It's a '92 3000GT VR-4, bone stock. The only thing that I could consider a mod on it are the white-faced instrument guages. I have more pictures upon request.

I have more pictures upon request. very clean, the 3000GTs has a transmission issue where it goes bad around 50k miles, my friend went through 2 of them and each one had a bad tranny her second one was a 95 3000GT VR-4 TT

You're not kidding. I have an acquaintance that has one around here, he's had to drop it and replace it entirely twice. crying Mine works fine, though. No grinding during shifts, clutch pushes and pulls smoothly. What I'm more worried about is the 4WS; I've never had a car with it before, so I'm still trying to learn about it entirely.

the trick to it is to not push it to it's limits, you can sometimes hear knocking under your feeet and thats the cue to downshift or stop. She told me that when the car was knocking its cuz someing was monkeying around in the tranny.you can swap the tranny for a dodge Stealth,its basically a 3000GT with a dodge emblem, i think it uses a different tranny but it should work perfectly

I know about the Stealths, but I've never heard of the Stealth transmission being better. There's a lot I've got to learn, though, so I'll check up on that on 3si.
I remember when I bought this, though. The idiot selling it was all like "yeah, it's got a Dodge 3.0L TT in it, though, so it's still American," and wouldn't believe me when I told him differently.
As for pushing it, I hardly push the transmission at all; the only times that I do are when I encounter HSers in Mustangs who think they're hot s**t, and the like, and that usually doesn't happen (despite the fact that I live in hicksland in Kentucky). Other than that, I shift normally and baby it.

I wouldn't buy a domestic unless if it was a truck, engines dont last as long in their cars. Dodge needs to stick to trucks and their viper. i think the only succesful eco car they came up with was the NEON SRT-4 you know how to piss off a Stang owner? On the 2000+ i think, there is a relay behind the taillights, if you hit it hard enough, you can kill the relay w/o breaking the taillight. or you can tell them that the majority of Stang owners are women (which is true)

I'm gonna go visit the factory where they made 6G72s when I go to study abroad in Japan in a year. I'm not too much on American cars except for the oldies (and simply because of the abundance of parts and the simpler engine design). You're right about women and Mustangs. There are so many around me that my tuner group's come up with a nickname for them: "Stang sluts". And as for that relay, I'll keep that in mind. I've actually had the chance to look after a friend of mine's Mustang GT for a little while (it was the 1999-2004 generation; the average one you see on the road); it only had 12000 miles on it at the time, and it already had shitty electrical (alternator and battery worked, but the engine still lost power during idle and died a lot, even with 93 octane gas) and a slipping auto transmission (which makes me wonder why Ford would even both putting A/T on one of their high-end sports cars. V8 muscle cars are not for everyday traffic-driving, that's what the V6 model's for). Another friend of mine convinced her to trade it in for a B18C5 '99 Honda Civic, and, even with the engine swap and high mileage, she's had no problems of the Mustang's caliber since.

Yup. 134,6xx-ish. What makes you think it's not a VR-4, other than the missing "TWIN TURBO" emblems that the previous owner (I'm not sure why) took off behind the side windows?

Nothing made me think it's not, I'm just used to dealing with people who BS on here way too much, just the idea of having a rare performance car on here made me skeptical. Do you have any plans for a rebuild? I wonder how long those turbos will last.

I don't race it a lot, mainly because I need the parts to last for a while. My focus right now are basic things (new tires, brake pads, electrical components) because of money. VR-4s are expensive little beasts.
This coming Christmas, I'm gonna rip out the current hydraulic valve lifters and replace them with 3rd generation 3000GT lifters (they have a 3mm bearing opening for oil, compared to my current 0.5mm-ish), and on top of that, a new set of spark plugs (being that I've gotta take apart the intake manifold to get to the back 3 cylinders, I figured I may as well kill two birds with one stone, being that I've only got one set of the necessary gaskets to do the job).
The turbos are obviously aged, so they're only pushing about 7-9 lbs. a pop. One of these days, I'll probably replace them with GReddys, but before that, I'm replacing the transmission, AWD transfer case, and eventually the entire brake system with a nicer one (slotted and/or drilled brake rotors, new calipers, new lines, the like), and being that getting money for that's gonna take a while, I'll probably rebuild or replace the block entirely too. x3

Ryu_Kaze Most VR-4s I've seen have big spoilers Yup. This one has a non-active-aerodynamics spoiler like most of them do. x.x I switched that out for a regular spoiler because the original one wasn't working, looked dumb (with that wierd plate extension-ey thing under it), and was unnecessary. A little extra downforce doesn't matter on the street, anyway. It took a little bit of time to do, but it was almost next to nothing in terms of cost. I ripped the regular spoiler off of a 3000GT standard trim at a junkyard (I was extremely lucky; it was a 1st gen body like mine and everything), and had it repainted by some of the auto-body-specialist guys that I went to high school with.

The VR4's and very nice cars, quick as hell too, my friends cousin has one, and it goes like stink.
Does the 4WS make it handle that differently?
And yeah the Mustang is the muscle equivalent to the Civic in the tuner world. There are nice one's but most of em are s**t.

The 4WS? Only if you're turning at low speed. The suspension is what really makes the difference for my car in terms of control; I don't know why, but Mitsubishi did a very fine job with them (although, for some odd reason, it comes with an ECS; you can lower it a millimeter or raise it in the front at the push of a button. Kinda pointless, but kinda cool, too). It makes for a slightly rougher interstate ride than most (like most sports cars; one usually doesn't buy one for how smooth they ride, though, anyway), but it hugs corners really well, compared to the V6 Eclipse that I owned before that would feel like it was about to slide off the parkway ramps.
It all doesn't make a lot of sense to me, though, because the 3000GT, especially with all the performance stuff on the VR-4, weighs more than the Eclipse GT. I guess I need to study physics a little more?
