Lovana swished her purple tail and trotted about the night. Her eyes glancing along the feilds as she trotted, her hooves dragging along the dust creating a glow from the sunset hitting the dirt. What a wonderfull night to be out. Soon it would be dark and she would most likely head home so mother doesn't send that awfull mare after her agian. That mare thought so lowly of herself. It was hard to have a radiant beauty around a self-concious other. If only there was another to share this glorious night with.

At the noise she heard, Lovana made a swift, yet gracefull, move to wards the delta, which opened into her favorite spot. The beach. With a another glide or two, Lovana slowed to a walk and shook her mane till it fell down back into place. She smiled to herself and looked forward, trying to avoid the sunset before it vanished as she walked into the sand, lifting her hooved high so the didn't sink. Maybe if she was lucky she would run across another to talk too, if she was super lucky. It would be a male.

Hayagriva found himself heading down to the beach that twilight, out of curiosity and more than a little boredom. Being on his own without his mother was fun. It meant he could do what he wanted when he wanted and no one would ever nag him about it. It also meant that he had to figure out what to spend the long hours of the day doing, something that he hadn't quite mastered yet.

The beach, though, the beach often held surprises. He still remembered that day when the mers and kelpis had emerged onto the sand along with the Prince. That had been exciting. Whenever he walked on the beach part of him hoped to see another glimpse of one to ask them what it was like to live under the water. It had to be a lot different than living on the land.

These thoughts distracted him even as his hooves began to sink into the soft sand beneath him. It was because of this that he didn't notice the other figure on the beach until he was halfway to the water. Who could it be?

The sound of light splashing slightly startled the mare who's head quickly snapped to the source of the noise. Something was standing halfway in the water, who would be in the water at this time of night? She did hear her mother mentioning something about Kelpi and Mer, soquili that lived in the sea. How odd, could this be what she was talking about?

Curiously, the mare trotted over with her head high and her eyes perked forward. "Hey! HEY! What are you doing in the water?" Obviously she made sure she had his attention before she continued with her speaking. Waste of voice if nobody is listening, right?

The closer she got the more she realized what it was. It could be a Mer. She wasn't sure about the tail, but otherwise it looked like a regular stallion. Who was oddly brightly colored. Yellow and Red? Who knew of two colors that went so well together. "Who, are you?" She asked her head diping down as she questioned. She took a step back for precaution because she was so close to the stallion one more step and she would run him over.

Haya almost took a step back himself at the sudden proximity but held his ground while the mare moved backwards. She was looking him over, almost expectantly. Maybe she was out here looking for kelpis too. As she didn't seem to be one either they could both be mutually disappointed, or mutually glad for the company.

"I'm Hayagriva... Haya." His tail swished thoughtfully in the water behind him. "I was out looking for mers or something. Don't see any yet."

He seemed a bit taken back by her random apperance, but the mare took no thought to that and right to the convorsation. "Nice to meet you Haya." She smiled politely and gave a small dip of her head. Like her mother taught her but, she thought it was a waste of good talking time.

"You were looking for Mers? I was told sometimes you dont want to go out looking for them. Plus it's night and most normal Mers are going back to the cave, underwater...things they live in. What are you doing outhere at night anyway?" I suppose she talks to fast and to much for her own good. Still at high energy even with the sun down and the silence of the crashing waves. Which was being interupted by her outgoing behavior

The mare talked a lot and yet hadn't given him her name in the storm of remarks. Haya figured that he'd ask her about it later in the conversation. For now she seemed to want to talk about mers, and ask questions.

"I'm not doing anything.... Just looking around." It didn't sound very debonair when he said it like that, he had to admit. He was bored and looking for something to do in the early nighttime. There was nothing wrong with that. "Are you looking for anything?" He had the feeling it would set the mare off talking again but wondered what she would say this time.

It worried the mare about the stallion polite struture. Surely most stallions present themselves and ask for names. Or bow and show respect. Then agian, Lovana was off in her fantasy dreams agian.

"Isn't looking around kinda hard to do in the...well....dark?" She inquired kinda curiously. Surely who would be out looking for anything in the dark? "Me? I was actually looking for someone to talk to. Sometimes I can't sleep so I wonder the shore edges, it's peacefull and sometimes there are even people to talk too!" She spoke more slowly with her last sentance and finished with a warm thoughtfull smile which looked off because she was smiling at her thoughts and nothing else.

Now Haya couldn't decide what to think of this mare. It seemed like he spent half his time wondering about her airiness only to have her say something that made him feel a little foolish himself. Of course it was hard to find anything in the dark. He didn't usually come down here at night so he hadn't really been thinking about it that hard.

"Yeah, I find soquili around here a lot too. I think that everyone is still hoping to see some more mers sometime. And my name is Haya. What's yours?" He knew that he had already said it once but it felt strange asking for her name without reintroducing himself, though he probably sounded even stranger repeating his words.

Even though the mare already knew his name, she found that she had never told her to him. "Oh, sorry. I'm Lovana." Lovana smiled and dipped her head politely. at night Lovana was almost like a new soquili. During the day, she was flirty and rambuncious. Must be the air.

"Have you ever...spotted a Mer on the shoreline?" She asked looking off into the ocean.

"I did once!" Haya grinned at the exciting memory. "It was crazy! First one came onto the beach and then all these soquili came out of nowhere and everyone was talking to everyone!" He sagged a little as another aspect of the event came back to him.

"I was just a colt then so no one really talked to me. Well, another filly... but I didn't get to talk to the mers and stuff. That's why I keep looking for more of them. Maybe this time they'll pay attention..."
