Black tipped paws hit the shifting sands beneath them rather heavily. The white, green striped lioness carried herself sluggishly across the lands. Her eyes squinted to see what was before her as clearly as possible through the heat and sweat that fell across her face and matted her fur down.

It had been only a few days since she had that...tussle with the small red male. She wasn't sure why he had attacked her exactly, she had a pretty good idea of why though. He was probably one of the firekin that other cub had told her about and she was an outsider. That and he obviously did not want to share what food he had with her. She didn't blame him. The desert was a harsh, unforgiving place. It was a miracle that she hadn't been taken to be a slave.

In a way she was lucky but on the other hand she was worse off than she had been when she had run into him. Now she had gone even longer without a decent meal or water. She had barely been able to get her paws on a small rabbit that she had come across as she made her way as far as possible from the other.

The rabbit hadn't been very satisfying. Not at all. In fact it had made things worse, she was more hungry now than before because she had gotten a little food making her body crave it even more than before.

If only Tama could get her paws on some food and a lot of it. And hopefully she didn't run across another red lion.

A shudder ran down her spine at that thought, no she didn't want to get into another fight again.

Luckily for the white and green lioness she spotted another animal that she could hunt in a small patch of trees. It had to be an oasis, unless it was a mirage, otherwise it had to be or it couldn't be out here....Right?

In any case Tama hurried along anxious to catch something, eat, find water and rest her sore, tired limbs for a while.

Just what Pyralis needed: Another reason to be irritable. Which he was. The sun was a horrible thing, he'd always known, and now that he was out and about in it, he wanted to maul everything in his way and just go find somewhere to curl up, preferably in the shade.

But Keahi had gone off ahead of him, so if he did that, when he -did- catch up with her, she'd make fun of him for being slow and whiny. So Pyralis had to fall-back on being hot, whiny, and quick-footed.

Char-footed. Man, his feet were hot and burning and full of ouch. Definately full of ouch.

With a grumble and a quick rub over his scarred toes, Pyralis finally willed his pride to allow a break from the heat and he collapsed under the shade of a palm-tree, the sand still hot, but now his pelt had to opportunity to lose all the heat of the sun from it, allowing him to settle down for a bit.

Maybe he -would- go travel by night instead.

When she had first started out in the desert, when she had been scared out the oasis by some green monster with piercing red eyes, her paws had burned and blistered quite terribly. However now, having spent weeks if not months out under the hot sun with her paws beating against the blistering sands, she had adjusted to the feel of the sand beneath her. It no longer burned and damaged her. The heat however was something completely different.

It was still as hot as before, the sun blaring down against her back. Tama was not sure that she would ever get used to it, hopefully she wouldn't have to. She was itching to get out of the desert, she hated it, or at least extremely disliked it, it harbored no good memories for her and she doubted that it ever would.

A small animal darted across her path jerking her out of her thoughts. She instantly crouched down and began to stalk it. It didn't take much to bring the rabbit down, even with her unstable state. Once quick attack had done the trick, which pleased the female greatly. Scarfing down the meal quickly she trotted off to search for a nice place to rest.

Her orange colored eyes scanned her surroundings rather cheerfully, satisfied for the most part until she saw the male. Tama could have sworn her heart had stopped at the sight of him. He was around her age, that was for sure, but his markings...the red. It terrified him and she froze in place unable to move or think clearly.

It didn't take more than a moment before Pyralis lifted his head up, the feeling of another looking down on him not settling well with the male, whom heaved his dark head up to look up at whomever it was that was looking at him. The flash of the white of Tama's fur sent Pyralis sprawling up to his paws, fur down his spine puffing up angrily, before he took a few deep breaths, recognizing that he didn't know this female.

"Just looks like her.." he mumbled out loud, narrowing his eyes a bit at the green-striped female, though for a moment his mind replaced her with the image of the white-and-red lioness whom had given him the wounds on his body. He shook his head a bit in an afterthought of the horror, before growling under his breath.

Why was this one here as -was-? His red eyes leered the female down for a few moments, before he settled himself back down into the sand, resting his head back down on his paws, his dark tail flickering from side to side impatiently, before Pyralis finally looked up again, eyes narrowing a bit.

"What do -you- want?" he snarled fiercely, not lifting his head up, but giving the stranger a look none-the-less. Sometimes he wished that Keahi would just let him maul all of the strangers.

When the male basically leapt to his paws looking rather angry the female jerked backwards, startled. The fear that had once held her no longer had any bonds on her and she should have fled, yet she couldn't. Not without finding out why she angered him so when she didn't even know him!

Of course she didn't know that he had a tussle with Lakeisha, or Uri as she called herself now. Not that it mattered much, she still wouldn't have seen how it connected her to the dark lion before her.

