The time had come. Or, at least, she was making it come.

After countless hours of babysitting the three wicker baskets, she was ready for them to come out.

"Time to rise and shine, darlings," she said cheerfully, promptly pushing over all three baskets, causing the two small fillies and one colt to come toppling out. She snorted as she glanced over each of them... none had succeeded in capturing her radiant beauty, but they sure as hell had tried.

Well, she would see to it that they remembered who was the beautiful one in the family.

The foals' presence alone irritated her (who in the world could tolerate foals?!), but she was determined to overlook that issue for now, since it continued to give her the opportunity to show up her own teacher.

"Now, babies. Turn around and face Momma... she wants to get a good look at all of you."

He had been feeling warm and comfortable, much like any other day he could recall, when the sweet Momma voice began to coo at him, and then his little home began to shake.

Already a bit cramped due to growing as much as he had since his birth, it didn't take much to knock him out of his basket. So, with a startled whinny, the small colt tripped out, stumbling on his wobbly hooves.

It took a bit of getting used to, as his weak limbs had never been used before, and the large purple feathery wings sprouting from his sides seemed to instinctively attempt to keep him balanced.

Small pink eyes blinked, and he quickly attempted to adjust to the brightly lit outside world. Taking in his environment, they finally landed and remained on the white mare standing before them.

So this was Momma.

She lay there for a moment before opening her eyes, gazing up to find... Brightness. Bright, white light that burned. She made a soft sound as she shifted, adjusting a wing to try and hide her eyes. Why was it so bright? Why had she fallen? Where was the voice? Would it come again?

... And what of the other voice? Was that something as well? Or was it just... Her?

She was born into darkness, but had been brought into light. And she had just been getting accustomed to the slow dormant days in pitch black... How bothersome.

With an instinctive gritting of her teeth, the freshly awakened filly attempted to get up on her four legs, but was hit with frustration and disappointment as she fell forwards right in front of a very bright hoof. She lifted her weak head up, but the sun's rays leaking from behind a large figure had hindered her progress. Her black, almost sullen-looking eyes had attracted more of the sun's blinding light than what would have been necessary.

And when she opened just a slight slit of her eyes at the towering thing, the blurred vision she had sent a chill up her spine as well as soothed her soul. Was that the thing that had called her and the others out so many times before?

Well, this had been an unpleasant introduction to the outer world, and the small filly snorted softly in response, eyes never leaving her big idol.

Three little semi-replicas of herself were adjusting themselves to their new world, her new world, and she allowed them time to examine their surroundings as she glanced over each of them.

Having grown bored the many days beforehand, she had already named each of the three to her own liking. While Plague had his Trio of Troublesome ones named to his preference, she was taking it upon herself to name them according to how she saw fit. Not only should they have meaning to them, but sound nice as well (after all, who'd want to walk around being called Plague all day, anyhow?)

The eldest took after herself the most in appearance, with a blinding white coat and long, bat-like kalona wings. However, instead of the beautiful pink coloring she herself adorned, this little filly was covered in her father's darkness. It was quite the shame, seeing such a potential beauty gone to waste thanks to something so trivial as Plague's coloring. She lacked her mother's stripes as well, but was fortunate enough to bear a similar marking on her side. Her eyes, however, were her Father's, both empty and hollow. "Dismay," Diabetia said accordingly, taking one pink-dusted kalona wing and running it under the filly's chin.

Next came the second filly, who seemed a tainted mix between both parents, though it worked well for her. Her wings were truly nothing like Dia had ever seen before; a telltale sign that she belong both to the mutant and the kalona race. She was lucky enough to bear her mother's stripes and skin tone, as well as her eyes. Still, though, Plague's darkness tainted this foal in not only her obvious feathering, but in her dark stripes, hair, and horns as well.

"Discord," She smiled, proud of herself for having spawned such beautiful offspring. None were on par with her own beauty, of course, but they were still stunning, all the same.

Turning towards the last of her brood, pink eyes fell upon a dark head, which resembled nothing like herself, for the most part, but took far too much after Plague himself, with the same gender to match. Large purple wings had sprouted from his sides, and there was no doubt to what stallion he had belonged to. He had touches of his mother's appearance, but it was a loss on her part; Plague's genes had taken over this colt, and it was just another thing she'd have to tolerate.

"Havoc," the voice said, finally, and she leaned down to get a better look at them all. Her nose immediately scrunched, however, and her ivory head shot up. They smelled atrocious!

Though, having been in the baskets for as long as they had... she should have expected such. Shaking her head, she walked her way past the trio and ordered them to follow her. There was a stream nearby, and hygiene would be the first lesson her little twerps would learn!

His eyes managed to stray away from the tall pink and white figure, and glanced over at the other two females nearby. They were about his height, but looked nothing like him, or what he could see of himself.

