break free. I can learn how to fly and leave behind all the wonders about what happens when my feet leave the ground."
She stood there waiting to see what this sugar plum fairy might think. Would she want to? Or, did it sound far too childish? Did others pretend anymore? Was it silly???

Shaylee listened intently for a jovial tale no matter how silly or serious was a great one to participate within. Immediately her little brain was churning ideas rapidly one right after another. Oh a dragon. No its a Kalona, Oh maybe a skinwalker could be the ebil captor of the cherished beautiful princess. Yes that was it! No maybe it was a mean old spirit that looked like a soquili. Ooh what would it be she wondered. A dragon Kalona of the utmost ebil had done it! Okay that's what they were going with in this story telling episode.
But who was the rescuing knight she wondered? Hmm maybe she was the knight. She struck a pose with a grin, "Alright then. It seems an ebil dragon kalona has done this horrendous act and we must free you oh Princessly one."
Fluttering her wings rapidly she looked about for something to break the lock, "After we free you... You must fly Princess, like a butterfly before the ebil dragon kalona arrives once more."
Picking up a big stick she began stabbing a tree base with a knothole. Over and over she kept stabbing as if beating on a lock that didn't exist. Shaylee was determined to help her before danger reared its ugly head yet again. Yes she would prevail for she was Shaylee the brave fairy godmother.

Gabriella was leaning her head forward, some hair getting snagged on her unicorn horn. Oh.. her horn... "Hey, I wonder if my horn has magic that unlocks doors?"
She walked forward and put the tip of it into the hole Shaylee was trying to pick. "Oh, you see those sparkles? It worked.. I guess we have to hurry so noone catches us!" With that, she turned and started to gallop towards a low hanging cliff they were near, one that stood above a running river.

The orchid mare watched the palomino one closely with eyes that flitted and glazed with anticipation. Her little hooves of shining purple dancing with this little enjoyable plot in motion. Thinking deeply to herself how she wished there truly was a monster to chase them. Oh the excitement that would be!
Charging after Garbiela she noted the vicious cliffs lying beneath them as violent waves crashed and barred the wall they stood upon. If the princess didn't fly she'd fall very far into a darkness waiting to swallow them whole. No she couldn't let that happen. For she was a mighty knight filled with the goodness of being a fairy Godmother. There was no way she'd let any dragon barre their way.
Snorting she flitted her wings turning to Gabriela, "You need to believe Princess. Close your eyes and want to fly. Wish deeply for it only works with confidence. Imagine your feet leaving the ground. Believe!" she chimed with urgency closing her own eyes and flitting her wings fast that they actually buzzed with intensity as she left the ground.

Gabriella then picked up a little more speed. She dashed forward just a tad faster, being great at fast speeds. Then, following the advice of her fairy godmother. She shut her eyelids tight.
In her mind, she was a big beautiful bird. No, not a bird... An angel... Yes... She was an angel who had been trapped in a giant cage. A divine key had unlocked the door, letting her free. She spread her wide spreading wings out, and she flapped her way out into the air.
As she opened her eyes, she then realized she had in fact started to fly. However, the shock of realizing it almost started to make her fall, but the goodness of her body's instincts kicked in. Her wings began to beat against her feverishly, pulling her back up in the air. "Where are you fairy god mother?"

Shaylee zipped in the air as fast as she could as her wild imagination posed the threat of a great kalona dragon breathing fire. The rush of her urgency sent her dipping upward than downward with a fierce fluttering of those lovely wings that caught the sunlight in a shimmering sheen around her. Snorting she invisioned the flames coming screaming, "Hurry Princess hurry. She's coming!"
No she wouldn't give up in this madness. No dragon would take her down. Looking downward she noticed Gabriela actually lifting from the ground and giggled. Zipping fast to the right she had just missed being singed from the boiling hot flames as they crawled toward her.
Dipping down to Gabriela her wings beat so fast they buzzed much like those annoying terrors called Bumblebees. "I'm here Princess! She coming close now. We must fly over this ravine and make it to safety. I won't let her capture you ever again."
Hearing the roar of the mighty beast she closed her eyes and imagined a long spiral growing outward as it reached for the skies. All over she noted the mythical armor that protected her from the inferno that stretched to meet her. What looked to be a tree was a mighty beast black as ebony with crimson wings as it lunged toward her. A fearsome foe more horrific than those accursed bumblebees is what Shaylee saw.
Now face to face with the brimstone spewing beast she screamed, "Go Princess! I'll hold this creature of hell at bay. Fly to safety!"
Snorting she pawed the air with intensity of winning, it was her or the dragon.

Gabriella was still teetering a bit here and there. She would start to drop a bit, not all together having control over how to let her body go with the flow. The ravine, she saw it. She had to make it passed that. Oh, how her body wanted to rest and take a break.
She furrowed her brows, and she was determined to make it. After all, her friend was here to help make a way for her. It was the least she could do. She galloped like she was dashing across a plain. Then, her wings began to push at full force. She was then accelerating fast, and the speed gave her body strength. She pushed herself just a bit.
Before she knew it, she had spun downwards towards a ledge of the ravine on the other side. She landed, flapping her wings out and taking a breath. She wanted a drink, but she looked around and saw they'd have to fly to the floor of the ravine if she wanted a drink that fast.

"Come on you come on! You think you're all big and bad don't ya? Well I can be too!" she shouted as her own little fantasy was unraveling like an epic novel in front of her. In her lighted imagination she noticed the dragon and its flame breath, large claws, and evil eyes. "Come on flame breath! I'm a flutter with power!" she shouted watching as Gabriela had actually lifted into the sky and flew. Oh my gosh she actually flew! Way to go Gabi!
Stepping backwards she grabbed a branch and stabbed outward toward her creation. "Back you back!" Then she flitted her wings so fast, she herself was flying toward Gabriela grinning. "See told ya you could fly... and look at the big bad dragon. It seems to be trapped in its own prison. Wheehoo!" She then danced about Gabriela with wide eyes and wonderful power that built up within those hooves and expressions as she danced about.
That certainly had been some adventure.

When Shaylee had said that, Gabriella did look back, but she also looked down. Suddenly, the muscles around her wings started to slacken. She started losing her balance and started to tumble a little bit. This of course made her feel a little panicked. How do you right yourself when you lose your which way is up?
Gabriella then tucked and rolled onto a small ledge in the side of the cliff. She looked up and then decided she better find a way to make this play into the little flutter's game. "Oh my... I think... She got my wings a little.." She looked down to the side both feeling silly and embarrassed. "Just when I thought I had outrun her. Oh, how will I ever get away now..."
Deep down inside, part of her rejoiced for having tried and started a little. So what if it wasn't completely graceful? At least hte only one to see what this kind soul who bothered to help her anyways... Still.. she couldn't give up now.. especially since she was standing in a place not too big.. and only way out was to fly again.
