If you had the choice, would you want to come back as a hologram? Would you rather be a soft-light or a hard-light hologram?
I admit, as happy as I was for Rimmer when he got his hard-light body, and could eat and feel things again, I think I'd opt for the soft-light body as long as I was in deep space. The idea that nothing could hurt or kill you (except for holo-viruses and holo-whips) would be a comforting thought when landing on strange planets or entering strange ships.
Getting back to Earth would be soon enough to get a hard-light body. Unless you could never go back to earth...or it was taken over by giant cockroaches....then definitely I'd stay with the soft-light body.
How about you?

I'd rather be a soft light hologram, so I could hide in the walls and under stuff and spy on people. Being a hard light hologram would be fun too, because then I'd be almost indestructible.

The soft light body would let you do cool things, like when Lister's head came through the table to speak to himself in the past.
"You don't know me, but I'm you. You're dead now, and I'm not...."

Hmmm... I guess soft light would be cool, since you couldn't get hurt... but then, you could die if someone crushed your light-bee, like what happened to High Rimmer in Demons and Angels. 3nodding Then again, I guess you could just get reprogrammed into another...

Maybe a system which allows you to alternate between hard and soft light. That would be the best for a lot of reasons.

Well, I would take the hard-light drive, because in the canon Rimmer could switch between the two to conserve energy. Also, as Legion said he could still feel pain, but could not come to any real harm. So, yeah, definitely hard light.

I would stay dead. Unless there was someone to annoy like Lister.

but the soft light holos can have their chip thingy grabed out from inside then, which can then be swallowed by any person who thought the halogram was being a little to much of a smeg head.

If I was a hologram, I'd want to find a way to ban holowhips.

ForgotteNights but the soft light holos can have their chip thingy grabed out from inside then, which can then be swallowed by any person who thought the halogram was being a little to much of a smeg head. So then I would most certainly want to be a hard light hologram so that I can munch on the soft light hologram's lightbee's when they annoy me.

I think I'd rather be a hard-light hologram, because it would be frustrating not being able to physically interact with anything, plus it would be harder for my enemies to crush my light bee what with my body being nearly invincible.
