A lone, large black canine walked down the carnival streets. Vlad was not a happy puppy. He was, in fact, a rather pissed off godling still trapped in wolf form. 'You'll turn back...eventually. Feh! Stupid god...thing,' he thought. Here it was, the next morning after his meeting with Anubis and turning into a wolf, he was still a wolf! And, on top of that, it had been a very painful transformation, and would no doubt hurt like hell to change back.
Having some time to kill, Vlad decided to do some searching and find out what this body could do. He hated to admit it, but Vlad liked this form. Speed, power, strengthened senses...It was nice. So that was how Vlad ended up in the carnival. Drawn to the people and the smell....the free food that people some times threw at him was nice, too.

Maria had been curious for a couple of days now, and decided to go check out the carnival that had set it self up near Borders. Not, really caring to much for some of the crowds that appeared she stayed toward the makeshift alleys that had been created when the multitude of tents had been set-up.
Using the real alleyways and the makeshift ones she managed to allow herself to see must of the carnival, and grab a bit of the food every now and then without venturing into main jumble of people. This also helped Reki stay safe, and avoid being stepped on by other people.
After wandering from one end of the carnival back Maria sat down on the cold ground of one of the make shift alleys. She was enjoying the small breeze that was created when people ran by, this enjoyment suddenly turned sour though when Reki's fur began to stand on end. Maria quickly stood up, looking in the direction that Reki was looking and saw a black dog-like creature. Hoping that it hadn't saw her yet she turned and headed down the makeshift alley.
Stopping to see where the dog was she looked around hopping not to see him.

Vlad was starting to grow tired of the carnival. He felt crowded, and, also, the carnies were just plain wierd. One tried to lick him....freakin' carnies. Vlad was on his way to leave when he smelled and heard something that made him stop. A sense of power, similar to, but subtler and gentler than Anubis' came to his attention. When Vlad turned around, there was a teenage asian girl. Vlad drew closer, that she might be dangerous never crossing his mind. Vlad took another quick whiff. Talk of some game crossed his mind, and if their strangeness was any indication, she was part of it too. She seemed nice, so Vlad thought he'd give her a chance. Vlad came up next to her and kept pace with her, his tail wagging. After she stopped and eyed him for amoment, he gave her a big, slobbery dog kiss on the face. Hey, Fenrir told him to get used to this body, right? He was doing just that.

Maria had no clue what they hell was wrong with that mutt, but the one thing she was going to do was make sure it knew who was higher up on the food chain. She was about to shove it away, and make it go away but Reki got a hold of the dog before Maria could even turn around to look at the mutt again.
However, as Reki’s tailed fluffed out she watched as the cat lunged at the dog and scratched it across the face, and then jumped back again hissing his small lungs out. As Maria was about to yell at Reki the cat lunged back at the mutt, and this time latched himself onto the mutt’s scruff.
“Bad Kitty,” Maria yelled at the cat in a concerning way, as reached toward the cat to save the mutt. “Stop doing what I think.”

When that stupid little furball attacked poor Vlad, he holwed loud enough to hurt some ear drums. He walked backwards shaking his head. When Reki latched himself to Vlad, Vlad reared up on his hind legs. Vlad was back to being a normal....abnormal boy again. The change was instantaneous this time.....still hurt like hell, though. This new pain, on top of the old pain, was enough to bring poor little Vlad to his knees. When Vlad could move, he grabbed the stupid feline, brought it in front of him, cursed at it in Russian, then flung the thing away. After a moment collecting himself, he looked up at the shocked girl. "Hello," he huffed, "my name iz Vladmir. Call me Vlad." Then Vlad sunk to the ground. He was still conscious, but very much didn't want to be.

Maria watched the scene unfold before her eyes. She was about to grab Reki off the scruff of the mutts neck, when the mutt transformed and flung Reki away. Maria intention changed from the mutt… human toward her cat. Bending down she picked Reki up and stroked him as he laid in her arms. Before heading back toward the boy, that called himself Vlad, Maria set Reki it his bag that laid at her side. “Well, Vlad was it,” Maria said as she turned around and glared at him. “You had no right to do what you did to my cat, it was not my fault that he attacked you, but because you licked me, invading my place. So next time do not treat him with such aggression, when he was only doing what he needed to do.”
Seeing as she got that out of the way she knelt down and looked at the boy. “Now then, are you okay,” she asked as she still kept distance just in case he was feinting and was going to attack.

