This thread is a spin-off from Becca's "Astrology Stories!" post.

I liked where Becca's thread was going, but I also wanted to know how people related to the movement of the planets. How does Mercury's frequent retrograde trips effect you? Has there ever been a report that actually did what it said it would do? Or just the opposite?

I'll give my story, since it's oh so very recent, and kind of creepy (and maybe to clarify what I'm babbling about.)

In the early months of this year, I had been invited by a couple of friends to help with some filming projects they had to do for their college courses. There I met my future boyfriend (now ex, to be explained.) For months we worked together and got along well (He's a Libra, I never got his info to do research), and finally, around late July/early August, he asked me out.

Now, it had been nearly 4 years since I've "dated" and the prospect freaked me out a little. I asked him to give me time to think about it. As I thought, I read my usual astrology report by Baron Samadhi (You're living under a rock if you haven't heard me mention him. Or completely avoiding my posts) and in his new blog, he had been talking about Venus going into a funk and to wait on major decisions until September 7th.

I had given him that date, which he respected but also thought was odd. However, after much thinking, I decided to go against it. So I said yes. Around this time, my computer died and I had not been reading my reports. Time goes on and we're both happy. Until the end of the month. He starts acting weird and impatient and unenthusiastic around me. Come mid-September, he stops talking to me altogether. Then, in late September, all connections are severed when he moved away without a word.

I'm not here to whine about my boy problems: What happened actually went in accord to what the reports had warned.

Later August: Venus in retrograde, Saturn in Virgo - some iffiness. Spouts of Depression. This is when our relationship gets awkward.

Early September: Saturn moves in Libra: Mentions it's a good time to bring up issues in relationship. This week, my boyfriend just says he's been busy and we'd get together later.

A little later: Week of the eclipse: Mars in Gemini: Am told reality will set in and will change perspective views on people. That very week, I couldn't help but notice he wouldn't even look at me during our weekend together out of town with our friends. No communication between us happened whatsoever.

End of September: Mars in Cancer, the "Falling" or "Depression" point. After the last couple weeks of avoiding me, he finally ditches town, not telling me or our friends (the ones who introduced us.)

It's been a couple weeks, and everything is starting to become okay. I haven't spoken to him. I want to, in order to make amends and stay friends (I hate leaving off things on a bad note), I'm waiting until Mercury, Mars, and Venus leave their crappy positions, because I'm not risking it.

Call me silly, but I've never had a report that explained my situation so well (sorry for my bad descriptions. I was trying to get to the point.) I know it's not really meant to be predictive, and more on the emotions that will happen and how you can take control. But I didn't take control, and the planetary energies sucked me in.

Anyone ever have that? Share, share, share.

My mom's horoscope a couple years ago said that she would experience difficulty with technology that day (she's an aries). It was literally almost midnight & she was happy that she proved her horoscope wrong until me & my friend needed my printer. We tried to print but nothing was coming out. So just being the silly, stupid, young teens that we were we clicked the "Print" button repeatedly till it started to work. We were happy that it did, until it started printing it over & over & over again. My mom was the only one who knew how to fix it. So here is a bunch of pictures coming out & we had no idea to stop it. Printer ink is also VERY expensive. When my mom finally came over, she sighed & said that she almost made it. neutral
My friend & I felt really bad that we were the cause in proving her horoscope right. sweatdrop

Ah, the power of suggestion.

Honestly people, astrology isn't magic, it can't tell the future. It's a legitimate science not fortune-telling.

It's not really a legitimate science. I'm not saying that to invalidate or dismiss it; I believe it works (or I wouldn't be here). But it's (at the moment) a pseudoscience. It hasn't got the experimental work and extensive controlled testing of hypotheses behind it that it would need for it to be a science.

Sorry! Didn't mean to confuse anyone, just liked this hair style/colour. But absolutely a fair enough mistake to have made - that kind of thing has happened to me too, even on forums without little character avatars, for some reason...

I'd also like to say that some of the posts in this guild can be pretty vague and generalized. I'm just adding into the fun. Astrology can be used in "predictive" manners, definitely not to the specifics, but the pure coincidence of it made me wonder if anyone had similar experiences. Thats all.

Actually professional astrologers do take it on as a science. By, experimenting and such. coughpsychologycough, anyway...

And, as far as predictions... the most you could predict is that someone will say or do something based on their personality, not if they'll recive a mysterious letter from their secret admirer. For instance...

I "predict" that at any point in time an Aries will break one of their bones doing something foolish. Etc.

(I also predict Fogwolf will try to point out why I'm wrong at the science part again. hehe... Aquarians hate to be wrong).

I agree that they consider it a science, but I'm not sure that it's classed as one. I would love for it to be able to get to that stage, though. And some experiments have been done (with some interesting results), but these haven't been repeated, and the experimentation is far less than even that of psychology.

But is it not a kind of prediction that, taking the chart at the time of birth, we imagine characteristics people are likely to show when they're older? But that's natal astrology. There are also branches of astrology that aim at predicting events (I don't know much about this though, or how accurate it is).

Sorry...(seriously, just tell me to shut up any time. I'm not trying to give you a hard time or anything! But I will argue a point into the ground.)

I'd like to think that, but inevitably it will not always be so.