Normally she would have walked away but she definitely did -NOT- like his tone of voice and she was -NOT- going to stand for it. She didn't put up with it Lake and she wasn't going to put up with it from a stranger. "Who said I wanted anything from an ugly creature like you?" Tama replied viciously not caring if it angered him more. If he was going to talk to her like that when she did no wrong she would give him a reason to be angry.

Her claws extended and dug deep into the sand flicking the loose grains up every now and again. She said nothing more and only watched him coldly with her eyes, straightening herself to avoid looking weak. She was decently fed now and rested, she believe that if a fight happened to break out she was prepared, at least more so than before.

And her words hit the 'anger nail' straight on the head, causing Pyralis's face to darken (figuratively, not literally. A black-face cannot get much darker..) before he swallowed all of his anger down to force out a less-then-pleased but more-then-pissed answer to the spatted back reply. "Hmm. So says the girl who looks like something vomitted on her." he replied, before tilting his head slightly to one side in a sort of coy manner, a twisted grin on his face.

Oh yes, -that- had been a nice thing to get out of his system by a long-shot.

Then, leaning in to taunt Tama, he added, "And I never said what you wanted had to be from -me-." the last few words were growled in emphasis of his displeasure at her leap to assumption, before he turned his head to look away from her and off into the steaming sands of the desert.

Perhaps it was one of the elements of his displeasure. It wasn't surprising, afterall, that the heat was attracted so greatly to his firekin blood.

The green striped female merely rolled her eyes at his 'insult'. It was a pathetic one in her eyes, not that hers had been much better but she was just warming up, besides words didn't bother her too much, he'd have to try harder to spark her anger. "Ouch that hurt." She replied sarcastically before shaking her head. "At least I more interesting colors to me. Red and black? How boring and bland."

Tama snorted at his next words. He had got her there, slightly. "You wouldn't have cared enough to ask if you thought it hadn't." She stated whether it was true or not. Frankly it didn't matter, not one bit. Her tail flicked behind her almost boredly, even if that wasn't the case.

Despite the fact that she was being pretty snippy and b***h and vise versa she was enjoying herself a little. She was sick of being weak and helpless, at least now she could fight back a little and be a bit bitchy knowing full well what the consequences would be, well at least what some could be.

She was ready for a fight if a fight happened.

Pyralis looked down at his own coat for a minute, giving it a moment of mental praise to raise whatever ego it may have had despite the weak comment made at it, before looking back to Tama. "Never said it had to do with your coat, Sweetheart." he snipped back in just as quick a retort as she'd given him, before going on to add, in the defense of his own coloration, "Besides, my coat shows my Firekin heritage."

After that he allowed himself to go silent, again taking deep breaths to suppress his undying desire to just go and lash out at this one. Nobody could make a quip at the colors that reflected his father in him and get away with it! But he'd have to let himself mentally know that this one was young and stupid, over and over again. Young and stupid, young and stupid.

He'd have to take pity on her for as long as his mind would allow him to have that control. Afterall, it wasn't -his- fault he had a bit of a temper to his name.

Pyralis would blame that on heredity. But this one. Oh, she had a sharp tongue and he just wanted to rip it out of her head.

Tama laughed dryly. That comment bugged her ever so slightly but she ignored it and refused to show that it did. She would get him back with an even nastier insult, but later. "Is that the best you've got dear?" She asked with an arched eyebrow. If he was going to call her sweetheart she'd call him dear, it didn't matter to her, afterall she'd probably never see him again.

"You sure don't look like a firekin to me." She retorted with yet another snort. All of the firekin she had seen had been red, very few of them carried black, given she had only seen a small handful of them but still it was enough for her to have a basis. "In fact you look quite the opposite. Weak and pitiful." That was sure to set him off, she didn't really know just how prideful firekin really were and that he really was a firekin. It was no matter though, even if she had she still would said it. It would have made her want to say it even more so, just to piss him off.

Unfortunately, Pyralis only had so long a control on his temper, and without thinking about it, his paw lashed out at the white female, any wound made by such an outburst adding to the amount of glee that came with the territory. Not that the slightly-puffed fur and the bared teeth bore any intimacy to sharing such a detail with this stranger, his head held high, yet fiercely, towards this female, a growl forming in his throat.

"What would some nobody know of the Firekin?" he hissed, muscles tensing underneath his dark fur, before he added, "You don't even bare the semblance of the coloration of the firekin on your pelt, now do you?" he hissed, snapping at her lightly, then laughing, a dark and almost horrid laugh.

"At least the -last- white female who boasted knowledge of the firekin had -red- on her pelt, be it so bare as to her eyes and ears, mm?"

Little did he know the relation between that 'Firekin' and this current female whom aggrivated him so.

Tama barely caught the sight of his paw flying toward her in fury. The white and green female jerked back quickly, but not quickly enough, his paw caught her face snapping her head sideways. Immediately she wondered if his claws had been extend because she felt a p***k in her skin as her head moved sideways because of the blow. She raised one of her black dipped forepaws and touched her fur. It was sticky and wet.

