The sun was hanging low in the sky, the leaves of the trees rustling gently in the soft breeze that blew over the canopy. The red, yellow and brown leaves spiralled from the trees, alighting in the small clearing currently occupied by an elegant mare of similar hues, her coat a deep russety red, eyes mismatched in blue and green, her bright red mane and tail accentuated by white on the tip of the tail, and a white fringe. Her face was gentle, eyes kind and full of a childish curiosity that seemed to flow through the lines of her body as she watched this years fledglings of a blue jay family twitter and bicker on the branch above her. Her tattooed throat and flanks that reflected the opposite of her father's glittered brightly in the dying sun. She lifted her striped front hoof delicately, reaching out her head to the birds as their arguement grew in level. She chuckled for a moment before turning her attention back to her meal.
Beneath the tree, late blooming cowslips were reaching out to gather the last of the sunlight. Their petals held a similar hue to her family feathers, two multi-hued feathers of blue, purple, violet and teal blue. Her long flowing tail flicked sereenly as she bent her neck and used her teeth to gently prise one of the sweet blooms from the earth. Her pale tan tipped wings shifted a little, the feathers restless to fly, but the mare knew that her family were nearby, and with the cooling heat of the day, a good walk would be nicer. Besides, she honestly had met very few other then her Etsi, Doda and Vidia, her sister, or as her father had once told her, her ulv. The mare loved her father's native tongue. Yes, Tawali, her father. His speech was heavily accented with his native tongue, and the mare herself had picked up hints of it, but her sister, Vidia, had very little by way of accent, if anything. Because she, like her Etsi, had no wings, Vidia spent her time with their Etsi, who didn't have a strange accent.
Uwoduhi'Suli. That was her name. Her father had named her from his native tongue. It meant Beautiful Buzzard, which he had said was what she had reminded him of. 'Suli had loved it instantly. It was mysterious, and made her feel so special. Her mismatched eyes blinked slowly as she peered around, chewing pensively on her cowslip bloom. Stretching out her wings, spreading them up and out as far as they would go, 'Suli swallowed, dipping her head for another. Above, the blue jay youngsters seemed to have sorted out their dispute by kicking one of their number off the branch. Uwoduhi'Suli smiled at the little bird, who deciding 'Suli looked like a comfortable enough perch, alighted on her back, balanced between her wings, just above her tail. Shaking out her mane as a few leaves from above landed on her, 'Suli smiled at the little bird and returned her attention to the forest around her. Her Doda had told her she could never be too careful when out on her own. Wind Soquili were fast, but their bones were less strong then other Soquili, and as such, if she be caught by a predator, it might do more damage then on any other. He himself had gained his scars due to wolves.
"At least you'll be my friend, little tsaquo'lade." Sighing to herself, 'Suli smiled. She really needed to think about getting back to her family, but she had wondered off in the hopes of exploring and perhaps meeting someone knew. Sure, she had explored, but as far as she could tell, all the other Soquili had disappeared! It was odd.

*It sure was getting late and she didn't quite know where the heck she was. Stepping through the underbrush that sometimes scratched at ther washed out lavender sides, the young Usdia stomped, most noisily through the trees. Her pale pink mane and tail were a bit ruffled and littered with leaves, twigs and whatever else happened to get into her way.*
"This has to be unsanitary!" she cried out in frustration. "Why can't everything just MOVE out of my way!"
*Stomping her front hooves in frustration, the usdia acted much like a foal as she kicked out her hind legs, hitting anything that was behind her. Screaming again, she stood huffing, glaring upon the bushes willing them to just move. Baring her teeth, she stomped past, disturbing just about anything and everything that happened to just pop up in her way.*
"Where am I anyways?" she had to stop and frown, "This certainly doesn't look like home..."
*Through her frustrations a small patch of fear began to show through her hardened mask. Turning around from where she had stumbled and bumbled through, it seemed that she had indeed traveled further then expected from home... Not that she gave a hoot, the fools never cared for her, never did anything. Phooy with them all, a snort escaped her as she turned back to... Where ever she had been going, Lickety-Split needed no one and it seemed that no one needed her either as no one had come after her when she never returned home. At this she guessed no one really noticed, like always...*

