He had decided to take on a bit of traveling since he felt he wasn't doing much within his pride, let alone contributing to whatever it was he had been "annointed" to do... which was, basically, to hunt. And his pride had a number of lions and lionesses to do the hunting... plenty of 'em actually, since it was in their nature to hunt. A short while ago, a memory of his younger, innocent days hit him when he was musing over random things.

Now, here he was, after a few days of eager traveling, he had arrived in the Pridelands. At first, he had been a bit timid at the idea of intruding into a different pride's lands, but he was pretty sure the Pridelands, being the central place that held the major lions and lionesses, especially the royalty, would be pretty welcoming. Besides, he'd come here in search of his friend, Moyo. He was eager to see how she was and what she was up to these days.

Auri trotted along the rough dirt path with ease, her tail swinging along from side to side as she walked with purpose and a smile on her mouth. Today, so far, had been excellent: a pawful of rabbits for breakfast, bonding time with her parents, and now the opportunity for some privacy. It was, really, all a lioness needed every day, and she was fine with that.

Her paws took her to a spare waterhole between a cluster of boulders and a small area of grass. Thirst won out over the want to explore further, so she rested for a moment and drank a nice fill of the liquid.

He walked a little bit more until he ran into a pretty Prideland lioness who was lapping up some water. Unsure, at first, of what to do, he decided to finally just approach her. "Excuse me," he spoke quietly, letting her know he was within the premises and not wanting to surprise her. Lionesses were fearsome if you scared them or surprised them (on purpose or by accident, it didn't matter). "I'm looking for a lioness named Moyo, but I don't know where she is... she is an old friend of mine, as well." His ear twitched slightly as his green eyes swept the unfamiliar area.

"I... I come from different lands..." he tried to explain lamely, thinking that she might think him silly for asking when he should know. He peered curiously at this lioness, however, wonder why she looked oddly a lot like the lioness he was searching for. Perhaps a family member...? He shrugged to himself mentally. It could be possible, after all; it had been long seasons since last he saw Moyo, and here he was, all grown up and his language corrected. He didn't speak small sentences any longer, but that didn't mean he wasn't a socialist.

Auri lifted her head quite suddenly in surprise at being found. By a stranger, no less. She smiled in greeting, but at his words it slowly disappeared from her face, wary. There was honestly no telling that what this strange lion said was true, or that he was lying.

She couldn't be certain, although her peaceful side insisted that he was truly what he claimed. Why else would he travel all over the lands in search for a random lioness? Her mother could have had friends before she had met Auri's father, of course. Why not?

"I know of Moyo," she said instead. "She is my mother."

He stared at her for a long moment, rendered shocked by the news, before he managed to choke out a response. "M-Moyo? A... mother... ah... AH!" Realization hit him as memories from younger seasons flooded his vision... if he remembered correctly, Moyo was practically a full grown lioness when he was a mere cub, so it made sense she was now (probably at the time) mated and had had cubs.

Clearing his throat, clearly embarrassed, his tail began to swish back and forth (it had always been a sign of his nervousness and/or embarrassment) as he apologize. "I, um, I'm sorry! I, um, I-I..." Why was he stuttering? Trying to calm down, he finally flicked his green gaze away as he mumbled a bit loudly, "I'm sorry I hope I didn't offend you or anything I know it's weird to find a stranger suddenly popping up and asking about someone you might know and then it ends up being your mother and well I knew your mother when I was a cub and so now that I grew up I just wanted to see my friend again since it had been so long and um..."

He trailed off as he realized he was mostly just ranting now; from mumbling to a full-blown nervous wreck of an explanation. Wincing, he flattened his ears, waiting for the blow. She had looked worried when he had come up and normally if his size didn't scare away others it was he who was driven away.

Auri blinked in surprise at the happy reaction. Maybe he was telling the truth? He just seemed so sincere about it; it was hard to doubt someone that was stuttering from nerves, right in front of her.

"Woah, it's okay!" she hurried to reassure him. "It's okay!" she let out a small giggle. "Would you like to see her again? I can go home really quick and bring her back with me, if you'd like." She offered a gentle smile.

"Did you really make friends with her when you were just a cub? I could definitely see her doing that. She's so motherly all the time." She kind of rolled her eyes, but kept smiling anyway.

It was true, after all. Moyo could be very motherly, all the time, and no one would complain.

"I.. wha... what?" he peered at the lioness, feeling even more embarrassed. "You... you understood that? Hahaha..." his tail slowly stopped its wagging as he grinned widely at her. "Yes! Oh, please yes--it'd be quite kind of you, miss! Yes, I did know her when I was a cub."

He gave her a sheepish look. "I actually thought your grandfather was someone who was trying to bully her back that... ahahahaha... ha... ha..." he hoped he hadn't offended the pretty lioness. "Um, by the way, my name is... Tota. Tota'keke. I apologize for not... um, introducing myself earlier..."

The giant lion suddenly found himself reflected in eyes just as green as his, and it only warmed his heart a bit more. She seemed a kind lioness, and he didn't have to worry anymore. It was with great luck that it was even Moyo's daughter! ...Whose name he still didn't know, he thought, giving the lioness another sheepish look.