That b*****d she hissed in her mind as she bared her teeth and lunged at him her claws extended aiming for his next. One of the weak points of the body, or could be depending on if you knew where to strike or not. "I know a hell of a lot more than you think." She hissed. "And for your information d**k head, that female you're talking about was my sister"

Thinking about Lakeishi made her blood boil, mainly because of how much of a b***h she had been and how the red marked female had basically disowned Tama and the rest of her siblings. Although she had had a valid reason for not believing that they were related they were no matter what was said. Tama would consider her family if only by the similar blood that coursed through their veins.

The simple fact that Pyralis had brought Lakeishi up made her want to do more damage than she already intended.

Pyralis automatically dropped his body against the sand to save his neck from getting lashed at, though his shoulder was caught quite nicely, a hiss coming from between his teeth, aimed at the evil female whom dared to speak as though she knew so much. "Your -sister-? I'd doubt to speak as though you'd be the sister of a firekin." he hissed after recovering from the movement caused to the strike on his shoulder, his paws slightly-sunk into the sand from the movement.

After he took a few deep breaths, something he'd adopted after watching the other white female he'd fought with do it in order to regain her composure, he added, if only to fuel the angry fire of this female, "Besides, you're both not pretty enough to be related, nor can I see how a few words of description can tell you I met your.. 'sister', -sweetheart-." he seethed through his teeth with as much sarcasm as he could, before again lowering his head into an offensive position, his clawing dipping into the sand ever so barely.

What if it was to say that this one -was- related to the other? Would it make the red girl a liar? No... no.. she'd mentioned a mother. A firekin mother. This one didn't look like she'd be the child of a firekin in the least.

However, Pyralis was rather pissed towards this one, even moreso than the other female, and in turn, decided to return the attack, lunging back at Tama.

Lakeishi called herself a firekin? Why did that not surprise her? Nor did it surprise her that the male didn't believe that they were related. They didn't look anything like each other. The truth was Tama and Lake were perhaps the two that stuck out from the others the most, Lakeishi especially. The red that decorated the other set her apart from all of the others, having been the only one born with that odd coloration. And the others...they must have looked like their mother and Tama...as much as she hated to admit it looked nothing like Malika. No she looked that womanizing b*****d Nyekundu. Her father.

The green striped female said nothing against being related to a firekin, he could believe what ever he wanted. "Ouch that hurt." She said sarcastically with a roll of her eyes. "When there's so little to define her it's not hard to figure out who she is even by so little." She growled narrowing her eyes. "Nothing could make me forget that b***h." She wasn't going to mention the fact she was disowned by the red marked female no.

Then he came flying toward her. Before she knew it she was on the ground with his heavy weight on top of her. s**t She cursed in her mind as she struggled to gain control of the fight by rocking her body and lashing out at his face. She was -NOT- going to stay down.

He felt an undying desire to lie underneath his breath, thus he couldn't help but bring his face closer to the green and white female's and hiss a quiet; "Oh? Well, you don't seem as old as my mother is, because that's the female I was referring to." he growled, replacing the Uri in his mind that aggrivated him so with his Firekin of a mother, which only served to fuel his rage, indirectly. Even if there was no way this female was related to him, or the real female he was claiming was his mother as a lie, if only to confuse this lioness, he felt his claws dig into the first available surface they had, before he snapped lightly at Tama's nose, his eyes narrowed and set into a dark scowl.

"Would you like to revise your story now, woman?" his voice took away from the lighter and teasing tone of earlier to dip into a dark and threatening tone he'd never touched before, not to Uri, not to Keahi, not to anybody.

This female was being extremely aggrivating, and part of him wanted to rip her throat right out of her neck and display it about proudly. But that was where his problem came in. All he was good at was getting into fights, not hunting. That may have been a show of a disposition of a stereotypical warrior with no real morals. Right then, however he didn't care, instead continuing to hold her down and holding his teeth around her neck in such a way that it was meant as a threat, before he growled again, in the dark voice, "You feeling lucky right now?"

Tama rolled her eyes. He was lying, he had to be lying. He suddenly changed his story on her. At least that was the conclusion that she came up with. Still she had know way of knowing if what she thought was true or not. "How do you know that your grandmother didn't have another little and that I'm not from it?" She countered as best she could. She knew that it wasn't the best but she had to try at least.

The lioness could feel his teeth scrape against her neck and froze momentarily before getting a paw under his chest, barely, and trying to dig it into his flesh which proved rather difficult to do given how little room she had to move her paw. "Maybe I am maybe I'm not. You'll never know now will you?" She hissed in response, narrowing her eyes and still struggling even with the closeness of death by his jaws around her neck.
