Shade traveled slowly through an open field, it was odd to see her out of her shadowy forest home but this day she was delighting in her travels. The world was growing colder as the icey fingers of winter drew close on the land. The thought of the icey death winter wraught practically made NightShade giddy and more than once had made her giggle like a love struck schoolgirl.

Nobody was really sure if shade was 'all there' or not and the insane smile that was spread on her muzzle gave the impression that she wasn't indeed.

The light jingle from the chain connecting the twin tines that protruded from her forehead was her only companion at the moment and she was fine with that.

Shade's ears flicked side to side as she traveled until the sound of another's movements made her pause. She slowly turned her head and saw what she thought was a kalona with his wings folded down. She flicked her tail and moved towards him, her four horns gleamed like daggers in the sunlight with the tips stained red from uncountable killings.

She froze when she saw he had no wings, was this a half-breed, or something else entirely? Shade knew she should have tried to kill him for just being alive as most kalona would have done but the fact that his scent was so strongly kalona that she couldn't help but slide closer to get a better view of this odd stallion.

"What ARE you? You smell like a pure-breed kalona... you have the horns ...the tai, and the hooves but not the wings" she'd always been told curiosity killed the cat but had never listened.

"interesting ...very interesting, I've seen half-breeds but not mutants." the word mutant wasn't meant to be bad, she was just overly curious. But his next words brought an angered frown to her lips and her eyes narrowed, "don't bunch me in with the rest of my breed, yes I kill, yes I eat meat but I travel among lessers and have lesser friends I'm far from being considered a 'true kalona' in my own right." She hissed softly,it was actually an insult for Shade to be considered a flat out kalona as she hated most every being that called itself a pure untainted one.

But Shade was flat out crazy, and if you didn't have her good favor you were just as likely to die by her hooves as by any other kalona.

She snorted softly "Physically I am a true kalona, but on every other level apparently I'm not because I don't stay true to my blood as others see it, I'm to kind and I do slink through the shadows grumbling about the 'lesser problem' like true kalonas." She shrugged then suddenly laughed, it was a sound that was blood curdling. Shade was mentally unstable and it showed most of the time and was beginning to now.

Her mouth curled upwards in a twisted and malicious smile, "doesn't make me any less cruel though to those who don't win my good favor."

Shade laughed cruelly, "Lets see how I can explain this... kalonas are superior to all breeds. The ones that consider themselves to be the purest of blood, or untainted by lesser blood and by unneeded emotions, stalk the shadows and care nothing to associate with lesser breeds. I'm not like that, I've rarely attacked a lesser, the only time I attack is when you anger me or I'm hungry to the point of being crazed."

She sneered as he moved closer and lifted her upper lip in a crazy smile, that was meant to warn him that she would still attack if he made the wrong move. Her pearly dagger like fangs gleamed dangerously as did the horns that adorned her small head.

Shade started to laugh, she loved that fact that he was so utterly confused by all this it proved that he was so tainted by lesser blood. "You'll understand when you meet another kalona and they try to rip your jugular out for no other reason than the fact that you stumbled upon their path."

She grinned again her lips curling in a cruel smile, he was at least brave... stupid as well ... but brave. "NightShade," that was the only answer she gave him to his question.