Auri giggled. "Of course," she said with a smile. "I'm Auri, by the way. I'm her only daughter. I have three brothers, although I have no idea where they are at the moment."

Her grandfather? He met Grandpa Kif? That wasn't a surprise, though. Grandpa was very friendly towards all lions, though Tota mentioned bullying...Auri couldn't help but wonder what kind of trouble her mother used to get into when she was younger...

That would be a question to ask later, for sure.

"Would you like to come along with me, back home, or wait here for mother and I? It honestly doesn't matter to me, but she would probably prefer it if you came and visited." Auri winked. "You know how motherly and kind she is."

A quiet smile was directed at the lioness as he bowed his head slightly. "If you don't mind, I'd like to come with you, instead of waiting here, because it'd be kind of interesting if I walked up with you, wouldn't it? I bet she'll be really surprised to see how, um, big, I've gotten." A wide fangy grin emerged from the quiet smile as he said that.

He shuddered a little remembering the powerful lion that he had met as a cub, later learning the lion was Moyo's father. He remembered he had wandered away from his family at the time and had gotten lost (of course, he felt bad considering he fell asleep!).

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Auri," he remembered at the last minute. "Only daughter? Dear, dear," he murmured. "You must quite the princess, hmm?" He winked and then tilted his head. "Perhaps... no. Let us go find your mother." That thought would be left for later contemplation, should he encounter Auri again.

"How big you've gotten?" she repeated with a knowing nod. Of course, years before, he must have been as small as her brothers had been when they were cubs. Then again, he might have run on the smaller side. None of her brothers had.

Moyo would be surprised, indeed.

She laughed at his 'princess' assumption. "I probably would be if I stayed around the den more often," she admitted, turning around to lead the way back to the den. "But I like walking around the borders too much to stay inside and laze about like the rest of them.

"I don't mind it, anyway. My mate will shower me in gifts, though, when I find him." She laughed again.

"Hn," he grunted in answer. Indeed, he had been the runt of the litter--somewhat, anyway--and his siblings were now all much smaller than he. It still made him feel out of place no matter what he did, but then again, it had been a long time since he had actually last seen his family.

"I enjoy exploring, as well," he commented. "Exploration is interesting since it takes you to new places and new friends." He smiled at her as he followed her at their liesure pace.

"I'm sure that whomever your future mate may be, he will drown you in gifts! Showering you with gifts is the least he could do to be blessed with a lovely, kind lioness such as yourself, Auri." He spoke seriously to tell her that he meant what he said.

Auri laughed, blushing a little at his sudden compliments. Sharifu had never said anything like this before...perhaps she should tell him that Tota came to visit them and what he said about her.

Maybe that would show him. HA.

"Why thank you," she returned, taking a second to turn towards him and give a little bow with her head. His tone spoke of seriousness, but she couldn't help but think what he said.

"Ah, here we are." She could now change the subject, at least, as they came upon her home. "Wait a minute for me?" Her paws lightly took to the well-worn path leading up to the mouth of the den and she peeked in for her mother.

"You're welcome... are you all right?" he asked, concerned when he saw the pink-ish hue to her face. Had she been sick all alone and he hadn't noticed, or maybe it was something he said and she got angry or...? Well, she had thanked him so... maybe he was just thinking too much.

He nodded, smiling. "Sure, I'll wait here." He couldn't help but wondering suddenly why he felt just the slightest bit envious of the lion who had captured Auri's heart, before he brushed the feeling aside. He would probably learn what that feeling was someday, but for now, he was content to meet up with an old friend once more.

"Mom?" Auri called softly into the den, carefully entering after a moment. Her mother was curled up in her spot, resting her eyes. "Mom," she repeated, nudging Moyo softly.

"Mm? What's wrong, dear?" Moyo awoke with a blink and a slight yawn, looking up at her only daughter with a curious, concerned glance.

Auri shook her head with a grin. "Nothing. There's someone outside that would like to see you again, though." She trotted outside to wait for her mother.

Again? Ohhh, who was it this time?
"Auri, I rather wish you'd stop playing these games of yours," Moyo began, slowly pushing herself to her feet and following her daughter, albeit more slowly. "You know how easily I ge--" She stopped, though, when she passed the den's mouth and saw the lion standing before them. She could see Auri's smile twitch from the corner of her eye, but she ignored it.

"Tota!" she exclaimed happily, padding over to her old friend and rubbing heads with him affectionately. "You've grown up so much!"

He rubbed heads with the lioness as he grinned. "Moyo, it's been a long time! Yeah, I have, haven't I?" he greeted, looking ever lively and more perked up than usual. "You look great! I see even becoming a mother hasn't changed you!" he teased, before winking at Auri.

"It's great to see you again after such a long time, my friend." He had a huge grin on his face now, looking like an incredibly overgrown cub as he licked one of Moyo's ears affectionately. He gave the lioness a smug look. "Haha! I'm bigger than you now! ...Where your dad? I want a rematch!" he teased, not really actually wanting to see Kifijo. "Uh, you know I'm kidding, right?" he whispered, and then turned to look at Moyo's daughter.

"Thanks for bringing me to see your mom, Auri," he thanked the lighter colored lioness.