The sound of shrill shrieks and stomping hooves caused Uwoduhi'Suli and her small feathered friends to start in a flutter of feathers and startled cries. 'Suli's eyes were large as they peered between the tree trunks, looking for the commossion, wondering whether she should go and help whoever was in such distress and trouble. 'Suli could see very little due to the bushes that grew to that side, and wondered whether it was a foal in such distress. It certainly had a foal like quality, and her heart grew as big as her eyes at that notion. She looked around carefully, making sure that nothing was going to try and sneak up on her and she edged carefully toward the sounds of frustration.
"Osiyo? Osiyo? Is there some'n in there?" Uwoduhi'Suli's eyes narrowed a little. Ahead, there was a lot of thrashing and heaving on bushes and other obsticles, but whatever was in there was small and appeared to be trapped. Pushing her way carefully through the undergrowth, wings held high so that the delicate feathers didn't get damaged, 'Suli strained her neck forward in an attempt to see what it was. A flash of washed out lavender and pale pink made her slow a little more. Before her was the smallest looking Soquili she had ever met! The little pony looked more then a little disgruntled, and 'Suli had to hold back a slight chuckle. She knew it was impolite, but the beautiful little Soquili did look quite a state with twigs and leaves all in her mane and tail. "Osiyo! D'ye need some help'n there?" She called, using her long forelegs to push apart the undergrowth and get closer to the little soquili.
Uwoduhi'Suli cocked her head a little to the side. If she didn't know any better, she would have said this Soquili was fully grown! But how could that be! She was so small, and acted very young for one older! She had a strange pattern on her hind-quarters, like cones with fluffy white on the top. It made no sense to the Wind, but she wouldn't question the poor thing now. First, she needed to help the little one out of the bushes she was trapped in.
"Ni, come this way. Ah'll clear'a way for ye, asehi?" 'Suli smiled sweetly at the soquili and forced herself around, wings still high for protection, and made her pathway in a little wider so the other could walk through more comfortably. "Nu'la, come, follow me."

*Turning back around from looking 'home' ward, the usdia was about to walk on though her path was blocked, what more could happen to her? First she stumbled through the most filthy water imaginable and soon was walking though a thick patch of briers, could the day get any worse? It seemed so as narrowed eyes started at the thick bush before her, though the sounds of someone else around came to her lowered ears. Blinking a couple of times, she looked around, someone was also calling? The language sounded a bit... Mixed, she barely understood most of it, if any at all.
Turning in circles, almost becoming very dizzy, she laid eyes upon the larger soquili whom she apparently had startled by her outbursts not too long ago. Turning her head up to stare aimlessly 'up' at the larger, it seemed that this one was different then on she had met some time ago... What was his name? ... She didn't remember.*
"What?" she said a little loudly as she watched this larger wind soquili make a path though the thick bushes. "About time someone got me out of this infernal place." She stomped soon shoving herself past the larger as if it wasn't there. "Lazy, slow, good for nothin's." She muttered under her breath as she stomped on, hoping for a 'clean' place to bath though she stopped and looked back at the wind, "So you going to get me out of here? Or do I have to myself, I do have to bath before this stuff stains my coat. Thank you very much!"
*Yes, she was childish, selfish and anything else that came to mind. Just one over grown baby when you come down to it. She wanted everything to be about her and no one else. If someone was in the spotlight when she was about, she would shove past to take the glory of attentions. That was how she was, she was the star, no one else. It was all about her and that was how she liked it...*

Uwoduhi'Suli was taken aback by the tartness of the small soquili. Her temper could rival her father's when he was in a mood, and her noise was just staggering! Quiet little Uwoduhi'Suli could hardly believe so much noise could come from one little being! And her rudeness! Had 'Suli not just helped her out of the brambles? Couldn't she be a little more polite? Deciding arguments would get them nowhere, 'Suli carefully stepped around the other and pushed back more of a path for her to get through, through to the clearing she had just been in.
"Equa!" 'Suli sighed. Just what she needed, a stroppy, foal like creature to look after! "Where d'ye come from unalii? Mayhap Ah can help ye back? Direct ye? Asehi?" Uwoduhi'Suli looked around, trying to figure out where the little soquili could wash. "Ah'm afraid, usdi sawu, that there is no water roun' 'ere! River down way, bu' that's quite a long walk for one so small!" She smiled kindly at the little soquili, before using her wing to indicate the way of the river. It really was quite a trek through the tree trunks, but 'Suli didn't think that the little soquili would be overly impressed at being told a roll in the grass here would remove most of the debris, so she kept quiet on that subject.
"Your colours are mos' intriguin'! What be your name, usdi sawu?"