Vlad groaned as this asian girl was chewing him out for abusing her cat. When she started to see if he was ok, he decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and say something. So Vlad turned over, looked at the girl right in the face, opened his mouth, and said "Zorry about zat. I sink I'll live. I just got angry...zen zere vas de paiy. I hope your cat iz ok. Felines have never liked me....for obviouz reazonz....Who , might I ask, are you?"

Maria just looked at him as she listened to him speak, and tried to catch every word he said in his Russian accent. “I guess it okay. I understand why cats may hate you, and Reki should be okay hopefully with a little bit of rest,” Maria said as she continued to look at the strange little boy. “I’m Maria, or MJ.”
Looking down at the pathetic boy she reached a hand out. “Would you like some help getting up,” she asked. “Seeing as it may have been partly my fault too for having such an overprotective cat.”

Vlad grabbed Maria's outstretched hand, and, with her help, hauled himself up. He stared at Maria, something about her seeming....familiar. "Maria, Maria...I've just met a girl named a girl named Maria..." Vlad cocked his head, looked at this strange girl, and suddenly remembered something. "Aha! You remind me of a story zat my parentz told me. Zere vas a girl named Maria zat lived not too far from zem zat vent missing some time ago. I had heard zat you vere younger, zo." Vlad guessed that the look on her face meant that he was right. "Zo, iz dees part of ze "Game"? And, for zat matter, vot iz de Game?"

"Yeah, that was me the missing girl, but its been great," she said as she hauled Vlad up into standing position. "Yeah, I was younger. The game changed me though."
Maria looked kind of shocked that Vlad did not know anything about the game.
"Wait, let me get this straight no one has informed you about the game," Maria said in somewhat disbelief. "You have not been explained anything?"

"Vell....not really. Zat Anubis....man....all though he is not like us.....gave me zees collar. He zaid eet vas a geeft from Fenrir. I took eet, changed into my ozer form, vich hurt like hell, and left. I've been vandering around till I met you. I "sensed" zat you vere special, and hoped you could help me." Vlad just talked and told Maria these events like he would recap what he did at school....if he had ever gone to school. Private tutors taught alot more than public school. Vlad started to stretch and pat himself down. Yep, he was all there, from head to tail, and.....TAIL!?!
"Ahhhh! I have a tail! Vy do I hav a tail!? I know I had no tail before yesterday!" Changing into a wolf, Vlad was cool with it. Meeting some slightly off-balanced chick who's pet mauled him, Vlad was cool with it. Meeting some otherworldly power, Vlad was cool with it. Having a tail, this was what Vlad freaked at.

Maria just stood there and listened as the boy yapped away, and was about to add her two cents into his conversation about Anubis, and what not, when the boy started to yell something about a tail. “He does not have to be so loud about, what does he want the whole world to know that we are different,” Maria thought to herself. “Why me…?”
As he continued to hyperventilate, or what it seemed Maria finally had to interject. “Well, yes I see you do have a tail Vlad,” she said calmly, with no concern. It was not as if she had not seen half human, half animal creatures before. “Maybe your talisman helped manifest your abilities, and the tail was just part of it.”

Vlad just stared at her. This Maria girl was not a particularly nice person, but at least she wasn't bad to him. "....Come again about my 'abilities', pleez. Vood you pleez tell me vot iz going on?"
Vlad was exasperated. This had been a wierd few days, even for him, and he was ready to sit down, curl up, and sleep.

"Well, you see weird things happen to people like us. Some can shapeshift, others just have animalnoid attributes, like feathers from their feet or in your case a tail, or you might just have an ability or two that makes you different," said Maria as she looked at the boy. "You pobably won't know exactly what your abilities are until it hits you. I for one did not really know about my abilities until my God started to communicate with me, but I did know that there was something special about me when weird things would happen when I became emotionally unstable. So a lot of time you just got to wait, be patient and everything will be explained in the long run."
As she looked down at him, she could not help but think how much he looked like a little lost dog the claws on his feet and the tail. He almost reminded her of Writ, a cute puppy form of him.
