The evening sky was something Freya saw very rarely, if only for her habit of falling asleep before it came time for most of the savanna to fall asleep, only to wake up under the night sky, long before the sun rose. So for one of those days she'd kept herself up, she was rather awake, standing out in the long grass and looking up at the sky.
There was something more enchanting about the night-sky than there was about watching the sun come up. It was a sort of, sense of finality to the day, perhaps. Though Freya couldn't help but muse to herself what it was her mother had told her about things ending.
Yes.. her mother....
Almost comically, to ruin the otherwise peaceful looking scene, Freya suddenly bursted out into laughter, collapsing into the grass for a moment, before she popped right back up, full of energy.
Sitting back, she surveyed the scene for a bit, looking to the tree she'd likely climb into later and fall asleep in, then at the long stretch of rather empty-scenery with a few trees dotted place to place. Which, after she counted the grand total of three trees in the immediate area, she came to one conclusion:
"Nothing to do around here..."

Golden eyes watched a similar sunset, he had seen it so many times he wasn't that impressed any more, sure it was pretty but it didn't make the world any more exciteing. Long strong legs padded through the whispy grass silently his shoulders and gently slopeing back above the line of the exceccively long grass. Afiya had always been a very large cheetah, from birth he had been a big cub and now at his adolecent stage he was nearlly the size of a leopard never mind a cheetah. His shoulders thick set, though he still maintained the whippy look of his ancestors, he was certainly larger than your average cheetah.
His mother constantly told him it was because he was decended from a line of king cheetahs. He liked the idea though he knew full well that she meant his markings not status.
Watching the final glint of the sun as it touched the faar away sands to vanish for the night his bright eyes caught on a shadow. Lifting his nose he took a breath and scented the female cheetah. With an all too cocky grin the young tan, king marked male padded towards her, his head high, his tail tilted in a jaunty manner. "watchin' the sunset?" He asked quite simply, his voice full of roguish confidence. He was after all still young and foolish, he was allowed to say hi without any inhabitions as to whom he might be speaking to.

The sound of a rather young-ish, but masculine sounding voice caught Freya's ears and she turned her head to look towards whom was speaking opening her mouth to speak one name, that was all too familiar to her lips from current meeting, before stopping herself to stare down the adolescent with her golden eyes. No. This one wasn't Makani. They looked similar to an extent, but this one was lighter in coat.
Still not bad on the eyes, however. Just a bit on the young side. Oh well, young wasn't bad at all, she just had to hope she wouldn't get assaulted by a mother or have another.... she mentally shuddered at the thought... little 'prince romance' moment with this boy.
Then again, she'd imagine the Cheetah youth to be different from the youth of the lions.
Shrugging her shoulders in a sort of light manner so one of them sort of brushed against her cheek before she tilted her head over one shoulder to look at Afiya, she gave him a sort of innocent look, as was her technique with conversation, before replying to the inquiry that had been made, "I'd guess so. The sky is much prettier than the sun, though. I like the colors." she said with a sort of 'ho hum' tone to her voice, before she lifted both eyebrows and turned her head to look towards the sky again. "Wouldn't you agree? It's almost as though the sun is painting the sky like a canvas. Gold, red, purple." Again, Freya smiled to herself. "It's rather lovely."

Eyes of hunny looked out on to the 'canvas' she spoke of, he didn't see it, tilting his head a little to squint at the sky the golden male gave a simillar shrug. "I hate to sound completely barbaric, but it just looks like a sunset to me, they happen every day." He raised a pale brow and looked Freya over before standing up straight. He far from wanted the female to thinkl he was little, he was an adolecent and although there was still fluff at the nape of his neck stateing that he was indeed still a youngster, he considred himself near enough an adult and old enough to be treated thusly.
"Names Afiya, you look old enough to have seen a fair few sunsets." He paused and cleared his throat, realising quietly he had just put his proverbial foot in it. "I mean, you don't look old, you're just older than me." He stumbled over his words shaking his golden head to clear the foolish thoughts away, he was usually so much cockier than this. What was it about girls that made him trip over his tongue?
"You live round here? Or you new? I'v never seen you around these parts, I usually wander this way once every couple of weeks or so. My ma says I have itchy feet." He chuckles, his yellow eyes shimmering with the golden lights of the sky ahead, reflecting the beauty of the savannahs sunset.