*She just looked at the wind, raising a brow a little at its reaction toward her. Was it that surprised that she could talk? Couldn't all soquili talk after birth? Shaking her head, Lickety-Split turned a little toward the larger wind eying it's reddish coat and everything about it... It didn't look that strange, she wondered why it had eyed her strangely as if never seeing a pony before. Though this talk of a long walk to a river didn't seem to phase her one bit. It wasn't like she hadn't walked further...*
"Why should I tell you? not like I want to go back to them lazy feather heads!" She snorted stepping into the clearing she had been led to, her head turning toward the direction that the wind had pointed in, the river couldn't have been that far... Though they way this one had said it, made her puff out a little to look bigger then she was. "I can walk it, I've walked further then what you think is long. Home or what was home is further then you could ever think." She huffed. "But I suppose I could tell you my name, it's Lickety-Split. Should I ask yours? Feather-head?"
*'Feather-head' her favorite nickname for those with wings. They always seemed to gloat about how their wings could do many things. Namely the boys that lived their the human, a human she rarely saw for some reason... That didn't bother her too much anyways, humans weren't helpful besides with the grooming. Turning toward the direction that was supposed to be water she took two steps before looking back at the wind, as if wondering if it was coming as well. More the likely not, it wasn't like Lickety couldn't find a river on her own...*

Uwoduhi'Suli was a little startled at the looked passed over her by the smaller, and her eyes widened a little in shock. Huffing gently, 'Suli backed away from the smaller soquili. She couldn't understand why the other was being so abrupt with her! Had she not been anything but friendly? She only wanted to help, as was her nature. It seemed sad that this little foal like soquili seemed so sad in a way. She seemed lonely to 'Suli, though she daren't voice her opinion.
"Ah was jus' tryin' te help ye, usdi sawu!" Her gentle voice was a little strained, and she turned her face away slightly at the slightly insulting nickname that the small soquili called her. "Me name's Uwoduhi'Suli. Me frien's call me 'Suli though..." She narrowed her eyes at the smaller. "An' Ah ne'er said that ye couldn' walk that far! I jus' stated that it was a long way!" Uwoduhi'Suli frowned and lowered her head, staring at the grass at her hooves, she scuffed at the ground.
"Well, Lickety-Split, I woul' have said pleased te meet ye, bu' all ye seem to want te do is insult me! If ye don' want me help, ye don' have te take it! Ah was jus' tryin' te be frien'ly!"

*Lickety-Split didn't really know the concept of friendship, or kindness. It was either her way or the.. Well.. Highway sorta speak. Looking back at the taller mare, tilting her head to the side as again it's speech was more then a jumble of words that she barely put together. Turning around, she puffed herself up to look bigger then she really was, though her mentality wasn't very... Appealing.*
"It sure sounded like you were, Suli" Lickety muttered with a lazy glare as if she didn't have the time to even glare at all. "I just want to get this muck off, it's annoying." She ends up whining shaking her head sending a flurry of small leaves from her mane
*When she stopped again, she glared at the ground and stomped a hoof not liking this 'dirty' feeling. Like something a Kalona dragged through the forest, in a way she figured it did look like that happened. Looking back up at the taller mare. she was silent, wondering if this one was going to show her to the river or now.*
"If the river is too far, then is there a stream near by, that isn't as far as the river?" she asked more 'calmly' then before, though it was a strained effort.

Uwoduhi'Suli nodded slowly, knowing how annoying it was to be dirty, but she still couldn't forget the insults. It was her first taste of discourteous behaviour in another, as her parents had not taught her of the discrimination some soquili could exhibit, so she had been wholy surprised by the other's reaction. Thinking for a moment, 'Suli nodded and motioned with a wing in a northward direction.
"There is a stream in tha' direction." She commented, focusing her thoughts to make sure she was correct. "Ah'll lead ye." She smiled softly a took a few steps before looking back at the little soquili, mismatched eyes slightly narrowed. "Tha' is, if'n ye still wan' me help." She started to walk off toward the direction of the stream. "So where d'ye come from 'Split? Ye are the firs' o'ye kind Ah've ever seen."

"Lead on." Lickety offered, if she had a hand she would have made the gesture, as it was she had to speak.
*Watching the larger winged soquili she had to admire the wings, even if she did live with two who were always fussing over their feathers not being clean or some other thing. Though she had never seen a female with wings before... Well actually that wasn't try, one of those that she lived with had his mate about the camp, she was too 'motherly' for her likings, Adelle was a kind soul yes, but too kind at times.*
"I come from a long distance from here. Closer to the mountains you could say." Lickety answered though a bit rattled by being called, 'Split'. "And you can call me Lickety, everyone else seems to." She huffed at the thought of another stallion, one her size, but with a larger mouth. "You've never met one of my kind?" she muttered a little baffled, but her eyes only narrowed a bit. "I've heard there aren't many of my kind around these parts. Only small pockets here and there." She offered up an excuse, in truth, Lickety only knew of a few of her kind, most she wouldn't be caught dead around.
"In truth, I rarely stumble into the larger kind, like yourself. Only the ones that happen to live around a human's camp. Though one of them is off making a family of his own." She half smiled at the thought of Andy getting together with a grounded, unable to fly with her through the skies he loved, but everything was tossed a side as her mask reappeared upon her face as she awaited to be lead to the stream.*