The Momma voice spoke, and his dark head turned to listen. She seemed to be addressing them by the names she had called out so many times before. What was his again? Oh, that's right, Havoc.

He grinned, proud of the name Momma gave him. He had no idea what it meant, but she seemed to like the way it sounded, so he would too.

The tall kalona brushed past him and directed the group to follow so Havoc, attempting to continue to balance himself with his legs, toddled after her, trying to keep up with her pace.

Slowly she pushed herself up onto all fours. Her legs wobbled and her wings threatened to drag her back down... Down wouldn't have been all that bad. It had been rather comfortable there...

Snorting softly as the weird thing with fluffy purple things moved passed her she attempted to follow, taking one slow, wobbly step at a time. Only when she made the mistake of looking down to watch the movement of her hooves did she stumble, wings flaring out in an attempt to catch her awkward body. This was terrible.

Shivering from her mother's affectionate touch, the firstborn lifted her head upwards instinctively after the contact was lost. A wince came as she attempted to fully open her eyes. That sun! She shook and almost let out a cry, but something inside of her told that it was not in her blood to show such a sign of frailty. So she squinted and saw that her mother was even further away now, and some sort of desperation for a connection to her mother made the small filly lift her legs up, beginning a slow, unsure walk towards their destination.

It took a bit for the filly to realize that she had been named just then, and the tiny beginnings of a smile revealed itself. Dismay... Something about the sound of it pleased her. The other sounds she heard weren't as nice to hear, but she looked at the other two small figures and figured. What poor-looking things, she thought, supposing she would see more of them in the future if they were around her now. She made her way to the front of the group, her goal of reaching her mother so strong. Good thing she didn't have big awkward things coming out of her back, like the other two, to hinder her progress.

Dia smiled as she turned her head, watching the three little ones follow her on their smaller legs. She had slowed down her pace significantly after noticing their disappointing pace. Perhaps they needed more time to get acquainted with their new surroundings, but Dia saw it as nothing but a waste of time, on her part.

Not far off, Dia could begin to hear the sound of the forest's brook, and she felt relieved. Now these smelly brats could get cleaned off... and perhaps there stood a chance that one would smell as sweet as herself? What a delight that would be for her nose!

Havoc's pink eyes quickly spotted the bright white look-alike hurrying to make her way closer to Moma, and he let out a little growl, himself eager for her attention. Risking tripping himself, he quickened his pace, snorting at the other filly who had managed to stumble over her own hooves, making herself look quite silly. Havoc grinned to himself.. he bet he didn't look so foolish!

A purple feather or two fell from his long wings, and make him think twice about why neither his mother or that bright white look-alike, had those wings on them. Giving a couple blinks, the thought quickly vanished from his mind, and he scampered forward, prepared to pounce and gnaw on the silly looking bat wings attached to his eldest sister.

She was in no hurry to catch up to Thing One, Thing Two or the Bright One. Her main focus was movement... And doing so without tripping over her silly legs or the strange things that were attached to her sides (whatever they were). She turned her head to n** at them as if that would make them go away... Only to squeak loudly when a shot of pain hit her. What was that? Something had hurt.

Not liking whatever it was one bit she scrambled to catch up with the others, not wanting to get bitten again.

Dismay had sensed something coming after her, something unpleasant. A low hiss sounded in the filly as she turned her head to face her youngest brother. He was closing in on her and her mother far too fast, but she would be the one who would stop him.

She gave him an ugly stare, trying to make him go away, but when she realized that his will in no way would be bent, she lowered her head and charged a few steps. She had no idea there were three spikes growing from her own head that would potentially harm her sibling! Her nostrils flared as she dared her intruder to come closer to her and her mother.

Dia turned to glance at her children and quickly found herself rolling her eyes. She never recalled herself acting so... unintelligent before, as a foal. No doubt they got it from their Father's side of the family.

The youngest seemed to be off in his own little world, heading over to where the eldest was trailing behind her. The kalona filly seemed quite aggressive towards her youngest sibling, which was a pleasing sign in Dia's eyes of the potential she held. The middle child, however, seemed to be struggling behind. She would definitely be calling for some attention when it came time to actually raise the foals.

"Hurry along, children," she reprimanded in an stern voice, "We don't want to keep hurting Momma's nose, now, do we?"

Havoc skidded to a halt as he saw the three long sharp things directed at him, the closer he drew towards the bright colored filly. What a spoilsport she was!

Instead, he turned around and went after the other brightly colored filly. Perhaps he'd be able to n** at those weird looking things on her back instead!

She seemed oblivious enough; not at all interested in her brother, sister or mother beyond making sure that she kept up as she had been told to do. It took more than enough concentration to properly grasp the whole 'walking' thing. She didn't need to worry about anything else.