Coughing one and blinking several times to try and sort and see if this 'Afiya' had said what she -thought- he had just said, Freya took a moment to think and sigh a bit, allowing his rather stumbled apology to pass as 'acceptable', as she had to remind herself that this young one probably didn't think before he'd spoken.
"One can 'see' anything they want when their eyes are open, Afiya." she said in a sort of wise manner, mentally wondering if that's what made her seem old, before she went on and continued with her thought, "But you need to open your mind to metaphors, possibilities, and out-of-the-box thoughts to actually see something for what it is and appreciate it." Freya shifted her weight a bit and laughed. Yep, she sounded old to herself. Perhaps she could blame that on her mother as well. "I wouldn't expect you to see the same sunset I'm seeing right now, so you can't appreciate it at my value for it."
Freya then rose to her feet, stretching her limbs out, despite having just sat down a few minute prior. "But there's nothing wrong with that." Then, with an awkward moment of realization, she added, "and because I forgot to answer your own introduction, due to other thoughts spilling out first, My name is Freya and to answer your question, yes. This isn't a normal place for me to be. I wander as my heart pleases me, seeing as there isn't any place I have to be at any time. Landing in places by coincidence is much more..." She took a moment to think of a good adjective, "exciting, adventurous, rooommaannntic~" she emphasized that last word. She liked romance. She liked it a lot. It amongst other things.

"Freya huh, nice name, Guess that means you have the old itchy feet too huh?" He grinned in a roguish rather handsome manner and padded up beside her his tail flickering up high, he liked to walk tlike this he felt it made him look bigger, at leats it made him look more confident. Not that the golden malke had ever had any problems in the confidence department his mother had fille dhis head from cub hood with stories of cheetahs triumphing over everything. He personally felt he could do anything if he needed to.
Looking out at the sunset once again he let those honey glazed orbs take in what she was looking at. He didn't understand these sorts of things,m they were the sorts of things his mother spoke of in her stories, the beauty of the sunset, appreciate every day and all that. He never did quite understand it. Tilting his head to look at Freya once again a cheeky grin rose on his lips. "I'll say one thing you look very beautiful in this light." He winked and gave a low chuckle. "See I can occassionally see the beauty in things, it's just not always the scenery." He puurred his tongue lapping out over his tan lips.
"I guess it is sort of a romantic thing to look at, it certainly makes ladies glow." He smiled weakly trying to make up for the fact that he had called her old. In the golden reds of the sunset she seemed far from old, she seemed young and carefree, he supposed that was what she was, able to wander the world as she pleased. He only partially had that, he had a deep connection with is family and he always returned to the little copse of trees where she lived with her mate, someone that wasn't his father but that he could certainly aggree with. That male made his mother happy.
Nothing would ever stop him from his weekly wanderings though. "Myself I usually live about half a dsys walkin' in that direction, a few of us cheetahs live together there, kinda in a pride, just for cheetahs." He grinned again, he always seemed to be telling people of the coalition lands, even though he didn't mean to. "I like to come out and see the world before going home, you have a place you call home Freya? You see beauty in the sunset, you must have a place you rest your paws. My ma always says if you have a home everything is beautiful. She's kinda poetic is my ma." he rolls his eyes, it seemed he also mentioned his mother alot in conversation, he had to stop doing that, he sounded like a momas boy he was sure!

Oooh, and now the flirt-card had been played. Possibly one of the more 'dangerous' cards to play with the lady and master of flirting. She was trained in the art, afterall. In fact, she'd already laid down a 'base' card for the entire building of said art. She was sneaky like that. "Well, beauty is rarely scene in only one place." Freya replied casually, then lifted her own paws to look at them, giving herself a moment of deep thought, before setting the golden-furred limb down again. "Itchy feet? Not quite. I'd call them more of....." Again, she sought out a good adjective for what she'd call such a thing, "Dream-walking feet. Not being tied down is a nice feeling. I have everything out in front of me and every possibility I could ever wish for to go and follow on whatever whim I'd like."
Freya sort of sidled over to the golden-brown boy's side for effect, "But there are downsides to such a thing. One can see beauty in everything, when one has and doesn't fully desire to have much of anything. Friends, some, family, none to my name, and no place to truly call my 'home'. "
After she gave this thought, she again snuck away to go stand in the grass. "I'd say you have more freedom than me. That's what having a place to return to gives. Otherwise one is just restless, wandering forever. Like me. I have nothing tying me down."

