Shouko set out the last of the pumpkins and patted Mort on the shoulder. With some luck, a new guardian for the little boy would turn up in the course of the festivities. The little boy adjusted the round glasses that went with his John Lennon costume and smiled up at her. Shouko, dressed as a butterfly complete with gossamer wings, proudly surveyed her handiwork.

It was already getting darker and the little tea-light boats she and Mort had released onto the pond glittered orange. Pumkins glimmered with grotesque and hysterical faces. Fake bats and cobwebs hung from the trees.

"We did good," she stated, and leaned against the wall to wait for guests.

A vaguely human woman, a centaur, and a small child appeared around the side of the building, each in costume. (The first as a certain distinctively-coiffured heroine, the second as a cowboy, the third as a vampire.) The child was making a strong attempt to escape his mother's arms and dash across the soft lawn, but Eshaa managed to hang onto him long enough to get him over to say hi to Shouko and the orange-haired boy.

"Hi!" she chimed. "You remember Nahuel, right?"

The little boy showed his teeth and made a growly sound.

"And this is Wystan," she said, motioning to the cowboy.

Charity and Alexis appeared slowly around the edge of the building. It was obvious right from the start that the dark-haired girl (who was in costume as a Victorian-era nurse) didn't have too much control over the white-haired boy (who happened to be dressed as a lion, with little bits of gold embroidery thread in his curly hair). She watched him run a little bit ahead, then he'd stop and turn to look back at her, at which point she'd catch up and repeat the exercise.

"Mu," he said, looking back from a few feet away from Shouko. Rowan was slow to follow the pair to stand near the other people, and he frowned in a stand-offish fashion at the rest of the group. He was uncostumed, which made him stand out a little from the rest of the group.

"Hello." The man crossed his arms. "I don't know if we've met, but is one of you Shouko?"

Alexis took this opportunity to pick a wilting blade of grass and offer it to Nahuel.

Teagan had argued with himself for a good week after receiving an invitation to the Halloween party. He was worried about who all would be there, especially since he hadn't seen any of the Edens in a while. Finally Ul convinced him to go, even offering to buy him a costume. He had settled on a western themed gunslinger, adorned in rough dark wash jeans with silver air-soft guns, black boots, and a floor length black duster. There had been a buttoned shirt with the outfit, but it had bothered him to the point that he had simply taken it off and gone barechested.

He was surprised to find that Shouko seemed to be at the heart of the operation, along with his cousin Mort. He felt a his cheeks heating up, but quickly hid it with a flip of his hair. "Shouko?" he asked as he stepped toward her, though it couldn't have been anyone one else.

When Loki left her shop for the evening, she was surprised by a small vampire and a powerpuff girl, who wanted to know if Kirra's pot contained any candy, and ooohed in fascination when the Eden leaf wiggled at them. Loki had forgotten about Halloween.

Kirra seemed pleased with the attention, so Loki decided they should both have some fun. She ducked into one of the nearby shops, and a short while later had outfitted herself with a large black witch's hat, a cloak, and two plastic cauldrons – one to fill with foil-wrapped chocolate spiders, bats and frogs, and the other to hold Kirra's pot. Kirra was delighted with her 'costume', and swayed around as much as she could within the confines of the cauldron.

They paused in a doorway to make some final costume adjustments, when suddenly Kirra began to struggle as if she would pull herself right out of the soil, giving off a powerful sense of excitement. Loki looked around, confused. Just across the street, a shop sign caught her eye – 'Eden Project'.

"Okay, okay, I can take a hint," she told the leaf, who managed to exude leafy satisfaction. They headed over, Loki nervous, Kirra jubilant.

"Um. Hello?" Loki called to the costumed people in the garden. "Can we come in?"

Zanen anxiously fiddled with the fake fangs in her vampire costume, while simultaneously trying to balance on the two high-heeled monstrosities on her feet. Swathes of black, velvety fabric fell to her ankles, and if Zanen hadn't increased her height with her shoes, the dress would have created a dark pool at her feet. She shivered as the wind left goosebumps on her arms, and huddled deeper into the voluminous cape that came with her costume. Finally seeing the entrance to her destination: "The Eden Project," she smiled softly.

There were people congregating around the building already! Zanen shyly walked forward, struggling not to trip over her own two feet and attempting to balance on her ridiculous costume's shoes.

"Ah--hello!" she squeaked, her voice tossed away by the wind's icy sting. Zanen blushed, her pale cheeks tinted with a pale rosy hue. She straightened her posture like her mother told her to do when she wanted to appear more presentable. Taming the butterflies threatening to spill out of her stomach, she calmed her wavering voice, and delivered her greetings once again--louder this time.

Shouko was overtaken by a crowd of guests. Yes, so, that was um... Three parents, one guest and -- Teagan. Oh em gee Teagan. It was so nice to see a familiar face.

"OfcourseIrememberhiyaNahuel" -were those spots? Was he a Jaguar?- "That'dbemeHitherearen'tyoucute" - another flower, and a gloomy one at that - "HiLokihowniceofyoutocome" - she remembered dropping off that flower pot - "Hi!NicetomeetyouI'mShouko, andyouare?"

But now that the pleasantries were through with, she turned to her old friend. Who was... not wearing a shirt. "Hey, Tea," she laughed, "I was so sure there was a dress code on the invitations." She paused, smirking for a moment, before hugging him. "HowareyouIhaven'tseenyouinforeverwhat'sup?"

Tea blushed a bit at what he assumed to be a joke. "Sorry, my shirt was bugging me," he explained, crossing his arms over his chest. "I've been better, the gym shut down and I haven't really found anywhere else." He considered mentioning his new habits, but thought better of it and shut his mouth. "What about you? I haven't seen you in a while."

The little vampire blinked at the lion-attired boy and took the piece of grass. He sniffed it, gave it a hesitant nibble, and spat it out.

"Yucky," he proclaimed. Patting his chest, he stated, "Nahuel!"

Eshaa, who really hoped her son would get over his talking-like-Tarzan stage soon, glanced down at the boy and gave him a nudge. "Play nice," she reminded him.

"Kay!" exclaimed Nahuel, and ripped up a few shreds of grass.

Eshaa smiled over at the dark haired man. "Hi, I'm Eshaa," she said, pointedly introducing herself. "Is the blond boy yours?"

((Hope it's okay if I join in, even though I'm really late ^^))

Lisi didn't want to go to the Halloween party at Eden Project. It's not that she didn't like the people there, it's just that she didn't *know* any of them. Social situations in general make her feel nauseous, but parties with unfamiliar people in an unfamiliar place? She avoided them like the plague.

Still...Caprice needed to get out there and meet children her own age. And what better playmates than other Edens? They would understand her better than normal children. There were no "The Little Mermaid" costumes left in the store, so Reese had to be content with a generic mermaid costume made out of shimmery blue cloth.

Caprice loved shiny things, so Lisi had painted scales on her cheeks with shiny blue face paint. To make her outfit complete, Reese had insisted on wearing the shiny blue cloth that had come with a gift from Elda; Lisi tied in it her hair and they were off.

Lisi slinked into the building, trying to look invisible - goodness, these events made her uncomfortable - but Caprice felt right at home, and darted right to the first familiar face she saw. Nahuel was there, along with another boy she didn't recognize. But they were all the same age, so that automatically made them friend material to Reese.

"Heya!" she announced herself proudly, a wide grin splitting across her face.

"Lexi," Alexis said, that being all he understood of his name. Charity smiled proudly several feet behind him, as if this were a great accomplishment. "Hi." He looked over his shoulder at his mother and then smiled confidently. This was okay!
