Just a thought..I get sick of hearing people say that HIM are an emo band. As far as I'm concerned, they defined their own genre, that genre being Love Metal.
I find their lyrics like poetry, especially a lot of songs from Razorblade Romance. I love how you can read them or hear them one time and they can mean one thing and yet you can hear them a few days later when your mood's changed and the song can be entirely different.
Seeing them live as well, made me realised how much they love their fans and also how much they appreciate each other. The focus isn't just on Ville and his singing, he calls out each of the band members in turn and lets them have the spotlight.
How about everybody else?

I consider HIM my gateway band. I used to be into rap and mainstream radio bands. Heard HIMs "Right her in my arms" On Cky video and it threw me into a world of music consisting of rock, heavy metal, and screamo.
I love how the music is so beautifull with cutting guitars. So nifty. The lyrics are amazing.
I love how they can change around and still be a good band. I love how they could actually preform "larger than life" and people talk about it in a possitive manner xD!

I downloaded HIM by accident and never regretted it (unlike a lot of other songs). They made me see the world in a whole new way and if it wasn't for them I'd still be singing by the radio instead of wandering off into my own little world with my headphones. They have such a range of songs that I can't get bored with them and the lyrics are always there to help me over a mental block when it comes to my writing.
Unfortunately, my view on love has never been the same. I'm always wanting more because HIM have shown me that there can be more than just what's there. But it doesn't matter, but dreams are much more exciting and smile-inducing than my real-life relationships.
HIM opened a door I never knew existed, and for that I owe them my life.

The lyrics are so beauty an entrancing, not just "I'm not ok, I'm really not ok" *cough* MCR *cough* It really irritates me!!

They have influenced me in several ways. Mainly HIM's music has alleviated my depression, and comforted me during tribulation.
The music i make is also almost entirely basd on HIM's early music, and consisting of found lyrics, and Linde's trademark dark, but beautiful guitar.

him is the kind of band that once uve become a fan their songs can speak for u. i catch myself thinkin about a girl or moment or my freinds and a random song will just pop up for that certain moment and it fits so beautifuly. theyre a dark romantic band and theyve only been gettin more brilliant the more mature they get. they're not satanic or emo and ppl who say that need to be shot. i get into disputes arguin their point all the time cuz im surounded by hicks who dont get what they are. i stopped listenin to music cuz all i ever heard was rap and country and they opened my musical door. H.I.M is the best and always will be

HIM would be one of my gateway bands not my first but diffently the best i use to not care about music much i Heard sporadic movement by CKY and killing wings of a butterfly of a youtube video and areing about music and basically life in general
HIM is like the perfect band it can be almost any kind of rock at any point in time.
I love how they can completely change tones and still be better than 99.99% of the bands out there mrgreen

I'm sick of them being seen as an emo band too...I love them and I am definitly not an emo.
I think if I wasn't listening to HIM I'd be unsure of what music I like. Since I started listening to them I've been so much more open minded about my the music I listen too. It's nice too know that I can appreciate the music my friends listen too as well.
It's helped me a lot in my college course as well...HIM have done so many different types of songs that they are so easy to relate to songs by other artists but so unique at the same time.

I'm a 'stuck in a shell' kind of girl. If I hear something I like I'll stick to it, and I mean stick to it. So one day, I was hanging out with my boyfriend and he said something about HIM and that I would like them. Boy was he right.
To me, HIM is emotional; not the emo kind, but more like it touches you inside like no other. Their songs "Join Me in Death" "When Love and Death Embrace" and "Wings of a Butterfly" just makes me love them more and more.
Their songs sooth me when I'm angry and they make me smile if I'm sad, it's just nearly unexplainable.

I went through a really rough patch about 4 years ago, and I was put on suicide watch. My parents had gone out for the night, and the girl who was supposed to be watching me for the night didn't feel like coming over so I was left alone. I put on a random mix c.d that my best friend had made for me, and I was going to try to kill myself, and hopefully succeed that time. Right when I went to cut myself, Your Sweet Six Six Six came on, and I just froze... I couldn't move at all. That was the only song by H.I.M that I knew at the time, but after I had seen what an effect that they'd had on me I went out to the store and picked up a few more of their c.d's. Now whenever I'm feeling down, I just put on one of their c.d's and feel better. My best friend doesn't listen to H.I.M anymore, but as you may see, they completely changed how I am. If it hadn't been for that one song, I'd probably be dead right now.
True Story.