The sandy coloured male couldn't help but feel privalaged as the older female siddled up beside him, it gave him a feeling of ever flowing confidence, he of course already knew he was a strapping looking chetah, but to have it confirmed by even the slightest glance or a nudge always made him grin. At least that was always what he assumed these looks meant, he never interpreted them any differently.
"Even dreamers have a place to call home, a dream land they can call their own, a happy place perhaps?" He gave a single laugh and shook his head his tufty flock of fur flickering off his ears. "Home and family is one thing I can brag about." smiling gently he watched the older femme with admireing eyes, he couldn't help but stare at females, he was far from borish, his mother had taught him to always be a gentleman to the ladies, she would probably scalp him if he did any different, but sometimes the females he met made him stare longingly, he was a young male after all, and he knew how to treat a lady right, if they would only let him.
Clearting his throat to shake away the ideas which floated aorund in that youthful mind he sighed lightly. "Yes, a freedom of sorts but I'll always be tied to my home, not that i can complain, at least I have a family to return to no matter what." He grinned sheepishly, barely had he met this femme yet he seemed to be telling her all of his history, like she wanted to know.
"would you ever wish for a family?" he coughed lightly. "uh I mean you know, a place to call home I mean?" he raised a brow, covering his slight slip of the tongue.

"Yes, you may be tied here. But if you were to leave, wouldn't it put your mind at ease to know that you had a place you could come back to when the mind became weary?" she asked, looking back at him over one shoulder, the questions almost turning into verbally-tennis, each asking a question to a question, to a statement, to an answer, or something of that sort.
"Then again, having a home isn't what makes a dreamer, since all that's needed for that is to have a dream. That is what makes a home, despite the distance of time and space.." almost wistfully, she looked off, away from the sun, as if she could see across a great space, something nobody else could see, would see.
The clearing of his throat got Freya's attention away from her lala land and back to look at Afiya with a sort of curious expression. "A family?" she repeated first, not really missing the notion, since to her, it wasn't implying any deeper thought, not that she hadn't considered children before. It was just her own reasons (AKA getting fat..) that prevented such. "I guess so. Moreso than a family of my, I'd like to see my brothers again. Wherever it was they went off to." she sighed a bit, allowing the sad thought to escape before jolting back to reality and shaking her head. She had -not- just admitted that. "But a place to call home isn't really on my agenda. Before I can have a home, I have to feed my wandering heart and put it to rest. " with an amused laugh following this, she looked to the male again.
"Might I add, it's quite the task."

Wandering heart, he had one of those too but he knew he could never truely leave his home. "You have brothers?" He raised a sceptical brow, Freya was uickly turning in to a female whom needed noone. he fainly remembered his motehr telling him of a time before she came to the coalition, before they were born. His mother had survived alone without anyone. Pehraps she had had a wandering heart too before she became the matriarch of the family he knew.
"I have four brothers now and two sisters. well two of them are half brothers and my sisters are half sisters too but they are still my family, I guess in a sentimental way I couldn't live without them, they are what makes home. Still I enjoy a good wander and good company to wander with." He smiled then and spoke quietly. "Would you object to a young rogue following you on your joruney for a few days? I usually try to get out for a week or so and I could use the company and it's easier to hunt in pairs than alone." He gave her a roguish grin, he quite fancied this older lady, a few days with her learning her world, he could enjoy that greatly. Plus he always liked to travel in company.
He often dragged one of his brothers with him on these little adventures, but he had been unable to find either of them when his own wandering heart had pulled him on to the savannah so had been forced to travel alone this time. Maybe he could convince Freya to have some company for a few days though? It never hurt to try.

Freya tilted her head to one side to consider the boy's proposal, pondering if she could actually afford to have a tag-along again. The last one had been an interesting episode, to say the least, but it hadn't been happy when they'd gotten attached to her. It was hard to shake off someone who was attached to you, she'd learned from that lesson.
"Siblings are nice, until they vanish on you..." it was a sort of implied statement as to what had happened to her brothers, which in deeper implied her wandering spirit. Not that she'd flat-out tell anybody of this. Then she coughed and shook her head a bit, shrugging her shoulders.
"I dunno if you'd like tagging along with me, Afiya. I tend to get up and go whenever I want, forgetting who I have around me. You'll find I'm irresponsible when it comes to others." she explained, lifting a paw to do a rather humanesque 'ho hum' motion with it.
She allowed this to sink in for a bit before she got up and started to trot along. "But if you think can handle it, I'll allow it for a couple of days, but further than that, I won't hesitate to sneak off when you've outlasted a welcome, you got that?" she asked, looking at him over her shoulder, as if wondering why he wasn't up and ready to go RIGHT THEN.
Afterall, Freya was ready to head off.

