Missy, looking hot even in her "Bride of Frankenstein" outfit of tattered white "wedding dress" and big fro hair with a streak of white, was having a ball.
She had set up a walkway, lined out with orange and black streamers, as well as three little stands for the winners to stand on. There was candy in a huge bucket next to her table where she could dispense from, and she was quite generous with her dispensing as well.
"So we've got first place, second place, and third place ribbons all ready!" she chimed happily. "Now we just need the winners!"

That is all. XD}}

"We win pleez," said a little voice out from under the desk: Wisp did not really understand the concept of "competition" or probably even "winning", except that it was desirable. She was wearing a little black dress and had a pair of net wings clipped to her back, monarch butterfly wings: she had a headband on that mimicked curled-up butterfly antennae and looked adorable. Less so Jacoba, and much less so her faux-brother sitting next to her. "We win! Yay!"

Before Missy could attempt to explain the concept of winning to the children, a rather older boy skidded through the door and looked around. His blonde hair tumbled into his eyes and he reached up to push it back with absent irritation. He was dressed all in green and a bow hung across his back, the tails of arrows peeking up over one shoulder.
"Where...?" Then, as if realizing the room was occupied, he blushed hotly (though the color could barely be seen beneath his nut-brown complexion) and grinned lopsidedly. "Sorry, ma'am," he called. "I was just lookin' around for where this costume thing is. I thought I was gonna meet my friend there but I dunno if she's even here so..." He trailed off and shrugged.

"You're here for the costume competition?" Missy said. "Then this is the place! I'm sure your friend will show up here sooner or later!"
Chris didn't say anything, but one of his oversized hands came out from under the desk, grabbing a handful of candy and pulling it under with him to share with Wisp. He tended to eat the wrappers, though.

Wisp said an indistinct "Fanks," as as soon as she had been handed candy a lot of it went in her mouth and the paper littered the ground beside her. She peeked out from under the desk at the new arrival, chewing furiously, and made more indistinct squeals: she swallowed thickly, wriggling in excitement. She had seen the Disney Robin Hood, and considering Iggy had a great deal in common considering the tail he was instantly recognisable.
"ROBIN," she squealed. She looked around anxiously: maybe Maid Marian was there, too!

Ignacio started at the sudden shrill holler and looked around, blinking. Spotting the children beneath the table, he rewarded them with a toothy, white grin. "Yep, that's me. Dad said if I'm gonna wear green all the time, I might as well wear it now. Y'know?" He crouched down so that he was more on level with them; he didn't seem to be at all fazed by the motley crew. "I'm Iggy."

Chris looked up at him with curious gold eyes, then held out some of his slightly damp candy in offering.
"This is Christian and Wisp," Missy said, peeking at them as well. "Chris there is my son." Her voice didn't even tremble on that statement. She was quite proud of herself.
Chris was dressed just like Eddy Munster, complete with shorts and dress coat. He had gotten rid of the shoes long before, though.

Wisp blinked docilely at Iggy, who was faced with two sets of curious eyes now: one gold, one blue. Chris had shed his shoes, and Wisp had shed her little Mary Janes as well, despite loving them. "Robin Hood an' Little John walkin' inna forest," she recited to the older boy. "Oodlelally oodlelally golly what a day."

Ignacio laughed, pressing his palms down on the floor to better balance himself. "Yeah, I know that song," he agreed. "I like all the animals in that movie." He looked from Wisp to Christian. "Do you guys like the animals?" he asked as if it was the most important question in the world.

Chris looked up at him somberly. He still hadn't started talking, and something warned him that he shouldn't. He could almost swear he would sound different, just as much as he looked different.
So he gave the bigger (but honestly not THAT much bigger) boy a hesitant smile and nodded. Even though he had no clue what they were talking about. What movie?
"Chris hasn't seen that one yet," Missy admitted. "I'll have to throw a movie party sometime!"

"I like aminals!" said Wisp. She had exposed Chris to animal crackers, at least, even if Jace still demanded her right to eat all of the hippos. Her butterfly antennae bobbed as she confided to Iggy: "Chris is new."

"Oh!" Ignacio brightened at this announcement like it answered a bunch of questions for him. "Gotcha. I wondered why you weren't talkin'," he said to Christian. Then he shared his smile with Christian's mom. Apparantly, this kid was beyond fearless. "I didn't talk for ages, Dad says. 'Course he said it was manners 'cause I was always too busy chewin' on things and it's not nice to talk with your mouth full."

Missy laughed, unable to help herself. "Actually, Chris is the same way. I had to hide his baseball bat binky before we left the house, or he would be chewing on that right now. Honestly, though, I'm still not sure that wood chips are good for his digestive system."
She actually looked thoughtful on that question.

"I talked lots!" said Wisp, not understanding why anybody would choose to keep silent. After the third or so day, it had been nigh-on impossible to shut her up. Then she pouted: "Chris an' Iggy got tails," she said woefully, having been jealous of Chris' from the start and now envious of Iggy's lovely waggy one. Why didn't she get a tail?
