Well I've seen Yentil and am planning on reading The Diary of Anne Frank... does anyone know of any other good Jewish literature?

Are we sticking to mostly European Jews? or would you like American Jews and Middleastern Jews?

BTW Diary of Anne Frank is not fiction.

The Diary of Anne Frank is classified as fiction. Anne purposefully changed a few details of her diary, and her father left out other details, in order to protect the identities of two of the people who helped to hide the Frank family and their fellow Jews in hiding. Just like Laura Ingalls Wilder's books, she combined two people into one persona/character for the book, here and there. The feelings and the historical details are real, absolutely, but because both writers edited reality slightly in order to protect identities (in Anne's case) or to enhance the stories (in Laura's case), both are classified as fiction.

I'm sure you already know from Fiddler on the Roof. Have you yet spotted A Stranger Among Us with Melanie Griffith? That was a truly fantastic movie, and very respectful of Chasidic culture and practice -- unlike A Price Above Rubies, which was flat-out offensive in a great many ways.

Ooh, yes, I liked both Fiddler and Stranger - they were good! Never heard of Rubies though... now I know not to watch it, thanks smile

I think I have a lot more books to read; thanks for the recommendations! smile