Chuckling lightly the golden king marked male raised a brow at her and gave a nod. "If I'm away more than a week or so my ma starts wo wonder where I am any way." He lets a grin play on his maw following her silently his large shoulders ploughing him throught he brittle grass with ease.
Golden eyed searched her body language for anything he could read, he never was very good at reading women, they were the worlds biggest mystery to him, Freya, was a closed book though things kept slipping over those pretty lips. Perhaps a few days with her would let him know her mind. He liked to know people, it was as if he was supposed to know their inner workings so he could see them for what they were.
"So, tell me about your brothers?" He raised a brow, he enjoyed speaking of family, it was something he knew about. "I was born with two, ma always called us the terrible trins." He grins cheekily."We used ta get up to some stuff when we wee cubs." His golden eyes glimmered and he laughed. "Tis childish stuff but ya know what it's like when you're a cub with your sibs?" stepping a little more swiftly through the grass he padded up beside her with his tail flickering high over his back curling over his spine so he looked kind of like a large content, rather cocky housecat.

Freya walked along at her own pace, not altering it in any assistance for help Afiya keep up, In fact, she almost silenced herself altogether when he asked about her brother, looking at him with her golden eyes for a moment, before she shook her head briskly. "They were brothers. They do what brother's do, pick on their sisters and play pranks on each other. Not much else to say about them." she shrugged lightly, not really eluding much more to the design of her family.
No 'older' or 'younger' or 'me and my sisters' or even a mention about the parental structure either. It was a topic she didn't enjoy talking about. "They really aren't worth talking about, to say the least."
After a bit of walking, she stopped in place to pace back and forth for a moment, before looking up at the sky as it darkened, eyes half-lidded in a hint of desire to sleep out in the grass, but another part of her wasn't exactly ready to settle down now that her nerves had been stirred up by the mention of the terrible trio.
"But enough about my brothers. There isn't much else I could tell you of them before it got dark... and once it gets dark you'll lose my color in the rest of the scenery..." she said, settling down into the grass impatiently and settling her head on her paws.
She should have been sleeping anyways, but still...

Twitching his ears slightly he fully realised he had touched on a subject she simply wasn't interesting in speaking about. His tail flickered back to it's normal cheetah stance, out behind him like a rudder. He followed easily enough his eyes on where they were going, wondering faintly wheer this bronzed female would lead him on their little journey together.
He gave a shrug as she mentioned that her family wern't worth speaking about, he thought it a strange thing to say, but he didn't mention that, the road was ahead of them so to speak although it was certainly darkening before him.
Gold met gold and he gave a nod as she curled up in to the soft brittle grass. With a long, pink mouthed yawn the golden male settled near to her though far enough away that he wouldn't touch her while she slept. After all this was not his mother or one of his brothers he was travelling with, intrueding upon personal boundries was just asking for a clip around the ears. Stretching out his long slender body he lay with his head on his paws watching the stars appear one at a time.
"you know, my ma told me a tale of lions once, she said, 'the kings look down on us from those stars'. I hope there aint no lions watchin us, I don't fancy fightin a lion, tis kinda too late at night to be mussin up me paws." He winked once again, he was at least trying to make the pretty female like him, perhaps even make her laugh at at least one of his overly corny jokes.

Freya couldn't help but laugh at the joke that was cracked at the expense of the stars, actually wondering for a moment if there -was- a bunch of dead lions looking down at them. She lifted her head to look up at the stars for a moment, before she shook her head and laughed again. "I'd hope not. Lions aren't really worth the time to beat back into their places, eh?" she asked, looking at Afiya, before settling her head down again, and heaving a bit of a sigh.
It was too funny to ignore that thought, though. She was able to surpress laughing anymore at the expense of the dead, however.
"Think it's only the dead kings, or just the dead in general? Just shining down to watch on their loved ones as they sleep?" It was sort of a vague question, but it was a thought that Freya couldn't help but let slip, before an 'oops', a quiet one, followed after it and she covered up her mouth with her paws, curling up a bit, despite how warm the night was.
Wasn't always warm at night, though. It could get colder as it went, and she didn't want to wake up from any cold. She didn't like the cold.
Freya shook her head after that, however, and looked to Afiya, smiling a bit. "Anyways, I'm going to try and rest up a bit. I-... We have all of tomorrow to explore about, and there will be no nap-time in the day, so you better rest up as well. Might end up leavin' ya behind if you nod off for too long when I'm up." she warned before settling down for a third time.
It would be hard to sleep with such a worried mind.
